We stopped for a lunch break at this delightful pub in the town centre. The staff were all very young and friendly, eager to please and attentive. The bars were very clean and comfortable. We had a snack lunch which was excellent and extremely reasonable. A special lunch is offered daily in addition to the varied menu. We enjoyed it...

A great location for a visit to Sudbury. Central in the Town market place and all areas easily accessible from The Black Boy. Our room was a lovely large, high ceilinged, well appointed room with ensuite bathroom. This is a 17th Century Hotel which has appreciated a tasteful refurbishment in 2012 internally, yet has maintained it's historical structure, atmosphere and...

Okay, it's a town center pub with rooms above bar so what should I have expected. Room small but clean, bathroom large and clean, windows very old with no sound proofing, breakfast fantastic but not rushed. Noise from bar goes on well after 11pm and the delivery vehicles start from about 6 - 6:30 am so in you are okay...

We stay in Sudbury at least once a year. The last time was March, we normally stay at the Mill Hotel but unfortunately they had a wedding on and had no availability for the 9 of us. Anyhow when we arrived at The Black Boy the manager wasn't over friendly he seemed only interested in taking our money and there...

A great place to stay. very helpful staff and pleasant atmosphere. It certainly is value for money. Rooms comfy with a very good bathroom and toiletries. An old coaching inn, which I like, so it has that quirky feel. Good parking, good beers and all round excellent place to stay.

Lovely old building stylishly transformed into a chic modern eatery. Relaxed atmosphere with helpful staff. Very impressed by the food, which is traditional pub grub but taken up a notch with really delicious attention to detail. The fish and chips were very well cooked & super-tasty. Attention to detail, such as with the home-made tartar sauce makes this place stand...

Hi, Great to hear you enjoyed your visit with us. The fish and chips will always be slightly different as we vary the ale used in the batter depending on what's on in the bar. We have also just joined the Craft Gin Club so you will get the chance to enjoy a different gin every month! See you soon!

We stayed at the black boy as simply somewhere local after visiting friends, upon check in we were given a better room than we had booked which was a nice touch, very polite staff who explained the keys and how to get in and out after hours. The room was large bright and for the age of the building well...

We were on a overnight stay locally and on investigating the local town on a very hot day this was a welcome sight for refreshment. I must say on entering The Black Boy we were very impressed with the decor. After looking along the bar pumps to see what was available I was over the moon to see real ale...
