We have stayed in the lovely rooms here a couple of times over the last few years but this is our first visit since the refurb. We were seriously impressed. The rooms are beautiful with really nice touches such as real milk and proper size mugs! The breakfast crate is something else we haven't seen before. We ate in the...

We visited the Boatyard with friends shortly after it had been refurbished. We went on a midweek night and were very surprised to see how busy it was and we were glad our friends had made a reservation. We arrived shortly before our reservation time but were shown straight to our table and after a few minutes a member of...

This restaurant has changed from the Boatyard to The Grill and Grain at the Boatyard, what a lovely suprise! Very nice decor, good menu. the chef explained the new wood burning American Grill. Me and my partner visited for Valentines Day meal. The staff where friendly and helpful the building was very clean. the food was very nice although would have appreciated a little more chips, they are served in a metal cup which did present well but we where a little hungry a short while after.

We attended as a family on a Friday at half term. The restaurant was quite busy but we ate in the bar area as we had the dog with us. The staff were friendly and were keen to give the dog a treat. The service to the humans was not quite so good as we waited a long time for...

We wanted this to be good as a change from the larger hotel chains. Arrival at The Boatyard and first impressions were favourable. The twin room was spacious, clean, well-equipped and with a good size bathroom - and nicely warm as it was a cold day. Yes, we did find the room safe locked and none of the staff knew...

Rooms are spacious. Could be cleaner a bit dusty in places. Only continental breakfast available and you get what you are given. Pub and food excellent. Service was great. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would stay again.

We came here on the recommendation of one of my sons who had been on a 'date' afternoon with his good lady. What a wonderful find! We had not booked so arrived for midday Saturday with a party of four and a two year old child. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a table immediately. You can also choose...

We visited on a Sunday afternoon without booking a table as a party of 4 adults and a two year old. Sat in the bar but found out they had no free tables in the restaurant for a long while. It was very busy. However we had a couple of sharing platters at our table in the bar. The whole...

Went last night. Nice venue, food ok, service shocking!! Waited over an hour for starter and another hour for mains. Credit to the supervisor who apologised and didn't charge us for the food. Night was still spoilt though.

Hi Alison On the evening, the girl who took your order made an error on the till and the order wasn't sent to the kitchen. Once she noted that your starters hadn't been served after 30 minutes she realised her mistake and corrected the error on the order till, following this up by going into the kitchen and asking the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our canalside location is a winner in the sunshine - sit back and relax with a long, cool drink as you watch the narrowboats float quietly by. And if the weather's not quite so pleasant, we've got loads of room inside with a choice of comfy sofas or dining chairs and tables. With great value food made on-site from locally sourced ingredients, our menu has something for everyone and the quality of our food is superior. Our bar has four beers on hand pump and we've got a great selection of lagers, cider, wines and soft drinks. And there's no rush to drive home after an evening at The Boatyard - why not stay in one of our six recently decorated and well appointed rooms. Then wake up to a hearty breakfast and grab a latte in our coffee shop before leaving. ... more   less
