My wife and I were here using Kenmare as a base to tour the area. The proprietors were a super nice couple and their home was perfect. The room we were in was huge and comfortable. We had nice breakfasts before traveling. Make sure to go out to the right and over the little bridge and around to town at...

Sorry for the late review, but better late than never. I really liked Forgefield House. Sam and Sheila run a great BnB in the wonderful town of Kenmare. Both were very friendly and were helpful with traveling tips. My teenage daughter and I stayed here for two nights in the latter part of July. Our ground floor room was very...

Staying with Sam and Sheila at Forgefield House was excellent in every aspect. They were kind and caring in absolutely everything. Lovely extremely spacious rooms, comfortable beds, beautifully modern bathrooms and very thoughtful attention to detail, such as providing nice slippers to their guests. Their breakfast is excellent and delicious, cooked to order and done with a lovely view out...

My girlfriend and I stayed there for 2 nights and it was perfect. Warm welcome with tea and biscuits, a lovely room en suite with king size bed and a big breakfast with a nice chat in the morning. Perfect 'base camp' to discover the southwest like ring of kerry and ring of beara or kilarney national park.

We felt very much at...

Accommodations were okay. Would have like to have known we were staying so far out of town -- write-up referred to "a short walk" into town of Kenmare. Probably half-hour walk on road w/o sidewalks and barely room enough for the two-way traffic. Sam and Sheila were very nice and gave us a very good recommendation for touring Beara Penn...

Fantastic room, for 3 of us, with beautiful single and enormous double bed. Sheila and Sam were Very friendly hosts. A little outside of town but drove us in to our restaurant, which was a lovely gesture. The breakfast was top class. Loved our visit.

“The rooms upstairs share a bathroom, but it's huge, so if you're a family and you're okay with that, I'd book the rooms upstairs. The downstairs room is very spacious, but the sunrise greets you really early and really bright. The beds are beyond comfortable in each room, though. You can't go wrong in whichever room you choose.”

“If using Kenmare as a base for the Ring of Kerry - I suggest getting an early start and driving the ring Counter-Clockwise. Tour buses start going around Clockwise and you won't get stuck driving behind a bus as you make your way around.”
