On arrival, we paid to upgrade to a poolside room with access, which was a relative modest cost. This wasn’t available booking with TUI, however after a long journey we arrived in a spacious comfortable room.
Dining options were very reasonable for all inclusive and you could purchase non AI food and drink at a modest price. We were never disappointed with the food available and this we enjoyed. We dined out a number of times just to get out and stretch our legs and a different bit of scenery. Pams in Khao Lak was great, booked our reservation and transport through messenger and did a cooking class there which was great. The pizzas were really fab, as were the steaks etc in the grill.
My only mild disappointment was the erratic timings for your daily room service. The maids could come anytime up to 6.30 in the evening. Not good if you are planning dinner and getting ready to go out. So you can call room service and request your room is done by a certain time which it is. No biggie, perhaps there are not enough cleaning staff employed to service rooms.
So many nice staff to mention. Waan, Joe at the beach bat, were great. William and Jinja at the grill were great. Money, arm, ninja and many more. They are lovely gentle, polite and caring people.
Thank you all at Le Meridien, or Kap Khoon Khap 🙏🏻😀
What we loved about Le Meridian were the pools and the immaculate gardens. The bathroom is absolutely stunning and the rooms bright, modern and comfortable. The bed has to be one of the most comfortable we slept in. The bar next to the main reception is stunning and the sunsets absolutely magnificent. Our swim up room was really nice. However, they gave us a room near the Breakfast restaurant that had no direct sunlight in any part of the day. We definitely preferred our swim up room at The Haven Khao Lak (Adults only) and everything else there. Also, Le Meridian has a lot of children and noisy Eastern Europeans. We booked Le Meridian as it is in BangSak beach and is one of Khao Lak's 25km of glorious beaches, not overcrowded and largely undeveloped. However, we did not like the beach at the Hotel. The beach chairs are very close to one another, they build a massive concrete wall that is simply an eye sore. The Khuk Khak long beach where The Haven and the newly built Devasom is located is nicer and the water clearer than Bangsak beach.
The breakfast was superb, every morning there was a great selection of Thai food, salads, eggs, stir fries, fruits, vegetables and the pastries were to die for. If you are a vegetarian or on keto you will find an amazing selection. Unfortunately, we ate at the beach grill on out first night and were not impressed. The food menu was very limited. My husband ordered a Pad Thai and it was the most tasteless we had in Thailand. My salad wasn’t good either and the chicken satay was just ok.
The cocktails we had were also a miss. We ordered a drink whose second name was Gostoso, which in Portuguese means delicious. It tasted horrible and smelt of desinfectant. We order a Mai Tai and a Pina Colada at the beach bar and those have to be the worst drinks we ever had in any of our travels. If the Hotel has a beverage manager he should be sacked. Apparently the drinks are not fresh and not mixed but poured from a gallon container!!!! For the remaining of our stay we ate and drank at the beach restaurant past the Hotel and dinned at the Pink restaurant in front of the Hotel (both places offered delicious food and amazing cocktails at cheaper prices than the Hotel).
Would we go back?. No! But we’d certainly go back to the Haven Khao Lak
The hotel is large and modern with the 3 pools being the focal point. The guest rooms are built around the pools and I would think all rooms have a pool view. One of the pools is in the shade all day as are the rooms overlooking it. Our favourite pool was the one with the swim up bar, particularly at happy hour!
The hotel is on a beautiful, long sandy beach. There is a lot of sharp broken coral on the beach and in the sea, so protective beach shoes are useful. Just be aware that the sea is not clear and there is a problem with little jellyfish which do sting but are harmless.
There were always plenty of clean beach towels available but sun beds were a problem and unless we went early, they had usually been taken.
We weren’t all inclusive so the only meals we had were the more than adequate buffet breakfasts. There was plenty of choice from the fresh egg station to the lovely cold pressed fresh juices. The service could be improved- we struggled every morning to get served with coffee. We ate pizza one evening, which was excellent.
There are a few good local restaurants nearby or you can go into Khao Lak for a huge choice of eateries and bars. The hotel runs a complementary bus service into town at certain times of the day but be certain to book as they fill up quickly.
Our rooms were excellent. Large, bright, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The air conditioning worked well and the fridge and tea and coffee making facilities were welcome. The bathroom was well equipped and modern.
The thing that really stood out at this hotel was the staff. They were so friendly and eager to please and they went out of their way to make our stay a good one.
All in all this is a lovely, relaxing hotel and we have lots of happy memories of a wonderful holiday.
Firstly when comparing to other hotels I was a little sceptical due to the fact that the hotel was quite far out from the main centre of Khao Lak little did I know that this place was going to be the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at and trust me we’ve stayed at a lot of places.
Imagine having your Own little paradise, surrounded by smiles each morning you wake and food served to you that even the most fussiest eaters would be happy with, Le Meridian is simple that.
The hotel it’s self shows as a 4* + but in my opinion if I could rate it a 6 I could! It’s beautiful inside and out the Rooms are spacious well kept and beautifully presented and the pool/beach and surrounding areas are so very well maintained.
