From the first emails we exchanged, the owner was very rude. Once there, we spent 1 night in an awful bungalow for which I paid 30 U$. Ugly toilet, not clean, nothing positive. I booked 3 nights in the only bungalow with air con they have (55U$). After the second night the toilet was blocked and when I tried to use the water hose it was disconnected. When I told the owner, he shouted at me and my son and told us we had to leave. He cut electricity power before I finished packing and like dogs, he kicked us out of the bungalow. M'pai bay was a big mistake: loud music, screams until 2am, dirty place, people drunk and drugged day and night (including the owner of the hotel who was smoking all the time!) There aren't many good choices in M'pai bay but this one is the worst one
Booked it on booking.com. Can't say anything good - we've left immediately without check in. Cancellation is good and fast, the guy charged only 1 night out of 11 booked. Well, that was really shocking experience. Never had anything like that before. 1. The room looked awful. No, Thomas (the host), it doesn't look the same as on photos. On the photos - lovely bungalow, IRL - dark room with dilapidated walls, several big nests of ants and in the very end of the territory. Please, attach the toilet photos as well! 2. The territory is messy. I've expected a rocky beach, but I didn't expect that I'll have to jump on stones and roots with a trail barely available. It really looks quite fine near the bar and more expensive bungalows, but later on it shifts to scorched earth (guys probably burned some leaves), stones, dry corals and trash on the 'shoreline'. It is not a rustic landscape, guys, believe me! 3. The host initially looked a cool guy, but as soon as we dared to express some dissatisfaction he started pushing that everything is OK and WTF we are disappointed. Finally he said: ''If you don't like your room, then get away. You won't be happy here and I don't need unhappy guests. Just pay me for 1 night for booking cancellation and get away wherever you want'' O_o That's really a new way of service! Don't waste money, guys! You will find much better options for 30$/night!…
the place itself is such a beautiful part of m'pay bay. the khmer lasses are super friendly and the food they prepare is pretty decent. saying that the french owner is not a nice person. i discovered he is not well liked by many people here in the bay. that's why my overall rating for sunset bungalows is poor unfortunately
The accommodation comprises very basic bungalows (wooden huts with beds). The bungalows benefit from superb sea views which makes up for the basic accommodation. What more do you need! The accommodation is situated at the end of the bay in a really, nice chilled out area. The bungalows are served by a central dining area which serves really nice food - especially the evening barbecue. Contrary to other reviews, the staff are friendly and helpful. Would stay again for the experience. In my view, this area is one of the best on Koh Rong Sanloem.
My bungalow was beautifully nestled in greenery, a little tucked away from the general bustle of the beach and very private. As the name implies it does offer breathtaking views of the sunset and the porch area of the balcony is perfect for relaxation. The bungalow itself was comfortable, clean, spacious with shelf-space and the water pressure was surprisingly good. The restaurant is nice and comfortable and the service very friendly. Do note that bungalows numbered 4 and above offers more privacy than the lower numbers as they are further away from the footpath and there will be less foot-traffic coming down that way. There is reasonable working wifi in the restaurant area but not in the rooms.
