I went to The Hiking Sheep on a school trip. This hotel is a large chalet right at the top of Leysin. The beds were comfortable enough and I slept well. The owners were very pleasant and made sure our stay was optimal. They also cooked wonderful food for us.

We stayed there with our three kids in the winter. It is a beautiful spacy old building, a bit old and worn down, but very charming. The owner is exceptionally nice and helpful. There is a fully equipped kitchen and community rooms (unfortunately the games and toys that used to be there have gone). Unfortunately our room in the basement... More

as a traveler who stayed there 2-3 times and then came back to 'work' there one winter i have the fondest memories of the town, the geography, the winter, the fresh bread, and the duvets. i spoke french and handled the reservations, check-in/out, and breakfast. everything was ikea decor back then and one could sleep snugly in winter under down... Hiking sheep is a great hostel with good facilities, Very friendly and helpful owner and comfortable rooms. The hostel is big and airy inside with great views outside overlooking the mountains, The design however though is not modern and has been kept traditional and i guess some appreciate it's character whereas others will notice the age of decor, The villa... I have stayed in Leysin on five occasions and stayed everytime at the Hiking sheep, on each occasion with 50 school children. Leysin is an excellent ski resort when there is snow. The ski passes are reasonable, the lift system is superb and the queues non existant. The youth hostel is clean and cosy and the food magnificent. The showers... More

This is a guesthouse and hostel combined in a very charming wooden house overlooking the village of Leysin - it's quite a walk uphill from the village. The dorms are a little small and cramped but the beds are very comfy. The doors are never locked but Switzerland is very safe so this is not a problem. However, lockers would... More

My boyfriend and I stayed from June 25-28. A negative posting for a place in Geneva recommended the Hiking Sheep as a much better alternative, so we decided to give it a try. It took 2 trains and a cog train up the mountain, but even in the pouring rain we were able to find it without a problem. The... More