The staff treat you like royalty knowing your name and room number off the top of their heads within a day of your arrival. We chose the all inclusive option and we are so happy we did. No silly wrist bands needed the staff just knew that a dining package was attached to our booking.
I am so fussy when it comes to food but quite honestly there’s something for everyone here, pizzas, burgers, chicken, local cuisine not to mention the alcoholic drinks served here are all premium brands.
The staff as mentioned before are outstanding, this was our 3rd visit to Thailand and I must say that the staff at Le Meridian really shine above the rest of the hotels we’ve stayed at. Nothing was ever too much bother for them and from sunrise to night they did all they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible - Thank you so much!!! I’d like to highlight both Tommy in the restaurant and Peachy at the front desk were simply fantastic.
This Holiday was simply the best memories were made and smiles were created every day! Thank you once again Le Meridian, what a fantastic hotel you are.
The beach:
This has nothing to do with the stars, but please be aware that the water is not clear. You do not see the stones and grass when walking in, which is quite unpleasant. There are also quite a few jellyfish, which are also not seen and which are quite hurtful.
Food:
This is probably the worst thing. Be aware that you will wait minimum 40 min for your food, no matter if the restaurant is full or you are there alone. Be ready to get not what you have ordered and then wait another 40 min for your order to be changed. The quality of the food is really average, often tasteless. The lunch has always been a challenge for us, as you need to spend min 1.5 on it, which is quite a pity. The dinner is not much better, as even if you go to the Nest, which is the buffet, you will usually finish your food much quicker that you get your wine or other drinks.
Service:
People are really friendly, but most of them speak very basic English, even at the reception, which makes the communication very hard.
Cleanliness:
It is not very well looked after. You never know when you find the dirty toilet, or the toilet out of soap, or the toilet paper. Many places are dirty, the rooms cleaned very poorly, no matter if you leave the tips or not. The beds are made, the towels are changed. The shampoos are not added, the floors are not washed.
To sum it up: it really does have the 5 star appearance. It is new and well designed. But if it is managed like this, even the appearance will go away. The food and service are worth 3 stars max. The hotel really needs better management.
There was a lot of people waiting to be checked in and the front desk was a bit understaffed when we arrived late at night, but the staff who checked us in (Tony as Front Desk) was amazing. The check in process was quick and we were upgraded to a bigger room with less walking distance to the lobby. Even though there was lot of guests to be checked in he ensured that all our questions were answered and provided all the details and then walked all the way to show our room. As we had a very early morning checkout, we settled our bill the night before and again he did a great job in sorting our bill and also ordered us the breakfast boxes for the road next morning.
The rooms were large and modern and very clean. The bathroom was large, well lit and large bath tub with rain shower. The pools on the property were great and the beach front offers great sunsets in the evening.
We had dinner every night at the on-site restaurants. Again, the staff was amazing. We asked if one of us could select the buffet and the other could order from a different restaurant on the property. Tommy at the restaurant made it possible and quickly attended to all our specific dietary requirements. With so many guests it was a surprise that she remembered us the next day and quickly helped us with the menu the next day.
Only comment I would make is on the quality of the food. We tried the Thai buffet as well as the Italian Pizza restaurant. The quality and taste of the food not really up to the usual Marriott quality. The pizza and pasta in the Italian restaurant really lacked taste. The bread served in the Pizzeria was pretty ordinary and it was served with a dipping sauce that tasted like pasta sauce. Maybe it was the lack of staff due to COVID-19 situation.
Despite the lack of quality of the food has an overall great stay and it’s a special staff like Tommy at the restaurant and Tony at the front desk that made it a great stay.
The location is very close to Khao Sok National Park which makes it a very attractive Marriott property to stay at if you want luxury accommodation and would like to visit the National Park at the same time.
It was my nephew’s birthday and the hotel very kindly offered a custom made cake of his preference on last minute request. We ended up having a beautiful celebration here. Food prices here are so reasonable and they have a nice variety that we never felt the need to eat out.
Thank you so much for making our holiday such a beautiful one - I would definitely recommend and come back to Le Meridien Khao Lak again.
With a choice of 3 restaurants we were spoilt for choice where to eat each day. Our favourite was the Beach Grill which faced the sea so wherever you sat there was a beautiful view. The food was really good and varied with everything from Thai curries to Sunday roasts. Staff go out of their way to make your stay memorable. There is a courtesy bus which runs throughout each day to Bang Niang market then on to Khao Lak centre, journey takes about 30 mins.
There are a number of bars along the beach if you fancy a change of scenery. Also on the beach are several massage beds. We tried a couple and our favourite was Sue"s Massage (turn left as you enter the beach). Sue is so welcoming and ends each session with fruit and water. She's further down the beach than some of the others but worth walking the extra 100 yds.
A great holiday and somewhere i can see us returning.
We were offered an upgrade at check in to a pool access room and this was really worth the extra $15 a night. Being able to jump into the pool from your room was perfect and we really enjoyed it.
The breakfast was great and had plenty of variety, including Thai Milk Tea, which is to die for and German bretzels (which I love).
The only setback was that there were no smoking areas in the hotel restaurants, as we like to sit back after dinner and enjoy a nice cigar
