Our hosts, John and Ann, made our stay at the Mahana one of the highlights of our NZ vacation. We stayed for two nights and would have been happy to stay longer. The grounds are beautiful and a visit to John's vegetable garden is a must. The set-up at the Mahana is unlike any we have experienced. The "lodge" is...

We spent 5 wonderful nights at the Mahana Lodge in October. The lodge is spacious with a very homey atmosphere. We especially enjoyed being able to take day walks on the beautiful Queen Charlotte Track. John was extremely helpful in assisting us in planning our walks. His knowledge and love of the area made our stay at the lodge very...

A one night stay at Mahana whilst doing the full QCT hike was a great experience. The hospitality, personal touch from the welcome on our arrival to the exceptionally good meals and beautifully laid out "rooms with a view" were such a delight. It was a privilege to stay in this special place.

Stayed here when walking the QCT and LOVED it! Right on the water with a fabulous view of the sound. Our room was most comfortable with lovely crisp linen sheets. John's home smoked salmon is to die for, not to mention the rest of the meal, home grown vegetables, all delicious! A perfect place to rest a very weary head!...

We recently spent the night at Mahana as part of our walk on the Queen Charlotte Track. What a magical place to arrive at after 5 hours walking. The owners John and Ann made us feel more like welcome family than guests. John had the fire going for us in the lodge we had to ourselves and we looked out...

Our beautiful room which included an attached (and spotless) bathroom was at the top of the property and had breathtaking views of the sound in several directions. Hosts John and Ann did countless things, large and small, to make us comfortable and happy — from packing us lunches to pointing out the unique wildlife that they've worked to foster and...

My daughter and I recently stayed at Mahana Lodge while walking the QC track. Hosts John and Ann could not do enough for us. We kayaked on the magical sound in the afternoon after our arrival, a beautiful still autumn afternoon. We were the only ones staying the night due to the end of the season and start of winter,...

The second of our lodges on the QCT, it was certainly a memorable stay. Given the beauty of the track, for the lodge view to be better is saying something. It is a bit of a walk from the track itself, but well worth the effort. Our room was up the hill and the view back to the sound spectacular....

We spent 3 days and nights hiking on the Queen Charlotte Track, staying at a different small hotel or B & B each night. Mahana Lodge was not only the best of the 3 by far but one of the top places we stayed during a 5 week trip to New Zealand. We prefer small inns and hotels and really...

We stayed at Mahana Lodge just before Christmas for one night when we were walking the QCT. Fabulous setting at the water's edge. Our room in the lodge was very comfortable and had every thing we needed, including a deck and clothes rack to hang dirty walking trousers. The kitchen and lounge areas were great and there were delicious home...
