Grotta Giusti is located in Monsummano Terme just a few kilometres from Florence, Pisa and Lucca.Set in a private park with secular trees, the early nineteenth century villa, now a prestigious Hotel, enriched by antique furnishings and paintings, has maintained intact its historical air and natural charm. The 58 double rooms and 6 Junior Suites, furnished in a refined, fresh style, offer unexpected details such as the bathrooms in luxurious white marble with thermal water on tap. The Hotel is directly connected to the Spa, which has a modern Wellbeing Centre with an Oriental area, equipped gymnasium, numerous relaxation areas and a medical aesthetic centre. The Spa also has an open air pool with 750 square metres of thermal water, picturesque cascade and underwater hydro-massages and the large millennial Grotta to end the day with a beneficial, relaxing "steam bath". Immersed in the park are the fresh water swimming pool, tennis court and fitness walk with further trekking courses for excursions in the surrounding countryside. And, just a few kilometres from Grotta Giusti, an 18 hole golf course.

Nestled in the scenic Tuscan landscape, Grotta Giusti Thermal Spa Resort is lauded for its spa, thermal pools, and old-world charm that deliver a relaxing and authentic Italian experience. Many guests commend the hotel for its professional service and the friendliness of the staff. While the stylish decor of the rooms gains appreciation, some visitors point out issues with heating and space. The hotel's cleanliness receives mixed reviews, and the value for money is debated, with special offers sometimes overshadowed by experiences of overpricing.

We stayed one night in this resort driven by the desire to visit the cave and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. Let's start by saying that it was a midweek day and outside the festive period, which allowed us to use the hotel services with very few other guests and receive an upgrade to a deluxe room making our stay overall great for value for money. In detail:
1) The Resort is in a beautiful park, with driveway access and the possibility to park your car.
2) Express check-in, with courteous and prepared staff and welcome prosecco.
3) Large room with private bathroom large and very clean. Comfortable bed and amenities in line with the category of the Hotel, including slippers and bathrobe kit for SPA use. The heating is central and the only way to turn it off is to call reception.
4) The SPA is located in several spaces, more or less close to each other. Very nice relaxation area, nice but small "wet" area with saunas, Turkish bath and indoor thermal pool. The outdoor thermal pools were a small disappointment, considering that the larger one was closed without warning and the smaller one is certainly not surrounded by a "nice view"
5) The CAVE is the real pearl of the resort. A wonder of nature that alone is worth the trip. Unique experience.
6) The breakfast buffet does not reflect the 5 stars. Although assorted sweet / savory I found it overly impersonal, without quality Tuscan products that I would have expected to find here, especially cold cuts, cheeses and desserts are not up to scratch.
In conclusion our stay was positive and quite in line with our expectations, but considering the costs at other times of the year some further attention to detail should be made.

My husband and I had spent 3 days at this resort in 2019, having a great time. We returned a few days ago and were very disappointed.
The water from the outdoor pool was cold, so we did not use it. We opted for the new indoor pool, cold that too. Other guests also complained and gave up. We stayed only one night and in the morning we left at 8, pointing out, at the time of payment, that we could not use the pool service. Despite everything we did not have any discount , we paid the full price (and it is not cheap) without being able to take advantage of the services offered at the time of booking. We're not coming back.

Spectacular location where you can breathe the history of this spa destination of illustrious personalities in the nineteenth century and now a truly top spa resort. I particularly liked the kindness and courtesy of the staff always available and smiling, the cleanliness of the rooms, the details and details of the furniture. Il Poeta classy restaurant with excellent choice in the menu and well assorted cellar. Wellness center located both internally and in the thermal pools area (fabulous) with excellent quality Starpool machinery. Thermal pools (one very large and the other reserved behind the veranda), well equipped with water jets. Water at ideal temperature. I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite and as a result my stay became a dream. Fantastic room with breathtaking sunset view. Although in autumn I noticed great care of the park and the summer pool / tennis area. Finally, a great experience is the natural thermal cave: you enter a fascinating path in an environment to be amazed by its beauty. As I will be able to repeat the fantastic experience.

The public pool is full of dead mosquitos, bees, all flies that you can imagine. I guess it hasn’t been cleaned for months!! Breakfast was very very basic, the same everyday, very limited options. If you are a Muslim, you will have even way less options, because they offer sausages and bacon all as pork. As I’m a platinum Marriot member, they thankfully upgraded me to junior suite, over looking at the trash and towel cleaning area!! Really, a 5stars hotel suite looking at a trash view in Tuscany? See the picture.
Not worth the money paid, and crazy expensive if you decide to eat dinner there. We paid 120 euros for basic dinner for 2.
Clean the pool, it’s very obvious when you see almost no one is swimming there !!

