Visited here to get some lunch with our dog on Sunday after going round the Christmas market. We struggled to find a free table so politely asked a woman behind the bar if she knew of any other pubs that welcome dogs as there wasn't any spare tables. She sarcastically repeated what I asked her to a colleague and then... More

The landlord was brilliant and couldn't do enough to help. His cooked breakfasts were amazing and not all the family could finish them. Rooms were great and the pub grub was good and was pet friendly which was a great find. I'd recommend this stay to anyone.

We stopped here for a beer. Really friendly atmosphere, lovely and cosy and dog friendly which was a must. They had doggie treats that they give out. We went back the next day and had a meal. The food was excellent with a great veggie selection.

The holy trinity for travellers. Good room, delicious food and friendly staff. Add in the peak district setting and lovely town of bakewell and it's a fabulous place to stay. The room was on the ground level which is great for those with big bags or not wanting to climb stairs. Despite it being close to the road it was... More

I would give a thousand stars for this establishment. John and Dawn and their team made our stay there outstanding. Fabulous is the word. The room we stayed in, amazing breakfast, but most of all their hospitality and thoughtfulness. Absolutely made my birthday special. 1st time in Peak District. Lovely big room, clean and nicely decorated. Huge breakfast in mornings served by John who was great fun with lots of funny stories. Free parking for those staying here which was very useful. Bakewell was well worth visiting. Highly recommend staying here.

The Castle was recommended by our hotel staff as a dog-friendly place with decent food ... they were right. The place was packed and buzzy ... great atmosphere. Staff were dog-welcoming and the food very good. We had traditional fish and chips which was fresh and was not overcooked as it can be too often. Staff were friendly and helpful,... More
