The hotel has many government guidelines in place to keep guests safe from Covid-19. Multiple sanitisation stations throughout the hotel, masks to be worn when walking through hotel (able to take them off once seated). Only guests are currently able to use the restaurant/bar and the seating area out the front of the hotel which is great as not many places have these outside areas at the moment. Throughout my stay the housekeeping staff never stopped cleaning. The staffs efforts to keep this hotel clean/safe for guests is incredible.
The food in the restaurant here is 5star quality, I’d say the best meal we had the entire time we were in Bundoran. The bar staff were always helpful anytime we needed anything or example some ice for our room for some drinks upstairs once the bar was closed.
Night Porter Kevin was a legend.
Will definitely be booking here again when we come back to Bundoran once everything in town reopens, looking forward to it.
We then made our way to the room which looked like it hadn't been cleaned. There was a lot of dust on the bedside lockers and the table. The stool under the table was in a terrible condition and needs to be replaced. My wife went down to reception to make them aware and see if we could get a room move. She was told by receptionist "The only room I have would mean breaking up a group and I don't want to do that to accommodate someone like you". We ended up getting cleaning supplies and cleaning it ourselves. My wife asked if there was a manager on duty to be told there wasn't. For a bank holiday Sunday this seems a bit strange.
We decided to go for a bite to eat in the bar, The initial waitress was very friendly and took our order with a fairly good attitude. We ordered a burger and steak. My wife is coeliac and we are assured that everything was Gluten Free. The waitress came back and told us that there was wheat in the burger and asked if she would like something else. She decided to have bacon and cabbage. When this arrived the cabbage was cold as ice. We asked for fresh cabbage but all that was done was that it was stuck in the microwave and all the food was as dry as a bone.
When we decided to call it a night if felt like we were sleeping in a sauna. We had left the window open but it was still unbearably warm. I woke up covered in sweat and felt horrible starting my day off like that. Breakfast was nearly the best part but was still noting special.
All in all this was a very disappointing stay and I would not recommend this hotel to any family or friends.
Breakfast was a disaster. We queued for cooked breakfast only to be told there were no fryed or scrambled eggs ready. We sat at table to wait 5 minutes. Queued again for a full Irish, this time they had no sausages or bacon, had to wait again, by the time they came out the rest of breakfast was cold. Complained to waitress and asked to speak to who was in charge but no one came out.
This is the first time I have ever felt the need to write a bad review. Just wanted to share our experience as these places are not cheap and this particular hotel is not value for money.
Needless to say we won't be back
