Snuck into jacuzzi before COVID. A bazillion frogs. Love the lobby and setting. VERY VERY exotic. Got towels for jacuzzi. If I was a billionaire; I would still try to sneak in for free.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay for Spring Break. Safety was my number one priority since it was just the two of us traveling; I never felt uneasy or unsafe. Pros: not crowded, great pool area, lovely landscaping. The hotel staff was beyond amazing; Michele at the concierge desk went above and beyond to make our trip a breeze by booking all the transportation and activities! Cons: It is an hour away from the airport; however the drive is beautiful. The coffee is not the best and $12 lattes to boot (I am a coffee snob so if you are, too- be prepared). The pool service could have been better. Some days I had to flag someone down to take my order versus being approached. Tips: there are water bottle fill stations throughout the property so bring a water bottle. As expected, the food is expensive- review the menus before going so you are prepared for the prices. There is a small store within walking distance for snacks and such. The rooms were nice; I would not align it with other Ritz Carlton properties so I’m giving it 4 stars. The decor was a bit worn and not hitting the mark of five star details.

Response from General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at The Ritz-Carlton Maui Kapalua
Responded 2 weeks ago
Aloha C3591GFmeganm, Mahalo for your loyalty to our brand and for taking the time to evaluate your stay with us at The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua. We are pleased to read you and your daughter had a pleasant time at our pool and that you loved our inspiring surroundings and accommodations, as well as our elevated hospitality. It will be a pleasure to relay your kind remarks to our Ladies and Gentlemen, especially Michele. Having said that, we are sorry for not meeting some of your expectations. Maui is known for its unique geographical location, which can impact the availability and cost of certain goods and services. As a result, prices for food and beverages in the area can be higher compared to other destinations. However, we continually strive to offer a range of dining options that cater to various budgets. Your comments will be shared appropriately, and we appreciate your valuable input, as it can help us explore potential areas for improvement. We are also grateful to you for sharing your thoughts about the coffee we serve, as we are always looking for ways to enhance our guest services. We have also taken note of your additional feedback and will convey it to the appropriate individuals for any future revitalization plans. We hope to see you and your daughter again soon. It is a nice hotel but it is the crappiest Ritz I have ever been to. Our family would have been better off doing all inclusive in the Caribbean. The food selection is extremely weak. Things are sort of rundown too. I can’t tell if this was originally a different hotel but it is definitely dated looking and needs a refresh. The beach is lame too. No one even hangs out down there. They just dumped a pile of sand in the ocean at the bottom of the property.

Our family of four (40s/16/12) visited the Ritz Kapalua for spring break. All staff that we interacted with from check-in to check-out were friendly and helpful. The hotel was close to capacity but it never felt crowded. The resort grounds are large but it never seemed cumbersome to walk anywhere. Room to pool is 2-4 minutes no matter where you're located. The beach was a 3-5 minute walk from the pool, which isn't ideal, but it wasn't bothersome and there's a golf cart shuttle that can take you back and forth if you'd like. The resort is also connected to the coastal walking trail which is very beautiful. We had a basic room with partial ocean view and it was better than expected. It had a good sized balcony and bathroom. We never felt cramped. I'll get this out of the way: everything is very expensive. It's a Ritz - it's expected with the name. Beers are $10, mixed drinks are $20+. Meals are costly but you can view the menus beforehand to see what you're in for. It is what it is. The dining options aren't the best since we have a picky eater in our group so we ate most meals off property. We had the breakfast buffet at Ulana once and it was very good. My wife and I had drinks and appetizers at the Banyan Tree, which was tasty. We ordered a few things poolside throughout the week and the food is what you'd expect. We attended the Takes of the Kapa Moe luau and had a great time. The food was delicious and the show was entertaining but I thought it was going to be "bigger". We weren't disappointed at all though. If it's in your budget, splurge for the VIP tickets so that you can sit closer to the stage. It makes a difference. The mandatory valet parking was somewhat annoying and felt cash-grabby. It seems unnecessary since the lot is right by the lobby circle but the valets were fast and friendly - not a huge deal. There's a market/deli next door that's a short walk and is a really good option for breakfast or to grab sandwiches to take on the road if you're going exploring for the day. They also have a good selection of beer and wine. We wouldn't hesitate to come back!

Second stay and it was great again. Kapalua is by far our favorite area on Maui. Front desk MaryLou upon check in and the lei greeter that starts with a letter Z, sorry forgot how to spell it, were very welcoming and kind. Room was beautiful with an awesome view of the pools and ocean. Enjoyed the coffee in the room and the bathroom has all the amenities you can think of. Room just needs a little microwave. Oh, and we were surprised with fresh and delicious banana bread for my husband’s celebration that we were celebrating there. Thank you. We loved that the pools stay open late and even though the beach is a good walk, it is worth going down there. One of our favorite things about this property is how super close Sacred Heart church is to attend mass as well as the country market with all their goodies. Forgot to mention Michael at valet for his friendliness and want to mention Alvaro at the front desk. I hope that’s his name, I know it starts with the letter A and is from Santa Barbara. He was very kind and gracious as well. Looking forward to our next visit.

