Have just spent a lovely weekend at Sheriff Lodge with eleven family members getting together for a 70th birthday celebration. We had a very warm welcome from the owners with much enjoyed tea/coffee and delicious home-made cakes on arrival. The communal area/dining room is beautiful and spacious with a fridge containing chilled water and fruit juice cartons to help yourself...

When we arrived we were greeted by Kate who was very friendly. The B&B is a beautiful Victorian property with many original features. The rooms are really clean and the beds are enormous. Many extra litlle touches such as an emergency box in the wardrobe which included things like make-up wipes and toothpaste. The breakfast was fantastic (too much for...

This was our second visit to Sheriff Lodge this year and everything about it was as great as we remembered. Kate and Alan make you feel very welcome from the moment you arrive with tea or coffee in the lounge (and a delicious home made cake) and provide numerous extras to make your stay special. We stayed in the Mousehole...

This place is a really special guest house. lots of parking, massive room - even complimentary port and soft drinks in the lounge! the room was very nicely decorated, all matching curtains & bedding etc. Nice towels and a great shower. Couldn't ask for better - even from a more expensive hotel. it's about a 5-10 minute walk into town...

AlanJ Thanks for your great posting - lovley to see we are being compared to 'expensive hotels' :-) ...but your comment about the choice from breakfast needs some clarification from us I think. You mention that 'when you order from the massive menu you get just one of each thing'. Well, the reason we offer a choice at breakfast is...

I have stayed in many B&B's during my years and have found the Sheriff Lodge to shine above all others. The owners, Alan & Kate are exceedingly friendly & informative. The B&B is exceptionally clean, the rooms are of the same high standard. For breakfast a menu is supplied that suits all walks of life and are given a choice...

This is our third visit to sheriff lodge and it just keeps getting better. As a coeliac the gluten free breakfast is very important to me, really good choice on the menu, the homemade bread and jam is delicious, Kate and Alan really do pay attention to detail. Cosy, clean environment.

Thanks for your lovely posting - and it's great to see that the information that we provide in each room has had the desired effect. Kate and I take a great deal of trouble to track down the best places to eat and drink - a really tough job and one which I wish I could set against tax:-) See...

This review is long overdue. I've not stayed in a bed and breakfast before so wasn't sure what to expect. This one was truly beautiful and the attention to detail is incredible. The owners are so welcoming and friendly, such nice people. The room was really lovely, spotlessly clean and light and airy. Comfortable bed and great bathroom. I stay...

Wow - 5 star review - thank you very much - only, I'm in trouble now! You have told the world how good your stay was...and that it was great in spite of Kate (aka my Boss and gorgeous wife) being in hospital - now she thinks Sheriff Lodge is better without her! But seriously - thank you for your...

I booked this hotel as a surprise weekend for my husband's 50th birthday. Having stayed in several other B&B's around the country, this was by far the best. From the moment we arrived Alan and Kate could not do enough for us even down to the birthday candle on my husband's fried bread!! The room was perfect for us. The...
