Just returned from an 8 day fishing adventure at Hyatt's Outpost Camp on Pettit Lake. This is my 6th trip to Hyatt's and my first to the Pettit Cabin, traditionally we stay on Mount Lake #3 in June. Pettit is a very nice rustic cabin on a beautiful sand beach. Solar Array charges batteries, which power pump (lake water), and lighting. There is a hot water heater and shower in the cabin and currently a outhouse. Although Don is planning to install a flush pit toilet. Don and Brenda Hyatt are very gracious hosts and deliver ice, gasoline etc right to your outpost. Don portages your boat into the system which has interconnecting lakes making Peanut, Pettit, Walleye Kitchen, Mount, Pollack and Ollie Lakes very easy access and Sand Beach Lake depending on water levels may require some getting out of the boat to gain access. The only draw back is the dock is exposed to southerly winds which can cause some sleepless nights checking your boat every couple of hours. My advice is bring along 100' of rope to secure the dock to a tree as an insurance policy. There are mooring floats to secure your boat to off shore. The water is shallow, although did not want to get in each morning as the water is kinda chilly this time of year. Would be nice to have a dingy to use when mooring your boat. The thing I like the most (besides the fishing) is the remote almost fly-in feeling and yet you are a portage away from civilization. .Walleyes, Lake Trout, Small Mouth Bass, Northern all await your visit!…
This was my first trip to Canada for fishing and it was a great experience. Our cabin on Lake Mount was a rustic primitive but still had a shower...which was much appreciated after a long day of handling fish. One should note that the outhouse is approaching a 'full' state...if you know what I mean. I would recommend this location to anyone looking to escape the hustle of modern living for a wildlife experience without the interruption of cellular or Internet.
Our family stayed at the Hyatts Camp , August 2015 Our stay was excellent , fishing was great and we were able to do some swimming. A great place for a relaxing vacation for the family. Richard Erlander Duluth MN
Excellent fishing..excellent cabin. .excellent staff....! My Son and I had an A+ trip here. The smallmouth fish was excellent and they are the only Lodge on the lake so it is very private. Easy to drive too...but still in the middle of nowhere!
What can I say if there were 6 stars this resort would deserve it.The owners were so accomadating always available for answers and help.Cabin number 2 was beautiful,CLEAN, beds were perfect and having a group of 8 they were spacious. This was my first fishing trip and that part of the trip was exciting and successful. The price was amazing and in Canadian dollars. We decided before we left on Sunday that we will be back next year same dates same cabin....Thank you Hyatt Family
