This is an ideal not over priced place to meet friends for lunch. We visited in the winter but I am sure in the summer sitting by the river would be fab. We had sandwiches which were freshly made and had a bit of salad with them.

We enjoyed Sunday lunch at The George Inn. It was very busy but we had no difficulty queuing at carvery. Service was quick. The served portions were a generous size and the choice of vegetables and sauces etc huge. The good was very well cooked and there was a nice ambiance in this rabbit warren of an inn. We were...

Room was very cosy and well kept. Bathroom was very clean. Pub was friendly, particularly liked the table games. Food was typical pub food, nothing special. Overall stay was a nice break, especially after a long day at the zoo.

Travelling from South Wales to Dorset regularly over the past 15 years we have recently stopped at the George for lunch with our grandchildren. It is very children friendly. Food very good and service very good. For a light lunch I would recommend the fish finger sandwich.

Fantastic place to stay. Breakfast was excellent and lots of choice served by the very friendly member of staff called Liz. Twin room was lovely and comfortable. View across river would be hard to beat. Dinner very tasty. Would recommend as a great place to stay.

We have for many years been visiting the George for a Sunday carvery, unfortunately over the past year or so we noticed the standard has dropped. On our last visit (Sunday 8th January) we found the plates cold which made the food go cold very quickly and if like our party you are a roast potatoes fan you will be...

Rooms were a good size, well decorated and clean. Staff were so welcoming and friendly. Complimentary curry and accompaniments was served on New Year's Eve proceeded by a disco, we all had...

Decided to walk the Deverill's on a circular walk using the George as a base. Phoned the night before to book a table and ask if we could use pub car park, both fine, no problem. Halfway through the walk I phoned to change the booking again no problem, although there are lots of tables! We ate in the bar...
