In a wonderful landscape were you are almost alone, this is a lovely place to be. Very comfortable suits, with a wonderful view. Many things to do with in just a few minutes walk or drive. Excellent restaurant although boring after more than 2-3 times. (Only tasting menu is available..). Wonderful treatments by Tomas. Having this said I must add...

A set menu with delicious food although a little pretentious in the way the small portions are served. I could have done without the course entitled "bread and dripping" even if it was Wagyu dripping. Having said that, everything was very well executed and it is certainly fine dining. Service was impeccable.

This was our fourth visit to the restaurant for lunch and probably the best ever. The menu was simple, but every course was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Service was exemplary by a young waiter from France. It's just over a 2 1/2 hour drive for us, but more than worth it. The final "surpris" in the kitchen was a...

We stayed here for just one night and had a fabulous time. The hotel is in a beautiful, peaceful location. The grounds are stunning and just a short walk through them took us to the RSPB reserve. The room was lovely - a comfortable bed and a gorgeous en-suite. We sat at the chef's table for dinner. The tasting menu...

We stayed at Ynyshir Hall for one night, a surprise birthday treat from our son. We found that we were the only guests at the hotel, possibly because it was midweek and during a quiet period between Mothers Day and Easter, but the staff were so friendly and made us so welcome, it wasn't at all awkward - and it...

A romantic weekend (away from the children) planned for my wife's birthday. You are inevitably somewhat apprehensive (having spent so many hours putting the required logistics in place) that you choose the right destination to stay and eat. Although the weather was perhaps approaching the worst on record for our weekend, combining floods and road closures, our stay at Ynyshir...

We took friends over for lunch and had another fabulous meal. The setting is lovely (even through the rain) and the food and obvious passion of the chef is totally amazing. The service is unobtrusive but professional and it was the extra attention to detail that made the real difference - they realised we had been several times before so changed...

Michelin starred head chef Gareth Ward is a very creative chef. We had an amazing experience - the food is delicious and the staff are friendly and enthusiastic about their food. When choosing the menu on the first night chef offered to substitute a dish I did not want and all dietary problems can be catered for - He really...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ynyshir is a five star restaurant with rooms near the Snowdonia National Park, Aberystwyth and Machynlleth. The Michelin Star restaurant at Ynyshir is one of Wales' best contemporary fine dining destinations and holds four AA rosettes - one of only two restaurants in Wales to hold this distinction. Michelin Star chef Gareth Ward serves alternative British tasting menus using the very best of Welsh and British produce. The menus showcase the best of Welsh ingredients following the seasons, such as Welsh Wagyu Beef and Anglesey Onions throughout the year, as well as locally foraged sea herbs from the estuary and greens from the woodland floor and Ynyshir's extensive gardens. During hunting season expect to see wild deer and local duck, grouse and partridge, and in summer Welsh Lamb from the Dyfi valley. Gareth and his team pickle, salt, ferment and preserve fruits, leaves and berries carrying the harvests through the winter and into the spring. Expect to see dishes such as 'Not French Onion Soup', 'Mackerel Sweet & Sour' and Gareths take on a Tiramisu all served alongside a carefully selected wine-list whilst overlooking the Cambrian mountains and Ynyshir's extensive gardens Ynyshir has a total of ten luxuriously furnished guest rooms, each with its own unique style and character. There are seven rooms within the main house and three deluxe rooms directly adjacent. Each guest room has an en-suite with a separate bath and shower and feature premium Temple Spa products. Most rooms offer views over the gardens and Cambrian Mountains. ... more   less
