We ordered 'steak sandwiches'. When they arrived we found fully blown played meals of a quality that far exceeded our expectations. I cannot speak too highly of the food quality, and the two pints of real ale were of a very good standard. Almost enjoyable lunchtime.

We had a nice meal and good beers. The staff was friendly . Traditional pub but with lots of seating . Would be good for a small group in the dining room . Can't beat the location , right at the main round about in town.

The pork sandwich with chips, salad and gravy was memorably good (and reasonably priced) and staff were friendly. The Red Lion was a good choice for lunch. Guess where we will be heading next time we are in the town...

We stayed over on a Sunday, Bakewell was packed during the day, but at night it was like a ghost town!! The Red lion stopped serving food around 18.30 but they managed to get us in (just). the meal was good but we were the only ones in the room. Breakfast was good and hot but again the only ones...

As you don’t appear to have bothered reading your own review before publishing it we won’t bother correcting the errors in it either…but, judging by your love of this website, and your litany of criticisms, nothing is ever good enough for you.

Visited Bakewell early afternoon. Fancied a quick snack, but nothing fancy. Tried the Red Lion and wasn't disappointed. My partner and I, each ordered a roast beef sandwich, which came in a bread roll, and was served with thick cut chips, salad and a jug of gravy. It was excellent and was very reasonable at £6.50. The barman/ waiter, was...

Very friendly pub with a roaring coal fire, very welcoming after a walk to Chatsworth house and back, top pint of pedigree. Did not eat(apart from pork scratchings and crisps!) So can not comment on the food.

Saw the sign saying dogs welcome, so popped in for a drink. There were quite a few other families with their dogs. Our Dalmatian dog was greeted by one of the bar staff, who made a huge fuss of him. We watched some of the food orders coming out and decided to order our own .We weren't disappointed. I had...
