Previously a Pre-Colombian village, the hotel is made up of a series of large huts, split into hotel rooms. Rooms quite basic, no mini fridge, TV or AC (each room has a fan instead). Not an issue for us, quite happy with comfort levels on offer. Gardens are beautiful, and it's very relaxing sitting beside the pool or in the...

A very nice place to stay and relax. The food was good, service was friendly and I liked the style of the accommodation. Great views from the swimming pool too. Next to the hotel is a tropical garden and some old ruins. Worth visiting these too.

Great out of the way place in perfect location right near the start of a white water rafting day and an indigenous cocoa walk and demonstration. It's pretty tranquil and rustic but beautiful too. Pain to drag bags over gravel pathways to the rooms but not a biggie.

We stayed here a couple of nights on a cross-country trip and were quite pleased. The hotel is made up of several large, round, thatched buildings that are divided into comfortable pie-shaped rooms with outdoor patios around the periphery. We were concerned about mosquitoes but the resident bats seem to keep them under control. And I mean that in the...

Beautiful hotel on a beautiful well maintained lot. The rooms are very nice, very clean. The front desk staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to help us with anything we needed (thank you Morissio) The pool is extremely beautiful and comfortable. This hotel was the best quality for the price that we had in Costa Rica...

Not the Four Seasons, but you shouldn't be expecting that anyway. Even the lack of air conditioning doesn't take away from the charm (or the decent night's sleep you'll get). Buildings are designed as native palenque huts with maybe 8 rooms per building. Very spartan, although spacious. You're right next door to the rain forest, and the available hiking across...

I was really surprised about this place. I got the road to Sarapiqui directly from SJO airport at night (btw: no problem at all about driving in Costa Rica !!!!!!!). When I got there, the climate had changed drastically and I could feel that the rainforest was getting closer (a little colder and much more rainy than San Jose). The...

Great place. So beautiful and in the middle of it all. Service is outstanding and food was quite yummy. We loves the palenque huts. You do have to deal with heat (no AC) & bugs, but it's part of the experience. Pool is very relaxing and a great place to cool off.

This little place in the world is magic!!! The native indian culture is everywhere, take your time to visit and read about the VOTOS, even in Costa Rica is a strange culture that was leaded by women. In the cultural path you will see stone carving, the Palenque and the cemetery. The food is great!!! Dishes are big enough to...

This lodge is located next to a beautiful part of the rainforest, where you can take short walks (also crossing the river via hanging bridges) and see lots of animals at night (not really during daytime). I really recommend taking a night tour at this location, as you can expect to see lots and lots of insects and small animals....
