The Longlands Inn & Restaurant garners praise for its comfortable and clean rooms, though a few guests find them on the snug or dated side. While the staff's professionalism and warmth often leave a positive impression, there have been occasional mentions of service lapses. With its inviting atmosphere and convenient location near the South Lakes, the hotel stands out as a well-positioned retreat. Cleanliness is a point of pride, and while the value is generally appreciated, some guests feel certain aspects do not justify the expense. Amenities are well-regarded, including the excellent culinary offerings and pet-friendly policy.

Stayed here two nights on a travel Zoo deal as it had dog friendly rooms which was an understatement, dog beds, water bowls, blankets and even dog treats were provided in the room. The room was nice and warm when we arrived with a bottle of wine in an ice bucket waiting for us so we were all happy, there was also tea and coffee making facilities also bottled water and biscuits. The bathroom was clean and modern with a shower and all soap, shampoo, shower gel and hand cream were provided.
We ate in the bar as we had the dog with us but it’s the same menu as the restaurant, we had flat bread pizzas with sweet potato fries and a side salad which was lovely. They had three or four real ales on of which I tried the Black Sheep which was a nice pint.
If you’re looking for a place to stay in this area I can honestly recommend The Longlands, all the staff are very friendly and helpful recommending two nice three mile walks straight from the Hotel, we had a nice weekend away and so did the dog.

My wife and myself had a two night stay at Longlands on the 10th and 11th of February. We paid an extra £20 to stay in one of their “Lapwing” rooms which we understood to be more modern and better equipped than the standard rooms in the older part of the building. The room was very well presented, with flat screen smart tv and complimentary tea and coffee. The shower room was clean and modern with a good range of soap, shampoo etc. As part of our deal we had a bottle of Prosecco waiting for us in an ice bucket. On both evenings we ate in the restaurant and all four meals were delicious, piping hot and much more than “pub” meals. Cooked breakfasts were prepared to order so came hot and included all the usual choice.

Room Tip: It’s probably worth paying the extra for a Lapwing room, although I didn’t see the Standard rooms.

Having missed out on several previously booked UK breaks we saw this as a good opportunity to get away. We were not disappointed! The rooms were spotless,a full range of protective measures was in place and throughout our stay we felt totally reassured for our safety. Once we took over the room staff didn't enter and all routes through the hotel were clear. The meals were very good and all staff were excellent.
We had never really considered this part of Lancs. for a holiday but a 3 day visit has convinced us that we should return and Longlands would be a perfect base. We would happily recommend it.

My Wife and I, have been wanting to visit this location for quite sometime as we had often seen it from the M6 motorway and wondered what it was like.
Therefore we stopped off one evening to sample the restaurant and we enjoyed what we had a meal of surf & turf. However for the price the portions were a bit small and it was lacking something to enhance the plate i.e a Tomato, Mushrooms, Onion Rings maybe.
Nevertheless the service was very good and we intend to visit again to sample something else from the menu.

A lovely hotel and restaurant that is very well managed with competent and attentive staff who look after you.

We stayed in a king deluxe room, the room was spotlessly clean and this is present throughout the hotel.
The bathroom had a rainfall shower with good water pressure with beautiful white fluffy towels, there was shampoo, conditioner and hand wash.
The bed was really comfortable and even though it is near a main road we couldn’t hear any traffic noise.
The room has a smart tv with tea and coffee making facilities.

The property have covid-19 safe practices and this was well demonstrated throughout the hotel with masks, one way systems, social distancing measures and hand sanitising stations.

The restaurant serves a good variety of tasty food and again staff were always attentive. The breakfast were tasty and filling that set you up for the day.

Would most definitely return and a thank you to the Longlands Inn Manager and his team for an excellent stay.

