We have travelled to many places and this was BY FAR the WORST place we have ever stayed. Don’t be fooled by the pictures on the internet. The first thing we noticed when we opened the door was an offensive odour which we (eventually) thought might be coming up from the shower drain (or maybe the large hole under the bathroom sink?). My husband came very close to being scalded while he was showering when the cold water completely shut off. There is no A/C (there is a fan which was our only saving grace from keeping the unexplained odour at bay), no ice (we were told to go to the local Gas Station and buy a bag), no hair dryer, no tissue, extra towels or toilet paper (only the partial one on the roll). The window frames are suffering from dry rot, the tops of the sheets are frayed (they have to be really old to be that frayed) and there was a thick layer of dust on the top of the toilet paper holder and roll. Unfortunately we booked 2 nights there and in the middle of the night while getting up to go to the bathroom, we got our feet wet.....a good part of the floor around the sink and toilet was wet. Last, but not least, there was a small area of tile on the bathroom floor that had obviously lifted and it was held down with scotch tape. We did see Janet on one of the days we were there and told her of some of the issues (in particular the scalding of the shower) and the only response we got was “Oh, I’m sorry”. We sent an email after our stay to let them know how unhappy we were but up until now, we have not had the courtesy of a reply.…
The place is okay,no airconditon, but it is clean, along the Hi way,15 minutes drive to Lions head and Grotto, then 30 minutes drive to Tobermory.close access to the sorrounding beach, clean, although it is along the hi way it is quite at night.
My daughter and I stayed for two nights. The room was small but comfortable and clean. I wouldn’t have expected anything more at this very reasonable price. The lack of air conditioning was not a problem. It might’ve been in a heat wave. One thing to note: Janet, who owns the place with her husband, was kind enough to spend 15 minutes with us giving her very best advice, along with precise and accurate directions that could only come from a long time local, on what to do in the area. This was immensely helpful, and she did it without any prompting. It was because of her that we had a gorgeous hike on the Bruce Trail nearby and found out about the dinner cruise on the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry. This was a very memorable father-daughter experience.
I booked this place Labour Day weekend and everywhere was full. Overall it was decent. It was clean and the host was very nice and hospitable. She even gave us some pointers of place to visit in case the Grotto was full. The room was a little musty but we opened the window and aired it out a little. The bed was comfortable. Although this place was very basic, it's still not to far from Tobermory and Bruce Penninsula National Park.
Musty, smells, 1/2 the stuff broken, 30yo tv , avoid if you can, only reason anyone goes here is bc all the rest of the places have no vacancy (this place thro long weekend had, Very expensive for what you get (even 30 bucks would be too much for this place, and we paid 300$ for 2 nights!)
