Food was very good and at a reasonable price. Staff was helpful and polite beer was good to. FEW STEPS if you are disabled but worth the effort .has a good selection on the menu. Lots of chippy in bakewell but you get a well presented meal with veg at this restaurant well done to all

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here, as we really felt we had a unique English experience. The rooms are upstairs from the pub, yet very quiet at night. Check in is done at the bar. We had a room with a large bed and a single bed, accommodating the three of us very well. It was very clean and comfortable. The...

My mother and I went to Bakewell for a little holiday and visited this pub twice whilst there. Cosy and welcoming, we thoroughly enjoyed the Homity Pie! Portions are very generous and prices good. Other customers there at the same time gave glowing praise for the steak pie. We also liked the fact that 'snowballs' were on offer at the...

Allocated room 4 on arrival. All rooms appear to be on the first floor with no lift. The manager helped with taking my bag to the room. The room overlooked the rear of the hotel, not the front main street. It was a double bed "in a room above the pub". Furnishings were a bit sparse - just a hanging...

We hadn't booked but managed to get a table on a Saturday night. The waitress was lovely and we chose main courses from the Chef's specials. My haddock with prawns and mushrooms was delicious and my husband said that his chicken stuffed with cheese and garlic was good as well. We spent a leisurely evening with very enjoyable food. The...

It always makes a difference to me when I enter somewhere to a friendly greeting which is what we had at The Red Lion. The pub is a delightful old building which was busy with lots of diners (always a good sign). The food was of restaurant quality but not restaurant prices; my Mother had the roast meal (beef) which...

If it's atmosphere, friendly company, helpful staff and superb food you're after, don't go past the Red Lion in the delightful market town of Bakewell. Judging by the amount of seating in the dog-friendly tap room, the lounge bar and the dining area, lots of others think so too. There's also a large walled outdoor area where, on Thursday nights,...
