The CHARLTON INN, Charlton Marshall. Haven't be here since it changed hands, pleasantly surprised, if you're over 65 you get a good deal, the food is well cooked and on hot plates. Lin and l will definitely try here again, this time with younger food.

Looks like a sweet little place, and on arrival the room seemed lovely. However, it contains, hands down, the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in. Frankly we would have been more comfortable sleeping in the car, a thought which crossed my mind numerous times in the night. Not entirely sure what it is we paid for - a...

I stayed for one night as visiting my son who lives nearby. The rooms sit behind the pub, I was a bit worried about noise but it was fine. The room was clean and everything I needed was on hand. The only issue was breakfast. At check in I was told that breakfast was between 8-9.30 in the pub. Next...

One night was more than enough! I had tried to book our stay at the Charlton Inn through its website but the system refused to work. I then emailed - and got no response. At this point I should have given up but the place was handy for people we wanted to visit, so I ultimately booked through Expedia. When...

Terrible food, I asked for gluten free tomato soup and was served a bowl of tomato passata. With sliced gluten free cardboard bread and tiny butter portion. My daughter then had rocky road ice cream which didn't look or taste very nice. Robbery.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat at lunchtime. Lovely quaint pub The pub was empty although it was early. It was really cold with no heating. menu choice seemed good and bar staff pleasant but the food was dreadful. Side order of macaroni cheese was no more than 3 teaspoons of macaroni in a plain floury white sauce...

The food was produced within five minutes. The vegetables were tasteless and like cardboard. The beef was wafer thin, half cooked and stringy like chewing gum. I would not want another roast there even if they it free.

I had business in Blandford early morning, so traveled down the evening before and stayed here. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The Charlton is a "proper pub", with a healthy number of locals enjoying themselves, but it also serves excellent food which would not be out of place somewhere marketing themselves as a gastro-pub. Having dropped my bag...

Arranged to meet friends here for lunch and booked a table. Food was average (burgers were well overlooked) but the service was very poor. They were busy but there was no sensible system in place so it took a long time to both order and then pay at the end. Shame as it's been done up nicely but I doubt...
