In September 2017 we will be returning to the Hotel Alfa Soleil in Kandersteg, Switzerland for the thirteenth consecutive year. Each year we return with another group of twenty four excited travelers. Many call the trip their favorite vacation and quite a few have returned with us multiple times. Rural Switzerland at it's best with Kandersteg located in the Berner...

A traditional family run hotel. 34 rooms. Swiss alpine style. We had a balcony room at the front with great view of cross country ski run and mountains beyond. Situated on edge of town, about 10 minutes flat walk from station. We liked position as it gave open views rather than being just in the middle of buildings. Exceptionally well...

This hotel combines a relaxed atmosphere with fine facilities and excellent four course dinners. The staff are very attentive and friendly, and ready to help with anything from advice on walks and local activities to practical points about the room. There is a gym, sauna, and a small swimming pool. The lounge is very comfortable with a log fire, so...

This is a lovely family run hotel on the outskirts of town. The lounge has lovely views over the mountains and is an extremely relaxing place to be. The rooms are a little bit cramped and some of the furniture appears to be a little dated. The food is delicious and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, but, being...

We watched 40cm of snow fall overnight outside this nice Swiss hotel. The perfect entree to our stay in Switzerland. A charming village with breathtaking peaks all around, and a gorgeous lake for those visiting in Summer. We happened to be there on December 25, a night on which the hotel was visited by a number of traditionally dressed male...

From the super warm welcome and continuously excellent, genial service, in the heart of Switzerland, surrounded by beautiful mountains, to the excellent, constantly varied cuisine, we had a fantastic time at Hotel Alpha Soleil. We chose Kandersteg for cross-country skiing. Unfortunately for us, there was no snow in the village. Undaunted by this, the "authorities" constructed a strip of snow...

I rarely do reviews, but we enjoyed our stay at Alfa Soleil very, very much, We were greeted by a charming young man who checked us in, showed us area attractions on the local map, and accompanied us to our room. Our two room suite was excellent, like new, and had a beautiful view of the local mountains and the...

Excellent family run Hotel, good food, attentive staff especially Daniel a 1st class Manager. What a pity about room 42, it must have one of the worst bathrooms in Switzerland. When you open the room door you look straight to the toilet, there is no bathroom door! If you are over 5' 9'' you hit your head on the sloping...
