Stayed In the Glenavon with my family (two adults/ three children) and this hotel must rate as one of the best places we have had the pleasure to stay in. Every member of staff was friendly and professional from the cleaners right through to management. We sampled an evening meal, breakfast and lunch during our stay and found the service to be of a very high standard on each occasion with a wide variety of choice on the menu and food that didn’t disappoint!
I would recommend to visit even if not staying for lunch/dinner.
The facilities are great, we used the swimming pool during our visit which was very clean and the staff were more than helpful with swimming aids for our 3 yr old son. The hotel has a gym and due to time constraints we were not able to take any classes. My son asked the gym instructor (Marty) for training advice and he couldn’t not do any more to help.. in fact he went above and beyond to help my son.
During this unprecedented time we live in staying in hotels can seem daunting ,all I can say the staff do everything to ensure cleanliness is of the highest standard.. upon arrival we witnessed two members of staff cleaning on the short distance to our room and the room itself was spotless.
This hotel cannot be faulted in any way and I have no doubt that any issues would be dealt swiftly with the management, looking forward to returning here with the family.

Dear Glenavon House Hotel staff,

We just wanted to thank you all for a fantastic bank holiday trip to the hotel this weekend.
We have stayed at the Hotel many times over the past few years and the staff have always been extremely friendly and accommodating and this time we really felt well looked after!

We stayed in one of the excellent family rooms which have recently been refurbished and the size of the room was really great for us to have all the space we needed. The new decor in the room has really updated it and made it feel very stylish and modern.

Access to the pool area was fantastic for the kids and even with the Covid measures in place, it was organised by the staff very efficiently and in a very safe way.

Dinner in the Cellar bar was a real treat again and everyone really enjoyed their meal and the superb service we enjoyed.

Well done Glenavon, you made our end of Summer mini holiday really special before everyone is back to some normality.

See you soon,
The Malones

I visited The Court nightclub on Monday night and couldn’t believe the amazing bar service from staff there including the barman Caoimbhin who offered me brilliant drink choices. All bar staff were unbelievably friendly and I actually asked for their names to write a review of them. Anna, Danny and Roisin were super friendly and offered to collect a large amount of empty glasses from a table so we could sit and watch the band and showed me where the toilets were. The music by more power to your elbow was fantastic and, although it’s not my usual music genre, I would be more than willing to attend a gig similar to this again if it was hosted by the Glenavon. I only visited the upstairs bar during my night because of the speedy service I received on my initial visit and I can assure you that the bar staff know what they’re doing. I asked for a vodka and white and was charmed by the barman to try a double vodka with lemonade and lime cordial and it’s definitely going to be my new go-to drink. I understood that the bar staff were super busy but they were friendly enough to take the time to make time for me and address anything I needed. I have also decided to attend the restaurant at the Glenavon on Friday for dinner after I was convinced by a barman called John that this is the spot to attend. If you are considering going to any event, this event by the Glenavon hotel was brilliant and I will be back next year all being well.

Automatic doors, glossy marble tiled floors, sumptuous furniture, yes, a lovely entrance hall but what about the rest of the hotel? Speedy check in, now to find our room. Across a carpeted floor, up a ramp, across a long, elevated walkway, down in the lift through double doors and into our room number 306.

The room was not very bright with only one window looking out onto an uninspiring river. I would describe it as budget sized with only one easy chair and one upright chair, not ideal for me, I would prefer two easy chairs with a table but the room size did not allow for this due to small area. However, the hotel had found room for a rather large corner desk/dressing table which was more suited to a home office than a hotel bedroom with limited space. Hanging space was OK but without doors it was not a wardrobe, only five hangers though so bring your own. The bathroom was shiny and roomy and like the bedroom itself was very clean. Why do some hotels neglect to maintain their bathrooms to a high standard. Safety grab rail was loose, shower riser rail was loose, toilet seat was so loose that it seemed to have a mind of its own (without going into too much detail), it was however fixed, but not until three days into our four day break. The shower was an all singing and dancing variety with a small head and a larger full body head. Only the standard smaller head worked with a less than powerful flow.

A few words about the restaurant. Nicely decorated with some areas screened off and smaller rooms for larger parties, although very busy it never felt overcrowded. We ate here every evening and although all the courses which we chose were very nicely cooked, the overall presentation was somewhat lacking, menu choices were adequate and service was good.

Back to room and although drawspace was excellent the drawers, of which there were eight had no form of damper fitted. When they close they did so with a loud bang, when the occupants of adjoining rooms arose each morning at 7 o'clock so ended our slumber when they began searching their drawers for a lost item.

Finally, a question to hotel management, why do you not fit a personal safe in each room for the convenience of your guests?

