We visited as a group of four for a birthday meal on a Saturday evening. Like the previous reviewer there was only one other couple dining apart from us which was no reflection on the quality and prices. They really should be packed out.

The restaurant is located about 2Km up a narrow road that winds up to a hilltop over the village of Verzeille, which is probably why it is quiet. You can think that you are heading to nowhere as there was only one further sign directing us after we left the village. The Auberge is part of a complex that has an extensive horse riding centre and gites nearby, so you cannot miss it.

On our visit it was pleasant enough to dine outside on the terrace which made for a nice atmosphere. The menu is not extensive but reflects the size of the business and the quality is high. There were two fixed price menus available @ 20 and 30 Euro with wine between 18-30Euro a bottle.

We would definitely visit again.

We passed a sign to the Auberge when on th e Verzeille to St Hillaire road and turned off to find it.It is quite a long way and we nearly gave up so keep going it is worth it. It was a cold windy evening so there was no eating outside. We had the cheapest menu at 23 euros and it was very good. We had steak for our main course and they were huge - far too much for me especially after a delicious terrine and to leave some room for pudding. We were the only people dining in the early evening which was not a reflection on the food - they deserved to be full. On a nice evening the views are beautiful. The next night we went to the nearby chateau de Cavanac and paid twice the price for no where near the quality or quantity. We were not staying at the accommodation so cannot comment on that. More
