This hotel is in Santa Ana which is sort of a suburb of San Jose. An Uber into central San Jose cost about $14 US dollars. We wanted to spend more on our hotel in Monteverdi and to use our Marriott points in San Jose. The Aloft worked out very well for the few nights we were there. It is very moderately priced for what you get. Although smallish, the room is laid out well and all the amenities are modern. The shower was excellent as were the beds. The included buffet breakfast is really good and there is a chef who prepares eggs to your taste. All the fruits and vegetables in CR are amazing. Santa Ana is an expat area and there is a mall directly across the street. On our first night we ate at a Mexican restaurant in the mall and were pleasantly surprised. In fact, every meal we had in Costa Rica was yummy. Like in all of Costa Rica, the people are all relaxed and helpful. Jairo, the bartender, was especially helpful. Virtually everyone speaks English. I recommend this hotel if you’re watching your budget and don’t mind being outside of San Jose.

Of the Marriott properties, this one had the best prices in regards to both cash and reward stays. The area is a 30 minute Uber from most of downtown San Jose, however it's close to the airport and closer to Poas Volcano, Jaco Beach, and other popular places that downtown hotels are. Everything you need is walking distance including a supermarket down the road and restaurants close by.
I had a 6th floor room facing west towards the busy road, but the glass was fairly well soundproofed and the remaining sounds was drowned out by my AC/fan running.
Breakfast was included, and as a Titanium member, I was granted welcome points, a daily specialty coffee voucher, and a late check out. Staff were nice and helpful. I enjoyed laying out by the pool on a sunny day, and using the gym each morning (need to make a reservation for capacity reasons). Oh, and there is a free laundry room on the 7th floor. Handy for washing and drying your clothes.

We stayed here one night before flying out of SJO. It was better priced than the Marriott (Courtyard) airport locations and I needed 2 rooms so I decided to stay here. I had never stayed an Aloft before and it kind of felt cheap Vegas style hotel. The rooms were comfortable. We walked across the street to the mall to eat dinner but only a couple restaurants (Olive Garden, Johnny Rockets and an overpriced Mexican restaurant). We decided to go back to the hotel and order pizza. We couldn’t call to order with just wifi but the gentleman at the front desk let us use the phone and we drove to pick it up. Since there were 4 of us we decided it was easier to eat in the lobby rather than the room. We started to eat and the bar tender told us we could not eat any food that wasn’t purchased from the hotel outside of our rooms. (Eye roll)— whatever— they didn’t even have a restaurant.
This hotel is on one of the busiest streets in San Jose and it goes from 2 lanes to 1 lane and back so it is very heavy traffic and very slow. It’s really not far from the airport but we left at 7:00 am and it took us 38 minutes. I think next time I’d either pay the extra and stay at the Courtyard by the airport or forget about my Marriott status and choose the Hampton Inn or another brand closer to the airport.

We stayed at Aloft on our last night in Costa Rica. We had a flight out in the morning and needed a nice and clean hotel, somewhat near the airport, that was affordable, with some good restaurants nearby. This place checked all the boxes. The staff was very nice and responsive to requests. They have an on-site restaurant but we didn’t eat there. There is also a full service bar that has a happy hour from 5-9 with 2 for 1 specials. It is also next door to a McDonalds. Across the steer there is a mall that had a food court with many restaurants.
We asked about other restaurants in the area and there is a great selection within walking distance (within 200 meters). We walked down the street and ate at La Fabricca (a pizza and pasta place). It was very good.
The room was great. I liked the layout and it felt very fresh and modern. We had a very comfortable night here. I really liked the proximity to everything, including the main highway that takes you to Jaco. We got a room for about $100/night in mid-September. I felt it was a fair price for what we got.

We needed a place to stay on our final night in Costa Rica before flying out the next day. As a Marriott Member, the Aloft was a great option for relaxing after an adrenaline filled 8 day trip around Costa Rica. We were exhausted by the time we reached San Jose, so having a cute bar to grab a few drinks before turning on a movie and laying in our heavenly beds, was really exactly what we needed. One person from our group was going to have a full day at the hotel before flying, so having a pool was key to where we would book. Nice & comfortable stay.

Stayed here two nights recently and really enjoyed it. The room is clean and comfortable and the wifi is good. We had adjoining rooms with our daughter and her family and the hotel provided cute tents with air mattresses for the kids, which they loved! It's also a pet friendly hotel. Breakfast is included and was delicious. The kids enjoyed the pool. Highly recommend.

First I want to say the staff is as nice as I have encountered. I want to specifically mention Tiani and Yorlenny at the front desk because most of my interaction was with them. Tiani assisted me numerous times and was so very pleasant and helpful. Yorlenny is a very friendly, engaging, and personable individual who makes your day better just talking with her. Both are wonderful! But again, everyone was great! Location is excellent, although traffic noise is unavoidable due to roadway. The hotel is showing wear, but nothing terrible. Just not up to Marriott standards in my room. Maybe some recent damages? Everything functioned well and the room was comfortable. Due to the design, hall noise is a bit high. But was not a problem for me as the other guests were considerate. The one complaint I have is of a personal nature. And it is the reason I did not give 5 bubbles. They obviously use a water softening system. And that means you often cannot rinse the soap off your hands or body. I HATE that. I will not stay again because of that, but it likely won't bother most people. Overall it was a pleasant stay with a wonderful staff!

The hotel is great, clean, the beds are comfortable, and quiet to rest. The include breakfast has different options. The people who works for service are friendly special the person who works to recommend you the attractions out of town. Feel safe and pleasant.

This is a great hotel for a business trip to San Jose Costa Rica. Specifically if you have business meetings with any of the companies located at Forum 2. The hotel is literally at walking distance to The offices at Forum 2. Walk through the back of the swimming pool of the hotel and you are inside Forum 2.
Rooms are great as every Aloft I have visited, clean and very comfy. Included breakfast is abundant and with many options. There is also a restaurant open for lunch and dinner.
Employees are very kind and with a great sense of giving their customers adecúate service. But this is common in Costa Rica.

We stayed at this hotel before an early morning flight from SJO. The room was larger than I expected and very clean. The staff was helpful and called a taxi for us in the morning. It would be even better if they provided a shuttle to the airport.
Since we were leaving too early for the free breakfast, they provided packed breakfast, which was a roll, a plum, and a pre-made sandwich. Not great, but at least they tried. This hotel is near plenty of restaurants and a nice grocery store.

oops wrong A Loft Hotel, sorry
Most of the rental places are located about 20 minutes away close to the airport. The cab ride from the rental places to the Aloft will cost you 25$USD.
6 to 10. Sometimes 6-10:30. It is a very good breakfast.

There will be no problem to store your luggage in the hotel. Remember to keep your ticket in order to ask for them again.