Dear RobbiefromDonegal Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel following your recent stay. I was disappointed to learn of the minor maintenance issues which you outlined in your review - such as shame that they weren't brought to our attention during your stay as these minor points were easily remedied once we received your review. The housekeeper checked both shower heads and they were working perfectly but one has to switch from the hand option to the "super soaker" in order for it to engage. The receptionists in particular were surprised to learn of them as I believe they had a number of conversations about your travels offering recommendations about local tourist spots and where to buy turf craft and nothing regarding your room was mentioned. I am delighted that you found the food and service to your satisfaction although I am not sure in what way the presentation was lacking as nothing was ever mentioned during your 4 breakfasts & 4 dinners in the restaurant and the remark is rather vague for me to be able to follow up. We were very busy that week with a tour group but had you told us of your concerns about the room being too small we would certainly have tried to move you to a larger room, I know the Suites were available. I am sorry that the Ballinderry River didn't inspire you but I'm afraid that really isn't within my gift. Yours faithfully Paula Wilson

A perfectly pleasant hotel, just an hour's drive from Belfast airport. This is not a luxury hotel... or at least mine wasn't. It's a perfectly fine hotel but I wouldn't call it luxurious with necessarily - too many little niggles for that.

We didn't use the spa / pool / gym so can't comment on that... just room & restaurant.

Comfortable room with a nice bed and mix of pillows. WiFi was free and worked well. Downside was you can hear everything. Everybody walking past your door, snooring and alarms and TVs from adjacent rooms too.

Very nice bar and restaurant with very tasty food (fillet steak was amazing!) and really friendly staff.

The room was pleasant with a spacious desk / working space, good sized wardrobe and there was plenty of space to move around - not a box room! The room was sadly quite cold with no temperature control at all. The room in places felt tatty, with the bathroom in particular looking very tired and worn. The bed sheets and duvet had stains on. The TV in the room was ancient.

Nice décor around most of the hotel until you go through a door to the room corridors and then it goes down in style and quality quite quickly.

This place could be really really good, they just need to tidy up some elements and make sure the cleaning staff are checking sheets etc for marks and stains more thoroughly and replace the TVs with ones from the last 10 years!

First time staying here we went with friends for a weekend. From start to finish was an absolute pleasure. Staff made us feel so welcome. Room was amazing so clean and had very thing we needed. We booked our swimming slot at the leisure centre only the day before so we were lucky enough to get an afternoon slot. We ate in the hotel both nights food was amazing and actually for a hotel the prices were very low as well even down to the drinks they had entertainment on in the bar on a Saturday night live music which was so good. Breakfast was a very high standard. Could not fault this place at all and will definitely be back again. Thank you all so much for making our stay so memorable

Just back from an overnight stay in the hotel on the re-opening weekend and just wanted to say that Paula and the team have done an excellent job. The hotel has fully embraced the covid regulations and my wife and I felt at ease throughout the stay. We had both a Sunday carvery and an evening meal and food and service was excellent. The room was also lovely and to top it off the fry served at breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend this hotel

Glenavon is such a beautiful hotel from the grounds to the interior.
Rosalyn at reception was amazing and so accommodating from start to finish, she was friendly, very approachable and welcoming always smiling no matter how busy.
Rooms were so spacious and spotlessly clean, beds were so cozy I had the best nights sleep.
We got full use of sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pool which we followed with the most delicious strawberry daiquiri's I ever had that were made by John, who also went above and beyond with his service. The staff in the Glenavon really were amazing and I will definitely be back because of them. They really made our stay.
The 4 course dinner and breakfast we had were 5 ☆ and so was the service again at dinner and breakfast.
Thank you Glenavon for our fabulous Sunday night stay, definitely reccomend the sunday package for couples or friends having a wee pamper day.
Will 100% be back again !!!!!
Can't forget Oonagh (sorry if spelling is wrong) strawberry daiquiri for every one next time x

Hello Lynmer - yes of course all residents become temporary members of the Club and can use it during their stay at no extra cost. There are some restrictions to children's hours although these are extended during school holidays and weekends to 10 - 6pm. We also have some baby flotation rings and travel cots in the changing rooms as well as cots in the bedroom & high chairs in the restaurant so hopefully we have everything covered! Kind regards Paula

Hi Bazhef, The rooms closest to hotel reception are decorated and fitted to the same standard as those in the extension. They are however smaller rooms as they are standard doubles / twins as opposed to the larger family rooms in the extension wing. We do normally allocate these smaller rooms to guests attending a function to ensure that the guests in the extension who are not attending functions and are very often family groups, are not disturbed by late revellers returning to their rooms. To be perfectly honest there is a good possibility that there will be noise from the function rooms and / fellow wedding guests resident in the hotel. Of course on saying all of that, you can get noise anywhere in an hotel and we are by and large dependant on all guests behaviour and consideration towards their fellow residents regardless of where the room is allocated! I hope this information helps! Kind regards Paula Wilson
