We have only recently started visiting the Moorcock over the past month or so, usually for a few pints after work and occasionally for the odd bite to eat. Being from over the border we have been made to feel more than welcome which is more than can be said for other pubs in this area. The landlord is fantastic... More

Just returned from the Moorcock Inn and feels like we have just thrown 50 quid down the drain. We just went for the soup of the day for our starters. Soup very average and it was described as tomato, basil and red onion. It came with some weird bread, looked grey in colour not sure if it was soda bread... More

I've never been here before but wanted to give it a try as just fancied some good home cooked food at a reasonable price. Went early evening Sat. Walked into premises to have everyone in the bar turn round to stare at us and stopped talking! Very intimidating, the bar person paid us no attention so walked through to other... More

Worth a visit the food and staff are superb! Very cosy, friendly and relaxing. This has to be the best Sunday dinner we've ever had by a long mile!! Yorkshire puddings like mountains, a selection of meats and the portions are very generous. Worth a trip just to experience the Sunday roasts alone. We have been back several times and... More

I ate here a few Sunday's ago after being turned away from The Whitehouse as it was not dog friendly. A local suggested I try The Moorcock. I was pleased I did. Our party was two adults, a baby, a toddler and a dog so not the most inconspicuous or quietest of guest! There were several locals sat at the... More

Upon arrival we received a friendly welcome and easy check in. We were asked to choose breakfast there and then as it is made to order, and was allocated a breakfast time of 10am. The room we stayed in "kestrel" was absolutely freezing when we entered, windows were closed, checked the radiator and it was off. Went back downstairs to... More

Firstly, the restaurant and bar were comfortable and the food was good. I had a typical Lancashire dish, the beef steak rag pudding, a kind of suet pudding. Very filling! I needed it, though - because when I arrived it had been a sunny day but was getting rather chilly. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to be much warmer inside! I... More

It's been a little while since we've listed the Moorcock Inn for a lunch. So Friday lunchtime we popped in to sample the culinary delights and what a surprise. The menu has changed quite a bit since our last visit. I treat myself to a rather tasty King Prawn Arrabiatti which was full of King Prawns unlike most other places.... More

Overpriced, microwaved food, very bland and tasteless would not advise anyone to eat here. Not much going for the place apart from the view, which even that isn't enough to make me want to eat there again or suggest anyone to do so.

We did not stay here, doing the short drive from home for dinner out. We enjoyed a family meal, choosing the inn for its proximity to our home and for the nice views and real ales. I agree with another reviewer that the outside could be tidied up. The service was very pleasant. Among the starters were garlic mushrooms and... More