Response from Thomas Parenti, Owner at Grotta Giusti Thermal Spa Resort Tuscany
Responded Aug 9, 2024
Dear Amra680, First of all, we would like to thank you for your recent stay at Grotta Giusti Thermal Spa Resort - Autograph Collection, and for taking the time to share your experience. We apologies if some elements of your visit did not satisfy you entirely and we are pleased to welcome your comments in a constructive manner as our goal is to always improve the service offered to our kind Guests. As far as your notes are concerned, we inform you that the cleanings of the pool is done on a daily basis. Mosquitos, bees are part of the ecosystem of the House which, as you have been able to ascertain, is surrounded by a centuries-old forest. In fact, among our ESG and Green programs we are actively engaged in the preservation of some species, such as pollinators. We thank you for the notes relating to our breakfast service offer. The buffet is designed and organized following the international lines of our brand and offers a rich variety of choices ranging from sweet to savory, also including fresh and organic products. In addition, it is possible to order, from a menu, dishes that require a supplement but which contribute in enriching the choice that we offer to our guests every day. We welcome all Guests without distinction and, respecting the dietary needs of each, we are available to assist everyone. We certainly cannot manage the planning of a service open to all by anticipating potential religious needs considering the existing alternatives and what we can offer through the support of our Team members. We respect your needs and preferences as a Home that welcomes Guests of international caliber. We regret to read that the upgrade in Junior suite was not welcomed with the right spirit. We offered, precisely in view of your status, the best upgrade available the day of your arrival even though both the room you stayed in and the one originally booked had an internal view rather than the park one. We have updated your preferences in our database so that, on the occasion of your potential return to Grotta Giusti, we can be more prepared about your needs and we might provide the experience you deserve. Kind regards Davide Mancuso Operations Manager Grotta Giusti Thermal SPA Resort, Autograph Collection

Hi, I stayed at your 5-star hotel for one night, 27-28 January and I would like to point out some critical issues related to the stay.

1. Upon arrival on the 27th, total absence of staff to support the entrance to your facility, we unloaded our luggage and entered with our luggage in hand without help
2 Upon arrival we are offered a prosecco while we check in, served "hands on" by the concierge employed, who at the same time asks us for documents and credit card.
3. After Check in, we enter the room alone without anyone helping us with our luggage
4 Room 128 with a view of the metal ventilation infrastructure and a strong smell of rotten leaves, and with a double bed made up of two uncomfortable single mattresses, certainly not a 5-star double
5 En-suite bathroom with narrow and long shower resulting in a shower that wets the entire surface of the bathroom
6 use of the partial Meditarium SPA: Super hot Finnish sauna turned off
7. Room 128 totally "soundproofed" with the neighboring rooms and therefore no relaxation, at night we were able to listen to the amorous joys in the next room by the lady present and the person with her.
7. Confusion of security personnel in the Spa area with us in bathrobe and swimsuit
8. Breakfast the following morning with a welcome from the concierge at an osteria bar restaurant, breakfast was decent but not up to the category
9. Pool area in common and not yours in full Riccione Bagni style with area in front of the pools like a metro stop in Milan.

We gave evidence of this feedback to your receptionist on the morning of our check out who kindly took note.

But the strangest answer and, in my opinion, to be stigmatised, is the one relating to point 5. i.e. the bathroom in the room with a narrow and long shower.
He replied that that room is also suitable for disabled people and the bathroom is made for them.
I am disconcerted by an answer of this type, because I ask myself: how can a "disabled person" stay in a room where it is impossible to enter with a wheelchair for disabled people and it is practically impossible to enter the shower since it is very narrow... .?
in short, a terrible figure, the patch worse than the damage as they say where I come from.

A piece of advice, work on your staff, hire more and more qualified ones and perhaps teach them that the disabled as he called them are very normal people to whom maximum attention should be given so that they can enjoy like everyone else the services that a center like yours offers of having.

The moment we checked in the experience was off the room type we requested wasn't available. the reception host Christian did nothing to try to accommodate when we finally arrived in our room. It was so small and smelled moldy. The bathroom had mold in the shower and on the backsplash of the sink. the shower pressure did not work towels looked dingy. The door knob to our room fell off after day 2 When maintenance arrived to repair, he had no idea how to fix it so they had to send somebody else. without telling us we realized the maintenance decided to fix our toilet, which we didn't know had an issue and were out of our room all day while we waited for them to repair. The cleaning service did not do a good job maintaining rooms very dusty and when very dusty, and did not restock the amenities they provided . First night ate dinner in restaurant food was awful. Very disappointed and Never any staff around when you wanted to order a drink at the bar you had to wait and look for someone. Even the coffee in the morning tasted awful.
The vibe of this place is odd Many people including us, could not find their way around the Spa area. It was like Maze . So bottom line my opinion this was the most BORING out-of-the-way dirty hotel does not give you the Tuscan feel if you're looking to experience that area. It's too bad because every other hotel we experienced on our 11 days here was extraordinary.

