I stayed at the Bucket Tree Lodge for 4 nights. As I had grown up in the area and was unable to stay with family this was my first choice. I was not disappointed. The setting and gardens are lovely, the room I had was recently renovated, very clean (and I am picky), the beds comfortable, plenty of parking space...

This hotel room was overpriced ($100 more than in Wellington city). They use the fact that there is no competition to their advantage! The room was modestly redecorated (even the mould in the shower was growing back around the shower already!). My clothes were damp after two days hanging in the closet. My pyjamas smelt "mouldy" after two nights In...

Stayed here one night prior to crossing to the South Island as it is only about 15 minutes down SH1 to the Interislander Ferry. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. They happily provided local knowledge and directions as well as advice on best rates for booking other hotels. The room we had...

Stayed here for 4 nights before moving to the South Island. After 3 months touring all of New Zealand and a small part of Australia Bucket Tree Lodge is our top motel. Really nice people, very helpful. Room was perfect and spotless. Location is 4 minutes walk from the train into town ( 1 stop). Parking in Wellington is a...

Traveling from Wellington CBD to Porirua, Bucket Tree Lodge is very conveniently located. The landmark is Bucket Tree on Boscobel Lane. Ideal place for a night break where everything needed for a night's peaceful rest is found.

Had a one night stay in a unit currently under going an upgrade, found it too be clean & comfortable but was a bit disappointed that the upgrade hadn't been completed before being up for let. Part of the paving stones on the main access way had been uplifted for a plumbing repair which hasn't been completed but been a...

Great stay and friendly hosts. Freshly renovated room was bright and fresh. Close to public transport and motorways very handy for an early morning cook strait ferry. Will stay again. Double glazed windows worked a treat for the train line over the fence.

I am not sure what the problem is we the other reviews. The location was great only a 2 minute walk to the train station to Wellington (Saves travelling in by car and having to find a parking place in Wellington. !!!). The hosts were very helpful and gave us all the information we needed. As for the accommodation we...

This Motor Inn is looking tired and was overpriced for its' condition. We stayed in an upper lodge room that desperately needs updating - the bathroom is old , the wallpaper is torn in the corners. Our milk in the little jug was sour. On the plus side, we walked into the village of Tawa and felt like we in...

Older motel in need of some TLC. Owner is doing up some rooms and is working on the place, but he seems to be running the whole motel and trying to do up the rooms all on his own ! It appears to be getting him down and his attitude and behaviour is not good. There is a lot of...
