Looking the same and giving the same service of forced smiles. We believe that the trend of ultra-modern takes away the atmosphere and therefore leaves for less close interaction with our customers. That's why at the Rusland Pool our aim is to make the hotel feel like a home. Furthermore, we would like our guests to feel like one of the family and to feel completely relaxed. To enjoy what the beauty of Lake District has to offer. We don't stop there we understand how difficult it can be for people with special dietary needs to find something to eat. Let alone for it to be tasty or find staff who care and want to help. Since we are not like other Hotels and restaurants, the Rusland Pool will put you first as true Lakeland hospitality should. To provide your taste buds with the finest in Lakeland cuisine. We have a menu comprising of 69 gluten/dairy/lactose-free dishes for you to choose.

Arrived and were welcomed by the staff. Despite check in being 4pm (due to covid restrictions) our room was ready at 2pm and we checked in early. The room was an executive in the small annex next door (room 8) and all room facilities were excellent.

The in room was broken however a replacement was provided within 10 minutes of asking.

The only small niggle with the room was the shower tube in the bathroom was leaking which did not help a slight lack of pressure when other rooms were also using water. However this is a common feature of older buildings and it did not impact our stay.

We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed excellent and service. Prices were competitive and reasonable considering we were on the edge of the Lake District where everything is at a premium.

Next morning, we had booked breakfast for 9am and in typical fashion for us were early. This was not a problem and we were seated at our table at 0830. The breakfast had to be pre-chosen the night before along with a time. In normal circumstances this would be a negative (having to choose breakfast just after our evening meal) however given the current covid restrictions it was understandable.

The hotel did meet and stick to all covid requirements that I am aware of.

Initial booking was via booking.com however this was hit and miss. The details provided to the hotel for our credit card (which were valid and perfectly fine) did not seem to work. However, this was not a problem, we cancelled the booking and booked directly with the hotel.

All in all a very pleasant stay and I would use again if I required a hotel in that area.

Myself and husband stayed here August Bank Holiday. There were a few restrictions in place due to COVID, but these were very well managed, breakfast orders were taken the night before. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, the food was excellent, in particular the home made steak in ale pie, the staff were lovely, friendly and very attentive. Although the hotel is situated on the A590, there is no noise pollution, as you might expect. Ideally situated for easy access to wherever you may want to visit. Also great walking from the doorstep. Would definitely recommend Rusland Pool Hotel for a friendly welcome.

We went to the Rusland Pool whilst on our holiday in the Lake District. The place is very comfortable and relaxing and there is an extensive menu.

All the meals we ordered were well cooked and the prices are really reasonable for the quality of food they serve.

There is a children’s park at the side which is great for little ones and the service was excellent.

Would highly recommend.

Took my parents for my Mothers birthday meal, we all plumped for the 6 oz rump steak. At £12 for the steak served with a few chips and mushrooms thought it should be reasonable. All three steaks were tough and gristly, My Mother was the only one of us with sense enough to complain and had another steak cooked for her which was slightly better quality but undercooked. After all three mentioned it after the end of the meal the staff member had a word with the cook who told her he would mention it to his meat supplier. In all £50 for four soft drinks some chips and a piece of warm rubber. Nice staff though to whom my Mother still gave a good tip.

There were four of us booked in for a meal about 2 weeks previously, having heard good reports about the food and how good it is for special diets e.g. gluten free vegan etc. The room we were allotted was at the back of the hotel in a freezing cold conservatory as opposed to the main dining area at the front of the hotel which looked warm and cosy, nicely decorated and people eating and enjoying the warmth and hospitality. Now I don't know what we had done to deserve such an awful room as opposed to the cosy ambience of the main bar and restaurant, we were local people who had booked well in advance but were treated like second class tourists who would never come back. Well I can tell you now we WON'T ever be going back. As for the food; it was atrocious, 2 of us had tasteless vegetable 'soup' the others did not say how bad their starters were but from their reaction you could assume they did not enjoy them. I went for the fold baked sea bass with prawns, baked jacket potato and vegetables. The fish was tasteless, the potato was not crisp and fluffy inside, it was plonked on the plate without butter and the 'veg' was about as tasteless as the veg soup. There was a special Christmas menu for £19.95 with three courses which 3 of our party went for but were not very impressed or complimentary about any of it. The Christmas pudding needed a magnifying glass to see it and was gone in 2 mouthfuls, my melon and pineapple dessert had about 2 pieces of each placed in a glass about the size of cocktail glass but the fruit coulis was tasty. All this rubbish for over £200 and we didn't have wine either so all in all, not good. We will not be returning, I couldn't wait to get home and get warmed up and sink my teeth into a tasty apple!

Four friends have been for lunch here, one of whom it was her first visit. At this time of covid restrictions, this was the safest restaurant that we have ever been in. Every member of staff were working perfectly with safety in mind. Tables and chairs wiped down and sanitised immediately after guests left. All wore appropriate masks. Tabes were spaced out correctly. The type of service expected normally in a top restaurant was top class and the food, as it always is at Rusland Pool, was perfect. What lovely staff, what great food, what fantastic service.

Stayed here for 4 Nights, lovely little hotel with very friendly accommodating staff, was made to feel very welcome from the start, the room we booked was comfortable and extremely clean, the food was very nice and decent choices on the menu. They have a lovely little seating area outside which was nice as the weather was great, and I would seriously recommend the steak & ale pie on this menu Amazing!!.
We would definitely come back to this hotel again had a lovely stay here.

We spent two days here recently and our over all reaction was disappoining. The hotel feels like it needs a reboot. The room we stayed in was number one and was perfectly clean. However is felt like it needed a refresh as it was a tad dated. It faces a busy road and if you use the window to control the temprature the noise will be an issue. We ate in the restraunt on the first evening and though the menu is large they would be better offering more local dishes. I had a burger that at £17 is not cheap but when it was very dry we decided not to eat there a second night. Breakfast was ok but again deep fryed mushrooms are not for me.

We spent one night here, the hotel was in an excellent location for exploring the southern lakes which we had not done previously. Felt very safe with all the covid measures, the room was spacious and very clean.

Breakfast was amazing as the staff went above and beyond to cater for all dietary requirements - gluten free and vegan can be a challenge when eating out!

Would definitely reccomend!
