Escape at Nonsuch Bay Antigua offers a serene, adults-only getaway with its remote location appreciated for its tranquility, although the seclusion comes with a recommendation to pack insect repellent. Guests have consistently lauded the rooms for their cleanliness and the luxury of private plunge pools, despite slight wear. The elegant atmosphere and breathtaking bay views are notable, although the entertainment occasionally falls short for some. Service is frequently commended for its attentiveness and professionalism. While the resort's cleanliness is a highlight, visitors suggest renting a car for more economical island exploration, hinting at the resort's somewhat isolated position. Amenities such as diverse dining options are well-regarded, yet the beach facilities sometimes receive mixed reviews.

Each room is accessed from outside with its own entrance. The room is modern, with great air-conditioning, an open bathroom area, albeit with a toilet that has a door, and large shower. Each room has a terrace that overlooks the garden or the garden and the sea in the distance and each has its own mattress and plunge pool, exactly as you see in the photo. There is a large bath on the terrace too, which was lovely. The restaurant offers a 3 course lunch and 4 course dinner, usually with 4 options for the main course for dinner. They catered well for my husband's gluten free requirement. The house drinks are included (it is an all inc resort) such as fizz, house wine and some spirits. There was a more limited choice of soft drinks and bottled fizzy water is not included. There is a beautiful quiet beach a short walk up and down a steep hill, but the mini bus also will do the transfers at set times. Beach loungers are provided free of charge and there is a little bar too. There is a small communal swimming pool with sun loungers too next to the open air restaurant. All the staff were super helpful and friendly. This is a small, quiet resort which is great for relaxing. You really need a hire car to get around the island (drive same side as UK but giant pot holes). You can book a taxi to do the airport transfer too which takes around 35 mins.

Fantastic resort hotel in lovely location with outstanding rooms which are expertly designed for privacy and exclusion and with wonderful views across the bay.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious with all amenities and with a fantastic plunge pool on the balcony so if you want privacy away from it all it’s perfect.
It is a quiet and intimate resort but there was some great evening entertainment over the seasonal period in the pool/bar/reception area for those wanting some more fun which did not impact the tranquility of your room terrance if preferred.
Food was al a carte in the all inclusive package but we found plenty of variety/choice and of very high standard. It is not an extensive choice on the menu but there are 4 courses with a two choice starter, two choice intermediate including a gorgeous soup every day and then mains with meat, fish and vegetarian choice as well as an “in house” burger. Read some people found the food “bland” which I completely disagree with as all courses were very tasty and well presented while retaining that lovely home cooked we really care feel.
The service in the restaurant/ bar was super friendly and efficient and the waiting times between courses was perfect.
We found reception staff always friendly and very helpful with an extensive list of activities and excursions available. We opted for a hire car for freedom to explore and proved much more cost effective than taxis or arranged/guided tours but each to their own.
There is a resort beach a short free shuttle ride across headland with beach bar included in the package for those wanting to stay local. The sea and immediate beach area are clean and well maintained with free beds but wonder further a field and you witness more litter and less attractive shore lines. Must say many of the Caribbean beaches although clean have lost the “crystal clear water” often used as a marketing tag for the Caribbean. As an avid snorkeller I did find this disappointing as visibility was poor in many locations and clear water bays are hard to find but guess a consequence of over tourism/heavy boat traffic and what many say is rising sea temperatures.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay. It really is an Escape and we left feeling relaxed and refreshed.

The hotel is on the east coast so the beach isn't the best however there was a lot less seaweed than I expected and the hotel does its upmost to keep it clear. It is only around a 40 minute drive from the east coast if you did want to explore those beaches.

The food is excellent. Don't expect an All Inclusive resort with lots of restaurants and buffets; this is so much better with each meal being a la carte. Breakfast has continental and cooked options and the specials were always brilliant and worth a try. Lunch and Dinner were choices from a small menu, always vegetarian options and always a burger available and at dinner steak and lobster at a supplement. The food was varied and well cooked and the service generally great.

The bar although small was well stocked and we could always get whatever drinks we fancied. The house wine was also good particularly for an all inclusive. The bar staff were wonderful, particularly Daniel and the other barman (I cannot remember his name).

The rooms were really special; I've never been to a hotel where I was happy to spend so much time in my room. Each one has a private plunge pool and they are really set up to spending time with your loved one with privacy. There's a tray in each room which can be filled with your favourite drinks and taken to your room and the hotel is also happy to do you lunch/ bar snacks etc to be taken to your room if you wish.

