If you are planning a trip to this area do yourself a favor and stay here. This place is the best hotel and restaurant for miles around. The staff is friendly and attentive. They really care about your experience. The food is delicious and comes in large portions. Beer is ice cold. The Hotel has multiple sleeping options with A/C. The accommodations are lovely and comfortable. It’s an easy walk to beaches and jungle hike to Panama. Easy to find right next door to the church. It takes just a little extra to get here, but the boat ride is an excursion in its self. This sweet little gem is is why you come to visit the Darien Gap!
I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a „flashpacking“ trip through Colombia. Sapzurro is a unique place that - although there‘s a hand ful of hotels and restaurants - doesn‘t feel touched by tourism at all. So most restaurants won‘t really have a menu and most accomodations are B&Bs or eco-lodges. Dona Triny is the most modern and hotel-ish option to stay. Located right at the pier and „main plaza“, it‘s just 2 minutes to the beach and right in the middle of everything. Still, it‘s perfectly safe (staff is around all day and the gate is locked at night) and quiet (despite the weekend where the whole town is blasted with loud music). The whole place is absolutely spotless with staff cleaning and touching up things all day. The air-con rooms are compact but with a comfy bed and small TV. Cold shower but not a problem in that heat. Shady courtyard with lots of flowers and tables. Restaurant serves yummy breakfast (arepa, eggs, fruit), lunch and dinner during fixed times. Manager speaks English. The perfect place to stay if you need a hideaway to cool down from all the heat, sea and nature all around you. Would come again! Note: We initially intended to stay at priced „La Gata Negra“ but felt the location a bit too rustic and open. Dona Triny saved the trip for us.…
We stayed at Dona Trinity as part of the San Blas Adventures trip. This was the night before our trip and the recommended hostel. We don't have many good things to say about here. The staff were rude, there was no Wi-Fi and the food was served cold and of very poor quality. Frustratingly, the cost of the food was the most expensive we've paid in Colombia for the worst quality meal. The accommodation was equally overpriced. It struck me that the hostel was taking advantage of a deal with San Blas Adventures given guests only stay one night - we were charged 20,000 for dinner (which didnt even include a drink) and 12,000 for breakfast (which was significantly lacking in taste). I would recommend looking elsewhere on the island for accommodation and definitely not eating here!
We stayed at Hotel Dona Triny as part of our San Blas Adventures tour. It is a really lovely hotel, which is kept extremely clean. All rooms have private bathrooms and fans. The food we had was good, although I would not recommend the vegetarian option (I only got extra lentils). For us it was one of the nicest places we stayed and we got a fantastic deal through the San Blas Adventures company for our private room with private bathroom. Sapzurro is beautiful and this hotel is a great base for exploring it.
We visited Sapzurro for three days and stayed in this great hotel. Our stay was very pleasant and we thank the care Doña Triny and Rosita took with us. The room was very clean and comfortable and the food was very well prepared and served. We always felt like at home and we are sure will be back to this nice hotel anytime we visit Sapzurro... Something I hope will happen soon since it’s a lovely place to spend some days out of the stress of big cities and heavy work.