Staff were pleasant, however everything else was a disaster. Room service isn't available at 3:30 (I mean honestly wake up you're meant to be ritzy). Steam room doesn't work and has been broken for 6 month. Misleading and deceptive to show pics. AND family pool is closed for "renovation" so kids are all in the adult pool. I literally checked out the same day I checked in. Go to moana surf rider instead

Aloha Bishara H, Might you be reviewing another property, snd not ours? I am puzzled by your comments as we offer room service from 6am to 10pm, our steam room is working fine, and our pools are open and not under renovation. Our pool renovation was completed in 2020 during the pandemic. We would appreciate if you double-checked if you visited our resort. Mahalo, Mary Jane Stancil Director of Room Operations

Went to to a Luau there and it was fantastic. A three hour exsperience. Cocktails, music, dancers, memory photo shoot, great food valet parking. A bit exspensive but so worth it. We paid $249 pp. The grounds are so beautiful. Everything you would exspect from the Ritz, first class all the way and +$50 more than other down the road in Lahina.

The experience isn't what it used to be. Today at the Burger shack we waited an hour only to be told the manager was missing and we couldn't order food as it was too close to closing. I guess it is hard to find help in Maui now. Prices need to come down to reflect the service.

Review of our 5-night babymoon at the Ritz Carlton in Maui: Indulging in the luxury of the Ritz Carlton Maui was an experience. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, greeted with white lays and refreshing juice cocktails, we knew we were in for an extraordinary stay. PROS: - The lobby exudes opulence, with its breathtaking ocean views, setting the tone for a truly luxurious getaway. - As a gold member, we were pleasantly surprised to receive an upgrade to a partial ocean view room without even requesting it (I booked a standard garden room). The room's location was perfect, offering both ocean and pool views. - There are plenty of dining options on the property. We had excellent meals locally at establishments like Merriman’s (offers amazing views/setting, food was ok), Plantation House (Our favorite!), Taverna, and Sensei Sushi. Even casual bites at the Burger Shack (on property) and poolside were a delight. - The hotel's shuttle service to Kapalua's restaurants was a convenient discovery. We rented a car and probably would have opted out of renting car if we knew about this perk (Valet is $50 a day). However, it was nice having a car to take us to Mama’s Fish House and we stayed in Wailea a few nights. - A highlight of our stay was spotting a majestic turtle basking on the hotel's beach, adding a touch of enchantment to our daily strolls. - Exploring the scenic oceanfront path around Kapalua was a rejuvenating experience, with Sea Horse offering a picturesque breakfast spot. We did go to Gazebo (very popular) and waited 45 min. Sea Horse was recommended by an employee at the Bay Course pro shop. - The state-of-the-art gym facilities and diverse fitness classes provided ample opportunities to stay active and refreshed. - The spa was a haven of tranquility, where I indulged in a prenatal massage. My husband was able to enjoy post-golf relaxation in the steam room, hot tub, and sauna since I wasn’t able to use much of the amenities. - My husband golfed at Bay Course which had breathtaking ocean views along the back 9 (Holes 16 and 17). He did mention the greens were a bit slow, but overall had a wonderful experience. He paid $271 (with Ritz discount) which is what you would expect playing at a similar nice course. - Throughout our stay, the entire Ritz staff was attentive and friendly. One staff member in particular, Margie, ensured that every aspect of our experience was nothing short of perfection. She reconvened tons of great restaurants and also works at the Plantation House. - Next to the Ritz is a well-stocked grocery store offering a plethora of options for stocking up on essentials. You can also get breakfast and lunch. Banana bread was delicious! - Our accommodations were comfortable and meticulously maintained each day providing a serene sanctuary for restful nights and leisurely mornings. -We were thrilled to be able to utilize Marriott points (280K) which we thought was a great deal. If I was spending $1400+ a night, I would probably explore other options. Everyone we talked to at the pool mentioned they used points for their stay. CONS: - While our room was comfortable, a slight update to the decor and bathrooms would elevate the overall experience. - The lack of cushioned pool chairs was a minor inconvenience, considering the hotel's five-star status. - Although the pool boasted stunning views, its aesthetic could benefit from a modern refresh. - The weather, while generally pleasant during our stay, exhibited occasional unpredictability with intermittent bouts of wind and clouds. OTHER: - While the hotel offers a lounge package ($300 daily, regularly $600) we opted to explore beyond the resort, finding greater value in experiencing local restaurants. Overall, our babymoon at the Ritz Carlton Maui exceeded expectations, leaving us eagerly anticipating a return visit and to use Marriott points again. As for Lahaina, while the rebuilding efforts continue, our trip remained unaffected and Maui needs the support of tourists!

Great property - very walkable variety of eating options on the property, fantastic rooms and great pools. We stayed a week and enjoyed the peace and quiet of this resort. The resort in a more remote area of the island and so the availability of a number of eating locales is very convenient. The service is impeccable (as you would expect) and the staff are able to source just about any guest request imaginable !