Rooms are clean and spacious. The TVs have Netflix and YouTube (you don't need your own account to access) which was fine for us.

The hotel is on a quieter part of the island but car hire is cheap if you want to do this. We just hired taxis which the hotel sorted for us which made it really easy and we tended to have the same drivers which was nice.

The staff were really helpful throughout and Keira on the front desk was so welcoming.

The hotel is quiet which is what we were looking for but if you like a lively setting this is probably not the hotel for you. They do have some dinner entertainment a few nights a week but everyone tended to head to their room by around 10pm. The bar would be open until around 11pm.

We did the picnic on Green Island. Devon was wonderful and stopped on the way back so we could watch the turtles which made my day! This was a highlight and recommend it if you want a special afternoon. As on the east coast, there is some sargassum on Green Island but it didn't bother us.

This hotel was extremely good value for money and we would absolutely return for another Escape to Paradise!

We arrived here on a Saturday night, the guy that brought us from the airport was lovely and the staff on arrival were incredibly friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice and bed was comfy. Unfortunately our pool was dirty, I was told if I asked they would clean it.
The problem is whoever cleans your room or pool, they leave the doors wide open. This lets lizards and spiders into your room. The worst part is the mosquitoes coming in and there’s a lot of them here. So unfortunately we didn’t want our room cleaned much.
Drinks were nice , some people weren’t great at making them but most were.
The food was pretty disappointing. The bbq was amazing and they should definitely do that more. The meals were very carb loaded. At times only carbs with very little of anything else. Just plain noodles or pasta , very poor!
When there was something nice on the menu like a curry, the portions were that small. Always very little vegetables or meat. I did complain and was told there’s been a few complaints.
Unfortunately we stayed at another hotel for a night, to enjoy a better hotel and food. We were annoyed about this.
I never once on this holiday felt full . Portions were far too small and I’m not even a big eater.
Most staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very far from anything and also not the best beach.
Would we stay here again…… no definitely not.
Food and drinks are a big part of your holiday and if they focused more on making people happy and not cutting corners and saving money then they’d do well. When the food was good it was tasty …… but still tiny portions.
When it was bad it was terrible.
Plain noodles with 2-3 pieces of shredded carrot or red cabbage is poor! And just not ok.
Felt more like school dinners.
Was meant to be a 40th birthday trip but was definitely disappointed unfortunately.

What a blissful relaxing resort! Had a wonderful 10’days in this secluded high quality hotel. Staff are incredible l.. apologies I didn’t catch all the names but thanks to all the receptionists whose response to any question was always no problem. Wane in the bar your cocktails are lethal but lovely! Karen, Mr Gore and Alain served us the most amazing food and ensured we had plenty to drink when Ivanka was being lovely at the beach bar. Maxine always the life and soul of the party alongside her service in the restaurant and Teori was never grumpy about driving us up and down the big hill to and from the beach! Wonderful human beings!! Plus obviously all the housekeeping, maintenance and grounds staff that keep this resort in lovely condition. The beach was hit by the huge climate change issue of sargasm seaweed but the beach guy ;sorry not sure of name) keeps it looking as tidy as possible and ensure there is a clear path for a dip despite the slight whiff!! This resort is isolated but on a small island that isn’t a problem. Many people hired cars or reception could book taxis to go out and about. I didn’t do any of the hotels excursions or additional activities but know people enjoyed the trips to green island.going out of season made this affordable for us and the weather was fine so feel like it was bonus to visit Antigua without all the noise and hustle of the super rich on their super yachts. Shirley Heights and the Sringray/tortoise trips are essentials as is a reflective trip to Nelson’s Habour to understand the suffering of Antiguan people at the hands of the. British! Thank goodness they seem to be forgiving and have us a warm welcome whenever we went. Would highly recommend this island to anyone and this resort to couples young and old looking for relaxation and maybe a little romance if desired!!!