The resort is beautifully located a bit outside of the city centre on the steps of Monsummano to. The forest on the back of the hotel offers fresh, natural air and offers great hiking possibilities.
The hotel itself has an own, sufficient swimming pool with a nice pool bar and delicious cocktails. The area is beautifully appointed.
The restaurant, where also the breakfast is served, reminds of a very well maintained museum and is really elegant. The breakfast itself is absolutely sufficient, also with local items, just the hot food ( scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon) is always closed, even directly at the opening of the breakfast.
The rooms have an OK size, for longer stays a bit challenging. The beds in a twin bed room are still traditional single beds with 80-90 cm size. Very unusual nowadays. However the bathroom is spacious and very nice appointed.

The staff of the hotel is very friendly and attentive. Bellboy, front office, room service everyone always smiling, very quick and you feel appreciated.

The connected Thermal Spa and pool is very nice, and has a dedicated area for hotel guests. Also the walking, max. 3-5 minutes, is absolutely ok.

Challenging is the noise....remember we are in a Spa Resort and not in a Rimini Party location.
Music is playing outside during dinner hours, right in front of the rooms of the first floor (left wing). The outside restaurant tables are directly underneath the rooms first floor (left wing). You here the music and the guests until late at night and no information about it. Having in addition to that, a room first floor directly next to the main entrance and close to the elevator and stairs, thus even adds unwanted noises, especially guests checking in early or late. And also you hear the other guests in the rooms, flushing the toilets, walking around with heels, having the TV loudly on etc. You can hear everything.

So overall a resort with great potential but wanting to be a 5**** Spa and Resort property you need to be aware of the noise challenges you ask your guests to accept. It really challenges the relaxing atmosphere the hotel wants to create towards their audience.

Unfortunately it was a bad experience. Let me start by saying that we are very demanding customers but from a structure of this type that claims to have top services, we expect to have top services.
I start from the bathroom of the room, renovated in a truly inadequate way, with the tiles in the shower different from those of the rest of the bathroom, with different taps for bidet, sink and shower and with a small window above the toilet which evidently has not been changed and from which one entered a decent cold draft!! The HORRIBLE breakfast, which not even at the 2-star guesthouse in Gabicce Mare: very few products and of very poor quality. The poor waiters who wandered among the tables without knowing what to do...
The first evening we tried the restaurant for dinner: absurd prices for the choice they offer and very minimal quantities!!!
Off to the spa. To reach it you would need a train!! I repeat that the rooms were really cold: imagine getting out of the micro tub (also cold) and having to move to the part where the outdoor pool is located (a little warmer and larger) but to do so you have to travel a long way - also signposted bad - and several corridors to reach a large room which is also cold with many plastic sunbeds next to each other (typical of a luxury resort). I finish with the massages. High prices, low quality. In case it wasn't clear, I failed this one too.
At the start I obviously pointed out all the negative sides, but I think I talked to a brick wall.
It's a shame because the location is really beautiful!

A beautiful discovery.
I used the full board formula with early cave visit by a scrub and mineralizing treatment with mud and fantastic massage, Alina a noteworthy expert!
Excellent cleaning of our suite.
Super nice staff in the lounge.
Great food and well presented.
The reception: too many unnecessary details and little empathy.
We will definitely return

Had as a gift 💝 it turned out to be a Beautiful and Relaxing Experience and then it is a... Five Stars and I said Everything! Dear All the Staff starting from Bartolomeo in the Lunch Room, Marco, Fabrizio and Eleonora, then Gianluca and Laura and Alessandra at the Reception 🛎️ the porter Karim and then All the Staff of the Wellness Center where we could book treatments with the Dearest Alessandra! Then the tour to the Grotto that is absolutely worth visiting and seeing! Cost 40 € per person for 50 (fifty minutes) between Paradise Purgatory and Hell passing by Lake Limbo where you get there after changing with a particular suit that looks like a “Franciscan sailor” but that is necessary because otherwise if you entered with your bathrobes you would come out soaked for the thermal benefits of this Great Cave Righteous One of a Kind that many illustrious people throughout history have visited it, Gassman, Giuseppe Verdi, Giuseppe Garibaldi etc... A special Commendation to Mr. Nazzareno that you will find inside the Cave! Then to the Dearest Lorenzo at the Bar! From Ten 🔟!!! And then Daniele Bravissimo who with his treatment has put me back in shape a shoulder that hurts me goes! Really Good 🔝 🔝 🔝

We stayed mid April 2023 for two nights. There is additional fees of 29€ for the underground thermal cave. However it does not include swimming in the cave as it is an additional charge of 100€ roughly for them to have professional diver to swim with you. All other areas on the resort premise as well as the spa property, are free of charge as part of your hotel stay.
