The rooms at Ohau are adequate without being 4 or 5 star. But as a place to stay between riding days for A2O is was fantastic. The staff were great and so was their service and the food dinner, breakfast and our packed lunch

Thank you for your review and we really appreciate Trip Advisor for giving guests the opportunity to accurately portray their experience. We absolutely know that we are not 4 or 5 star and I hope that this was not what you were expecting as it is definitely not where we position ourselves. We are 3 star but as you recognised...

We stayed here on our A2O cycle trip and it was our most enjoyable stay of the trip. The location is stunning; you are right amongst the mountains and the views from the restaurant and lounge are lovely. We stayed in the Huxley Wing. While it is basic and the cleaning needed to be a bit more thorough, the bed...

Thank you for writing your review. It is much appreciated. How wonderful that it was the most enjoyable stay of your trip, that's great to hear. I know that we have the most delicious food and that our staff are gorgeous, we really have a great team here. I'm sorry that your impression of the cleaning in your room was...

Great place to stay the night on the Alps to Ocean journey. The Huxley wing rooms were clean with a comfortable bed. Communal dining was a great chance to catch up with fellow cyclists after a long soak in the spa pool. Only downside was having to work around the Contiki tour bus group resulting in later dinner and breakfast...

Thank you, it is great to receive your review of the Huxley wing as being clean and comfortable. They are our cheaper rooms and just small but still a good level of comfort. It's a bit of a "thing" here at the Lodge, joining guests up with others for dinner when we can and we get it that it can...

We had ridden from Twizel as part of the Alps2Ocean trail and were very much looking forward to a rest and revive after a long day in the saddle the previous day. The lodge is located about 6km outside of the very small settlement so it is quiet and secluded. We stayed in the main section of the lodge and...

Thank you for your review. Sounds as if you really appreciated the amazing food that we offer here. Ohau we love families - it is definitely one of our strengths, providing for families and groups. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the A2O trail.

The rooms are old with basic facilities. My family was in Maitland Wing triple room, my concern is very much the bunker. The space between upper & lower bunker is too low that I cannot sit up at all. I'm an Asian with 5'5, just cannot imagine how a Kiwi can do this. The upper bunker is setup without any...

I think overall this is a really lovely review so thank you. The Maitland wing charge for dinner, bed and breakfast is $111 per person for two adults and most guests would comment that this is a fair price - and if you have children with you then over and above the two adults, they are $49 so we really...

We stayed in the lodge after a lovely day of cycling from Twizel. The lodge is dated probably early 1960's for the room we stayed in. The furniture is of the era. As if you stepped back in time however furniture no longer new and in poor condition. The sandflies in the room came free. Our room did have a...

Oh dear, I find this review a little depressing. I guess the Lodge is not for everyone. Today I have had two separate comments from guests staying who both were overwhelmingly saying how special and unique the Lodge was BECAUSE of its 1970's architecture. They loved the divider in the room and the timbers that were used. One of our...

Liked the room with Mountain and lake view. Had dinner in the hotel and a lot was flavourful and fresh. Would stay and eat there again. Cons, the vegetables were very overlooked at dinner, the bathroom curtain was dirty, and the tiny shampoos required us to use our own we brough.

Thank you for your review. We have in fact just changed our brand of shampoos etc to the Forest and Bird brand. Every time you use one of these products a percentage of its value goes directly to Forest & Bird to support their invaluable work in protecting animals and wild places, on land and in our oceans. These products...

I loved this hotel, I stopped over here for a Contiki tour and it's communal space for dinner and guest areas (table tennis and bar) was great! Loved it! Only downside was that the rooms were quite basic, perhaps a TV would be good but I understand it's purpose is more a bed and breakfast type place. Loved the food...

Hi there, thank you for your review. I'm so glad that you loved it. The Contiki rooms are our cheaper Maitland wing rooms which are simple but have all the requirements including a bath. We have been told many times by our guests NOT to get TVs in the rooms and we agree. This place is communal and we think...

Thank you for writing. We are an old building, built in 1951 so it's character is of that time which is becoming pretty rare in the beautiful places of NZ. I'm so glad that you appreciated the gorgeous staff that we have, we love them and yes, we are very proud of the food that we serve here. We hope...
