Why stay in Lunenburg or Mahone Bay, when you can get there on a short scenic drive from the serenity of Toba’s Bed and Breakfast in LaHave?

We checked out of at Toba’s Bed and Breakfast this morning and it is truly a special gem. We experienced the perfect blend of relaxation and warm hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine smiles, a welcome hug and an atmosphere that made us feel right at home.

The location was absolutely picturesque, nestled in the serene beauty of LaHave, surrounded by lush greenery and breathtaking views of the river. It was a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Take the free cable ferry across the River, stop at the LaHave Bakery for some treats and enjoy a day at the Crystal Crescent Beach.

Cathy and Kelly, the mother daughter duo who run the inn with love and passion, leave no detail untouched. The rooms were not only immaculate but also thoughtfully decorated, creating a cozy and inviting ambiance. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room included a second floor view of the River.

One of the highlights of our stay, in addition to sitting on the porch and enjoying the River view (and petting Charlie and Ellie) was the delicious homemade breakfast served each morning. From fresh fruit and muffins to savory delights, every breakfast was a culinary delight.

Use Toba’s as your home base while exploring the South Shore.

You are in for a treat! The hosts are gracious, friendly, and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Our stay was in the side room, and we felt completely comfortable with the amount of space. We slept very well, with the sparse cars winding down the river road dwindling to none by bedtime. Cleanliness is immaculate. Little touches, like home-bake cookies, soft linens, and fragrant hand soaps add to the luxury. Breakfast is done in three courses, with sweet first, and a savoury course so filling you might not need to eat the rest of the day! Loving care has been put into the recipes, and if you stay for a few days, look out for the mouth-watering 'Toba's Special.' Be sure to spend a sunset on the porch to wind down the day.

This is the best B&B experience - the place was pristine clean and fresh. Luscious sheets, towels, and bath robes. A delightful cuddly throw on the bed. Fresh flowers, chocolates and freshly baked cookies greeted us in our room daily. As well, a guest fridge stocked with beverages, wine and beer. The most outstanding quality was the delightful culinary breakfasts ! So delicious and wholesome. Host Cathy & Kelly are so gracious and welcoming and genuinely care about the guest experience, very professional. Thank you ! We were beyond impressed. Thank you

My partner and I stayed at Toba's for one night on our way to visit the south shore and Halifax. We were extremely happy with our stay! Kelly and Kathy's warm welcome made us feel at home. We were delighted to find some homemade chocolate chip cookies in our room as well as some chocolates, which were such a nice touch! The personalized note was also a very thoughtful gesture that we both appreciated. Breakfast was royal and eating in the nicely decorated living room was a wonderful experience. I wish I could eat there every morning!

I also really enjoyed the toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, hand soap)!

If you are thinking of staying there: DO IT! We highly recommend it!

We stayed at Toba's July 14-16. Kelly and Cathy were fantastic hosts! Beautuful historic home along the LaHaye River. We were in the Captain's room which was large and very comfortable. The ensuite bath was perfect (with a great shower). The breakfasts were amazing! The hosts provide lots of little extras- fresh baked treats/sweets in your room, fresh water, blankets for the evening spent drinking wine on the porch and watching the sunset over the river, etc. K and C were very pleasant and super-positive, and were a great source of local info. It felt like we were staying in a friend's riverfront home. 5 stars all around. We will definitely be back!

From our "welcome home" at 11:30pm (9 hours later than planned) to our warm hugs good-bye three days later, this is not just a place to stay, but a very special memory. Cathy and Kelly are outstanding hosts and cooks. The home and accommodations are lovely but what makes this so special is feeling like you're part of the family, Cathy, Kelly, Tony and the two beautiful dogs. Please know that if you're not a dog person, you will not see the dogs as they are very well behaved and only allowed to socialize when requested.
The rooms were very comfortable and sitting on the front porch with lovely views of the LaHave river is a delight. In the morning you can add Hummingbirds and in the evening the sunsets are stunning.
I have travelled the world and this place is in my top 5. I will be back again and again!
And it is conveniently located near Lunenburg and other lovely towns but you get to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a piece of heaven.
Thank you so much Cathy and Kelly for making this such a special place.

We've stayed in many B&B over the years. Toba's Bed and Breakfast sets the standard. From the sincere, warm greeting as you arrive, their gracious hospitality never ends. Their home is truly yours to enjoy, and what a beautiful home inside and out. The sunsets over the water while sitting on their covered front porch are amazing. And what a way to start your morning - their wonderful breakfasts are prepared and presented as though you were on a cruise. If you want to kick back and enjoy the home, this is the place to do it. Or, use their home as a central location to Lunenburg and other areas. Trust their recommendations to sights and local restaurants - always spot on! Thank you Cathy and Kelly for making special memories of our trip!

My husband and I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts and this stay/experience was easily the BEST we have ever had. The mother daughter team of Cathy and Kelly have a deep knowledge about the area and what to do and see. They gave great advice on hikes, restaurants, and exploring the area. The breakfasts are delicious with both a mix of sweet and savory. The dishes are precise and made with love. Rooms are comfortable and relaxing. There are 3 rooms upstairs and we stayed in the Mayflower room. This room has a big bay window and nook to sit. Know that they will treat you very kindly and are very passionate about making your stay a great time. You will be glad to book here.

Beautiful place! Upon arrival we were taken back by the beauty of the location - right across from the river. Immediately we were greeted outside and welcomed with open arms. Cathy & Kelly took us on a tour and showed us to our spacious, comfortable room with all the amenities you need when traveling.
Every morning they made us a delicious breakfast!
Cathy & Kelly are the best hosts! Making sure your comfortable or suggesting something to see in the area.
This is a great location, close to Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and many other areas to see!
I highly recommend Toba's Bed & Breakfast - you won't be disappointed!
Thank you Cathy & Kelly for all your hospitality! You truly made our vacation a memorable one! We will definitely be back.
