Stayed here for just one night before a Christening and was very impressed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I even received a call shortly before our arrival informing us that the restaurant bookings were filling up quick just in case we wished to book a table, and that we could always change our mind afterwards, which was a nice touch.

We upgraded to a deluxe suite when booking as there was only a small increase in pricing. The room was beautiful, trendy, modern and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and we woke up feeling very well rested.

The hotel has taken all the necessary cautions due to the Covid-19 pandemic and we felt very safe during our stay. We were told that the room contents had been stripped back a bit, and that item such as hairdryers and tea/coffee making facilities had been removed to reduce the risk of infection. If we needed anything, we could then simply request it and they would send up a sanitised one for us.

Our food that night was delicious and very reasonably priced. We were very impressed with all the truly local produce used throughout the menu also.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at The Castle Hotel and we would happily stay here again.

Thank you for a wonderful time.

I visit Ireland a couple of times a year but this was my first stay at the Castle in Macroom. Very impressive. Service was excellent. We were early for our check in as our flight was early, however, i got a parking space no problem out the back of the hotel and the receptionist rang the cleaner and asked for our room to be made ready quickly. It was done in 10 minutes. Thank you! Great selection at breakfast and their buffet lunches (not included in the room cost) were excellent, especially the bread pudding! :-) Bar is open late for drinks and bar staff are friendly and attentive. The Castle is not the cheapest place to stay in the area but you do really get what you pay for. I also recommend Granville Restaurant about 2 minute walk down the road from the Castle and if you are on a budget then there is a supermarket right next door. Perfect stop over for those on the Ring of Kerry. Their attached swimming pool with jacuzzi and steam room was good and my 3 year old loved swimming there.

Will definitely stay again so see you next time.

We hadn't been into the Castle Hotel for a number of years so didn't know what to expect but what a find! Everything about this hotel is quality. We had spent a few days travelling around Kerry but nothing we experienced across the country bounds came even close to the quality we experienced at this hotel. We were met by a very helpful hostess who showed us to our table. The dining area is tastefully decorated and every Covid regulation was being properly implemented.
The menu was better than anything we saw in the previous days. It had great variety, was imaginative and used all local producers. Our meal was truly superb and was served by a young waiter who was knowledgeable and just so polite. It was obvious that a lot of effort has gone into staff training. An elderly lady at the table beside us had a very trivial complaint about her sandwich and the waiter was just so patient and respectful in offering her a new sandwich (she declined). He also had no issue whatever in me substituting halloumi for chips on my steak sandwich. He really couldn't do enough for us.
The reception area is lovely with some quite spectacular ceramic pieces and the toilets were spotless.
Unfortunately, there was no-one at the reception desk as we left so that we could thank them.
We have traditionally stopped to eat in Baile Mhùirne on our way home from Kerry but it will definitely be Macaroon from now on.
Well done to all at the Castle and continued success.

Stayed for two nights in the Castle Hotel, as a gift to my mom for her birthday.
Arrived early but could check in with no issues. The staff at the front desk were lovely and friendly. We were informed the room had been stripped back as Covid precautions, so no tea/coffee maker or hairdryer etc, but we were reassured we could ask for these if we needed them. Again, the staff couldn't do enough for you.
The room, 221, was spacious with a double bed, single bed, sofa and small table. It was clean and comfortable. It could do with some minor works, but nothing too important (cracks in bathroom tiles and curtain loops broken). Didn't affect our stay at all, but would make the hotel more lovely if it were done.
Breakfast was delicious and as much food as you wanted. It was table service, but the wait staff came around frequently to see if there was anything else we wanted. The second morning they had run out of a few staple items (porridge and fruit), but they sourced some bananas in the kitchen which I was very grateful for.
There is a gym and leisure centre which I chose not to use and went for local runs instead, there is a lovely trail in Lee Valley reserve just a kilometer or so away to run in. You do need to reserve the leisure centre in advance.
We didn't dine for dinner in the hotel, but had lunch one day in the cafe which was lovely and reasonably priced. We searched the town for somewhere for lunch but this was the best place by far.
Would defiantly recommend a stay. Only advice is the hotel could benefit from some minor works, but otherwise a locely stay!

I would like to thank the most amazing staff in the Castle Hotel Macaroom for looking after us during our staycation over the last few days. It is one of the safest environments I have experienced during these very unusual times due to their high sanitizing procedures in the hotel and adjoining cafe. The food was fantastic throughout our stay but I have to say they have the most unique staff ever- they go above and beyond their call of duty. The bedrooms and communial areas are spotlessly clean. I would absolutely recommend a stay in this hotel where you can be pampered and safe at the same time, cannot wait to return.

I spent the bank holiday weekend in the Castle Hotel in Macroom, with some family members. From the moment we arrived we were looked after by exceptionally friendly, polite and organized staff. It really felt like a home away from home and everyone was amazing… The decor was beautiful and the art work around every corner interesting. A high standard of COVID compliance and cleanliness was evident everywhere… We ate both breakfast and evening meals in the hotel and staff were more than happy to accommodate my particular dietary requirements. The waitress each night was exceptionally pleasant…. The town and hotel felt so safe I’m planning to visit with elderly parents later in the summer, with a car, definitely a perfect base for sightseeing… Would really, really recommend this family run business. It’s not every day every one from the manager down stops to check how you are getting on. Can’t wait to book our return trip.

We stayed at the castle hotel last weekend with extended family and it’s true what other reviewers have said about the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. We organised the trip with Kay McCarthy from the hotel and she was very helpful with advice on rooms and activities in the area. The castle is perfect for those who want to explore south Kerry or west cork. We climbed carrantoohill on Saturday with Kerryclimbing and went on a whale watching boat trip on Sunday near union hall and both were within easy reach. The food in the bar was outstanding with a wide and imaginative menu. The cleanliness of the rooms is of a very high standard and there is a member of staff constantly cleaning doors, counters etc in the public areas. This is a family run hotel and we met the owners on several occasions over the weekend and they were also helpful and friendly. The leisure centre is great and you should book time slots before you go. We also went to Beal na blath the site of Michael Collins assassination, he actually visited the hotel on his final journey. We will return next year and try the zip lining and kayaking which is nearby. Gougaine barra is also worth a visit. Thank you to all at the castle hotel for a great weekend.

We enjoyed a lovely 3 nights break, staff very friendly, evidence of adherance to covid 19 guidelines with all staff wearing masks, socially distanced dining in restaurant and cafe, hand sanitizers everywhere. We booked an hour of swimming which was lovely only 6 people in pool.food excellent, service excellent. Highly recommend this hotel and will return.

We had a christening on Valentine’s weekend and we would like to say a big Thank you to the castle hotel staff. Special thank you has to go to Jack Dunn and the team on the day. One lady (can’t remember her name) helped us decorate our room and she was doing all other cleaning around the area to make the area as comfortable and well laid out ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thanks so so much for everything. Made the day stress free and really appreciated it.

This hotel is located in the middle of the town on the main street. Our room was far enough away that no traffic was loud enough to wake us up.I think it was a side view room,we could barely see the castle but not that noisy.