This has to be one of the best places we have stayed in. From the welcome to the departure everything was brilliant. The boss was telling us that the whole place had been refurbished to the highest standard and he was not exaggerating. Our room was an upgrade and was absolutely beautiful. The bed was really comfortable, the bathroom was to die for and had a great selection of toiletries in proper large bottles. Couldn't fault any of it. We had booked a 2nt stay on b/b so we had our evening meal in the restaurant. Again the decor and atmosphere was great, they had a well dressed manager. The service was great as was the food. I had informed them of my shell fish allergy and they answered all my questions regarding any fish on the menu. Bit early in the season for entertainment but there was a quiz on the Mon night and it was a scream. We visited Carnforth station where they filmed Brief Encounter, well worth the visit, and RSPB Leighton Moss. No far to Lake Windermere either. We asked to see the self contained cottages before we left and once again amazing, visit there website. We will definately be going again.

So, there isn’t much to look forward to at the moment whilst we are in lockdown so we decided to order the Friday night take away fish and chips so that we had something to eagerly await at the end of the week. Our expectations were high and the food certainly did not disappoint. Served in recyclable cardboard boxes 12” long, the fish only just fitted inside! The fish was beautifully cooked, after breaking through the crisp batter, delicious soft white flesh flaked easily under the fork. A good amount of chips were hidden underneath the fish and it’s safe to say we were suitably stuffed by the time we had finished it. At £7.50 per portion with a small additional charge for peas, curry sauce and gravy, this meal is excellent value for money and helps to support local businesses during these difficult times.

Many thanks to all the staff at The Longlands Inn and Restaurant for a fabulous weekend stay with you.

Everything about the hotel was superb, from the plentiful free on-site parking to the fast but friendly check-in and the superbly comfortable rooms in the Lapwing 'wing'.

After a long trip down from Scotland I was delighted to find my room had a wonderfully comfortable double bed, TV, fridge and plentiful complimentary amenities including tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water, all of which were most welcome.

The free Wi-Fi was fast and easy to connect to as well and the bathroom was modern and well appointed with piping hot water and good quality complimentary toiletries.

Special mention must go to the Manager who greeted me at breakfast on Saturday morning and made me feel very welcome.

He kindly arranged free of charge for my thermos to be filled with fresh piping hot coffee ready for my day's events in the countryside.

The breakfast menu was comprehensive with fresh fruit juices, tea and coffee, cereals, toast and of course a delicious full English with wonderfully cooked fresh eggs, succulent bacon and hearty sausages all served by charming and friendly staff who also deserve a special mention.

I'm due back in the area in a few weeks and will definitely be booking with them again.

Overall I rate this venue as being superb value for money, with fabulous rooms, delicious food and warm welcoming staff who could not do more for their guests.

What more could a guest want. Highly recommended!

My friend and I visited Longlands last night after COVID-19. We were welcomed by a member of staff (Rob) always a pleasure to see him! We were taken to our table and then asked if we would like to order food and drink via their new website link (this is optional) I agreed and Rob gave me
Instructions. Very easy to use and it is very quick and effective.

One way system, hand sanitizers all around the building, Perspex around the bar area!

I absolutely loved it and I booked a table for the coming Wednesday as I felt so safe and all rules were followed!

Great Job guys and thank you for such amazing food!

We stopped off overnight on way down south and we were really pleased with the standard of this hotel. It wasn’t fully open due to Covid restrictions only to essential travellers and we were grateful that it was. Room was large and bed super comfy. Service could not be faulted. Staff very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, due to weather, although we had dinner booked in the marquee in the garden, it looked pretty uncomfortable/cold so we were offered dinner in our room which we did. Food was lovely and god value for money just a little bit more difficult to eat in the room due to table space. Overall, great place and would absolutely recommend!

Do you have Sky sports in the bar and do you do bar food Sunday afternoons?
Answer from William E
17 contributions
They do have sky sports football on the tv when we have stayed but if it’s on during a Sunday afternoon I would guess it would depend if there is live football on. They have a new coffee shop open which sells a variety of hot and cold food. If the football is important to you call them and I’m sure they will help.