This was our 20th wedding anniversary and we are happy we stayed at the Escape. From the moment we arrived the staff on every level were fantastic. You could have anything, you just had to ask. The bar staff are so much fun, friendly and know their cocktails. They decorated our room beautifully. The room was spotless the whole time and had everything you needed including coffee and toiletries, ie soaps, shampoo, conditioner, the aircon was definitely needed. The Beach is not what I was expecting as BA doesn't really show the correct images. The beach bar wasn't in use( The hotel does bring drinks in a cool box) and the toilets weren't available for the first week but are now, and being painted. The food was OK, there was plenty to choose from and you would never go hungry but I expected better quality. Breakfast was the same each day but the lunches and dinner varied. The service in the restaurant was hit or miss, sometimes really great and sometimes they just didnt listen. There was a barbq 2 times while we were there, the 1st time the food and entertainment was great and the 2nd time the food was not so great. We did Green Island and it wasn't like the video shows , a lot smaller, but it was ok to snorkel. The hubbie got a pic of a turtle. Would I go back, NO. The reason is the mosquitos, we used spray with 50% deet and still got bitten all over at the restaurant and bar, then still got bitten in the night with the aircon on. Lots of people were getting bitten. I even sprayed the room but they found me. I didn't make use of the lovely plunge pool because of the mossies. I still enjoyed my time away with my husband. The staff make this resort. We also hired a car from Petes Taxis, very competitive and great car. Went to Half Moon Bay 3 days to sunbathe and had lunch at the Beach Bum bar. We did the Shirley Heights trip through the resort and had a great time. We saw lots of Mongoose and wildlife. Thank you everyone at "The Escape", we enjoyed it because of you.

I booked this as a relaxing Caribbean break having been to Barbados last year.

Personally I would not come back here but let's look at the positives first; rooms with plunge pools is such a great experience and the beds were very comfortable, I did the turtle snorkeling trip which was absolutely amazing, BBQ night was very tasty, reception was helpful.

Moving onto why I wouldn't come back. I've been to an a la carte all inclusive before but this food was absolutely terrible, barely any fruit or vegetables. I asked for more vegetables and no shell fish due to an allergy. I don't really feel like anything extra was done to accommodate this and would not recommend this resort for anyone with food restrictions or allergies. The options were limited always including what we like to call "the fallback burger" which was one of the four entree options every lunch and dinner. The food itself tasted cheap and processed. Breakfast really should be a buffet because it took at least 45-60 mins every morning to get a cooked breakfast, before this arrived you could attempt to crunch into the same unripe melon plate every day.
When I booked acres of gardens were advertised with a close by beach and additional facilities... be mindful that this isn't really for the escape guests as a lot of the gardens and additional facilities are for residents and some additional facilities at the beach have been rented out to a private company which will charge you extra. The beach has sun beds but no umbrellas so you can't stay for too long.
I knew this was a small hotel when I booked but the bar area didn't have enough seats for guests and felt like it needed a deep clean. It felt like guests were encouraged to spend the majority of time in their rooms due to a lack of space.

Thank you for your review Emily a. We're happy you were pleased with your private plunge pool, our BBQ night meal offerings and our helpful reception staff. We genuinely regret that we fell short of meeting your expectations, particularly regarding the accommodation of your dietary needs as well as the wait times at breakfast. We do understand the importance of catering to guests with food restrictions and allergies, and it deeply concerns us that we were unable to provide you with a satisfactory dining experience. We will be addressing these concerns promptly with our team to implement necessary improvements. At The Escape, we take pride in offering a comprehensive all-inclusive experience to our valued guests which includes all meal offerings at our Drift Restaurant, all poured beverages at the bar and access to non-motorized watersports. The Rokuni Restaurant, is independently owned and operated. While it is located within our resort premises, it operates separately from our all-inclusive package. Guests who choose to dine at the Rokuni Restaurant may incur additional charges, as it is not included in our standard all-inclusive offering. Hi we loved staying here and had an amazing time they have some fantastic staff that looked after us brilliantly Charles, Carl, teymika, Karen, Andre, Nicole, Shania,Maxine,Cher, Ivana Donna mae, there are a couple I can’t remember their name not one member of staff was unhelpful or less than we needed. They should be really proud of that. The Chefs are excellent and food was great we are real foodies and I have a lactose allergy so can be picky or ask for an alteration to the proposed menu they were very accommodating. Room was great could do with a small stool by the mirror to sit and do hair makeup no biggy but worth mentioning. There was no card to say don’t change the sheets everyday we don’t need it changing once a week is fine for us we let the maid know but I’m sure they were changed it makes more work and laundry for no reason. There is no real place to put empty suitcases we did manage but it made room look a bit cluttered. The plunge pool is looking a little yellow in places it could do with some attention there. They need to buy a fogger of their own so that when the mosquitoes are bad can fog more frequently. once a week was not enough, whilst we were there some people were being eaten alive! We were lucky. One final note you could do with one area possibly reception that is enclosed with Air conditioning not being able to confirm a late checkout until 1 day prior was a bit of an issue for us as during the day we need to cool down and the pool had little shade so I would fry being a ginger. But checkout at 12 and a 6.30 pick up is a long time with no ability to cool we choose to get picked up at 2 and go around the island in an air conditioned car this was cheaper than the late checkout but we would have done the late checkout if it was more certainty that we could do it.
We did the flower bath, the island picnic and the pool tapas all were great experiences.

