Lots of charm and character in Abbeyglen. A sweet parrot in the reception room. Wonky piano & singing in the evenings. Spooky hallways that wind around to your lived-in bedroom. It's best to walk the short distance to downtown Clifden for dinner. This part of Ireland has so much to offer!

We've stayed twice at Abbeyglen and love it. It is so much fun - the piano in the lounge, the excellent dinners, amazing service and beautiful location. It truly is like a great house party waiting for you to arrive - we always come away with new friends. I gave the room a 4 only because there are great rooms...

Amazing place to stay...I told my friends and family I would best describe it all as a tad 'bonkers'!! But when I say that I don't mean the level of service, the overwhelming friendliness and the food was in any bonkers!! Yes the place is oldlie worldie, but we love that. The owner and his son just could not do...

while the food is not the best in the world and the place looks like it could do with a wee bit of a clean there is no beating the charm, sense of history and sense of occasion that Abbeyglen has to offer. So many quirky touches to the place and to the level of service that it offers that...

I visited with my family just after Christmas. This is a genuine hotel castle experience in an old world setting with turf fires, etc. The owners are personally involved with history talks, music, etc. The accommodation and food were excellent. I would definitely recommend.

We stayed here for 1 night as a treat and booked the room directly through the website. The promised tea and scones we didn't get however there was a champagne reception. The hotel and food was nice however the room that we have booked was very dark and the decor rather dated. The bathroom was a disaster. The toilet seat...

Really enjoyed our stay in Abbeyglen just after Christmas. Warm welcome, cosy room. Dinner was amazing both evenings. All in all a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings. Best wishes to all in Abbeyglen for the coming year.

Spent two nights at this Hotel and felt the whole place could do with a makeover, a bit of paint and soft furnishing, less pomp re-arrange the bar could make this place a great place as it is it was OK. A 5min walk to Cliften town with good Restaurants serving great food can be found. You don't have to...

Our family booked two rooms at Abby Glen, and in fact I am here typing this review. I'd like to be soaking in a hot tub but the hotel "tends to run a bit low on hot water in the mornings and evenings" (quote from the front desk). Great location near town. Beautiful area. In retrospect I wish we had...

Of all the castles we stayed in, this was by far, our favorite. tucked into the side of a cliff, the hotel was amazing and yet very down to earth. We felt at home with the lobby and piano bar, visiting with locals and laughing with new friends. Dinner was extravagant and had the biggest dessert bar I've ever seen!...
