Cabin #10 needs a new floor. The carpet was filthy. Ths studio lacked comfortable seating to enjoy the fireplace and the TV. The lock to this room was unsafe. There was a hot tub in this unit with room for 1. I’d consider removing this tub to make room for comfortable chairs, This place has lots of potential but requires some TLC and attention to details. Owners should stay in the room to know this for themselves.
Stayed for 4 nights in a 1-bedroom cabin with the whirlpool. I was unsure what to expect given some of the critical reviews, but we are 100% happy and will definitely book again when we return one day. The cabin was spacious, clean, and well-stocked with all kitchen necessities for our family of 5. The whirlpool was a great treat, especially after being out in the snow. The location could not have been better, either. It really felt like everything was just minutes away--the village, the slopes, the zoo, etc! This is not the Four Seasons, but it IS a great family getaway that's comfortable, practical, and perfectly positions you to enjoy Big Bear.
This is our 2nd time staying at the Frontier and enjoyed the cabin. I love that the cabins are dog friendly as we wanted to come up for an overnight to have the pack play in the snow. Cabin 10 was nice and roomy and fits 2 people comfortably. My reason for the 4 vs 5 star is that the cabin did have a weird smell, not a dog smell but like a dirty person smell, however not a deal breaker since we had dogs in the cabin and it wasn't over whelming I just have a sensitive sense of smell, I would recommend using an ozone treatment for the cabin. I'm looking forward to booking the 3bdrm cabin in the future and bringing some friends along for a fun Big Bear stay. All the staff were friendly and polite. In fact I've already recommended this lodge to a few of our huksy friends.
The staff was nice, friendly and helpful. The view was beautiful and grilling areas clean. Property kept nice and clean all around. Bed was comfy. Area in general was breath taking. Had wonderful time. Mother kept it interesting with lots of good and cold weather.
We are grateful for the great communication and service Asst. Mgr. D. Tolbert and the front desk staff (Debbie) gave us. I was hospitalized and unable to make our reservation that weekend. They relieved our stress and took good care of us. Unheard of these days. We appreciate that hospitality so much. Thank you.
look no further! if you are heading to big bear, big bear frontier is the place to stay. affordable, clean, best location and very nice staff. They have a heated pool and jacuzzi. Their kitchen is complete with all that you need and it even comes with a free dishwashing soap and sponge I will definitely go back to big bear frontier.
We have stayed at the Frontier Lodge since 2017. This was the worse experience ever. The cabin we wanted was set for remodel so we were unable to book it. It took a week to find out why we couldn't get the cabin and the other lodge was full up by then, so we took another cabin #13 next to the swimming pool on the other side of the street. We were surprised to find a Tree Trunk stick out of the front mud room. At first we thought this was unique and were okay with it. But as the winds picked up we found the noise of the floor and ceiling creeking like an old wooden boat we were somewhat disturbed. The price for each night was DOUBLE what we have normally paid - total 314.XX a night. But this was the WEEK BEFORE XMAS. And we left on Dec 23rd. There was no maid service - we went to the desk to get our own towels, The bathroom fan does not work. And on the first day when we loaded the Refrigerator - a unique Electric Stove Top / Kitchen Sink/Refrigerator Combo- we woke up the next day to find all our food at frozen solid so much of it was thrown away (Veggies/Defrost meats/Eggs). The Jacuzzi was open until 10PM but when we arrived at 930PM the custodian had already locked it. So disappointed. The appliances should have been checked prior to our arrival. Kimble at the front desk was very pleasant but not there the next day. This room should have been at a huge discount.…
We booked a 3 bedroom cabin and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our family is from Hawaii and planned a vacation to Cali for Disney and Universal ...we added a brief stay at Big Bear and plan to come back and stay at Big Bear Frontier even longer next time. On this trip, we stayed at a few Marriott Hotels in L.A., Anaheim and San Bernadino and this place was our favorite. Walking into the Lobby was like walking into a Hallmark movie, it was rustic and beautifully decorated for the occasion. Check in was quick and easy, Thank you. Our Cabin was equally rustic, clean and well equipped for our large family. We started a fire pretty quick as it was cold for us, the heater in the cabin helped warm us up too. It snowed before we got there, so our kids started playing in the snow than ended up on the basketball court, where they enjoyed a few games of horse. We enjoyed the heated pool, it was 20 degrees outside, but short walk to cabin was convenient. Our family went to the Alpine slide for tubing, it was just a few minutes down the road from Cabin. Village is just a few minutes up the road for shopping and dining. Great location. This is my first TripAdvisor review, I’ve never been motivated to write a review until now and we are frequent travelers. Thank you for a memorable stay, we had a great experience and will be back again.…
The Big Bear Frontier had a rustic vibe that was quite enjoyable. I had a room in the hotel section instead of a cabin, and it was quite comfortable. There is no air conditioning but my room had a ceiling fan as well as an oscillating fan so it was cool enough, although I had to keep a window open. There is an in-room fireplace, which I obviously didn't need in August but which would be fun to have in the winter. The room had a table with two chairs but I would have liked to have had a more comfortable chair to sit in to read or watch TV. The tub/shower was badly cracked on the bottom and the faucet on the sink was loose and sloppy, making it a bit hard to adjust the water temperature. Perhaps management could pay a little more attention to these details but my one night stay was fine overall. Like most hotels in the area, the price was much higher on the weekend.…
My family first tried Frontier Resorts about 8 years ago on the recommendation of a friend. We have been coming her every summer since then and always stay in the same cabin. It's true it needs a face lift.....If you want luxury don't stay here. But it's quiet, and staring out at the lake from our porch helps us to de stress. It is comfortable, has a tiny kitchenette if you want to eat some meals in and has a pool and hot tub at the clubhouse. The property is beautiful, making you feel like you are in the woods. Plus it's pet friendly and close to the Village, a great park, hiking and a family fun center.