Stayed here 3 years ago and it was perfect sadly things have gone down hill since then. Housekeeping was brilliant, cleaned room perfectly, but the room was somewhat worn out and pool cushion and plunge pool in the room were worse for wear. Our room smoke alarm battery ran out at late at night so we had to remove the battery to get some sleep, reported the problem to reception who assured us that maintenance would fix this which they never did. We also noticed that our sink was leaking after this but decided not to report as couldn’t face the hassle of it getting/not getting fixed. The food was excellent but service very poor at times some meal times we waited over an hour for food and it was not unusual to get the starter after the main course or someone else’s food or drinks. Sadly the hotel has started taking large group bookings and this seriously impacted our experience as staff couldn’t cope with large groups in the restaurants and these groups tended to take over the pool pretty much making it unusable for anyone else when they were in residence. They also now seem keen to get as much cash out of you as possible with bottles of water on the dinner tables with price tags attached, which really cheapens the experience. There is a problem with birds in the restaurant (I quite like seeing them) however they do not seem to clean up the faeces from them which means twice I had this on my clothing from sitting on a chair which had not been cleaned and if your table was near the edge you would have bird faeces on your table and the surrounding rail which was very unsavoury. Overall we had a lovely holiday but the hotel has seriously dropped it’s high standards since our last visit, whilst the staff did their best to be welcoming they were clearly not happy and often this shined through.

Hello Fhannahh, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with us. We're truly sorry to hear that your recent stay did not meet the high standards you experienced during your previous visit, and we appreciate your honesty. We’re glad that the housekeeping team took good care of your room, but we do regret that certain aspects were not up to your expectation. It’s also disappointing to hear about the unresolved issues, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the lack of follow-up. Your comfort is important to us, and this certainly should have been addressed promptly. We understand how frustrating it must have been to experience delays and mix-ups with your meals. We aim to provide excellent service at all times, but it’s clear we missed the mark. Your feedback regarding this will help us to make improvements in these areas, as we want all guests to feel comfortable and well-cared for. As for the bottled water situation, we apologize if this came across in a negative way. We strive to balance offering a high-quality dining experience while also ensuring transparency with our pricing, but we take your comments seriously and will review how this is handled. We’re genuinely sorry that your recent experience didn’t reflect the excellence you remembered from your last stay. While we’re happy you still had a lovely holiday, we recognize the need for improvement and will work hard to regain the high standards you expect and deserve. Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback, and we hope there may be an opportunity to welcome you back and offer a much better experience. Regards, Gina C

Located on the other side of the island, away from the major resorts, this hotel feels very secluded which is perfect for a couples holiday. We stayed for about a week and loved it. The cocktails were great at both the beach bar and the main restaurant/bar, and note that you can ask the staff to make drinks at aren't on the daily menu. Food is superb, especially the Wednesday BBQ! We loved having a private pool. We had a garden room and the temperature was absolutely fine most of the time. The room was regularly cleaned, and the interiors were great! From our room we could look out and spot mongoose, birds, butterflies and lizards! We would often take a cocktail to our room around sunset and watch the many fireflies which was wonderful.

I would recommend taking the kayaks out - we did this three or four times and were often the only ones out on the bay. We could see pelicans hunting for fish and many turtles popping their heads up out of the water! I would also recommend taking the trip to Green Island. We had the island to ourselves for a while until a large boat from Sandals resort arrived and scared away the turtles so try to time it for when they are not there.

The beach that is part of the hotel isn't great for swimming but its fine for sunbathing and the bar is lovely. I would also recommend hiring a car for a few days if you can as there are lots of nice beaches nearby and hiring a taxi is very expensive.

Overall, a great trip and we would recommend this to anyone.
