We stayed at Hillcrest House for three nights as part of a getaway trip. There is little in the immediate vicinity (the Red Fox is a decent pub and a manageable walk), but Glenbeigh, a few km in one direction and Killorglin in the other will give you pretty much everything you need, and you are within an hour's drive of a lot of things to do and see.

The B and B was clean, quiet, and our hostess was attentive and helpful. Breakfast was pretty much standard, prepared to order and quite tasty.

First, this is a great place to start the Ring of Kerry. You are below the hustle and bustle of Killarney and you can beat the tour buses to the Ring of Kerry. It is just off the main road for the Ring of Kerry and the owner Bridgette was so lovely and delightful. Truly accommodating. And she responded immediately to our email request which was done while we were in Ireland so we were so happy to get a confirmation. She even packed us a lunch for our day trip to Skellig Michal...Really above and beyond. Breakfast was great. Rooms were spotlessly clean. Great location to start your Kerry experience.

I think a lot of people need to realize a few things about B&Bs in Ireland. Unless they say they are "luxury" they are really rather basic. But very good value. Generally, the price is a good indicator. I think B&Bs in Ireland are a bargain. I paid about $47 USD for my own room bathroom en suite. So clean, new updated bed linens, including a huge great breakfast. I mention this because i have seen reviews of many B&Bs in Ireland as I searched for my trip and people seem to have unrealistic, weird expectations. If you want a hotel... go get one. But the B&Bs are such a nice way to meet the locals and have a more personal experience with Ireland.

Stayed in July last year and really enjoyed by 3 nights here. Found it was a great base as very central to everything. A short walk (5 min) on a lovely country lane to the local pub & restaurants, music in the pub also very good. We had the Irish Stew with a lovely glass of Guinness. Rooms were spacious with a beautiful breakfast, all you can eat. The best part of the trip was the owner, very helpful lady. I would stay here again if I was in Glenbeigh because it has the scenery of the countryside but the convenience of local pub a short walk away.

My wife and I had a great stay at this location recently and wished we stayed longer. The bed, bath, breakfast, and beautiful scenery of the tallest mountain in Ireland from the breakfast nook was spectacular. The place was immaculate and decorated nicely with the comforts of home. Thanks to a wonderful hostess who fed us a delicious breakfast each morning.

Found this place just because others werw fully booked and what a hidden gem this is!!on our arrival lovely host Bridget provided us real itish welcome (the one I've been reading about, but never received)-tea and scones were waiting for us as soon as we werw ready to enjoy it.room spacious and comfy bed.very well decorated and light calming colours.after lonh srive from dublin this was what we were looking for.lounge and entrance hall nicely decorated as well.tou can set your own time for breakfast whenever you're ready.full irish served menu available, ceareals, fruits and pastries.on the way to breakfast room saw guest book where last comment was "best porridge ever",unfortunately not for me...usually in public places porridge is boiled in water (that's why I always avoid it as I like it boiled in milk and with a pinch of butter),but after this comment decided to give a chance-unfortunately same tasteless porridge with a "honey" (yes, honey which is actually not honey and ia uaed everywhere in ireland.again-I never consume honey provided in public places).if you plan to watch tv,there arw only 6 rte channels, but tgis didn't bother us as tv was not in oyr plans on our holidays.
However all in all will raise both hands if I'll be asked about this place and will suggest it without hesitation.

HILLCREST HOUSE located in County Kerry, (Ring of Kerry) Glenbeigh, Ireland was the absolute best B&B we had the pleasure of staying in during our 7 day trip around Ireland. Mrs Bridget McSweeney was such a wonderful host and her breakfast was delicious and bountiful. She has been operating this B&B for 35 years but it looks like it was built just a few years ago. We understand it was newly renovated and it shows. Clean, Clean Clean and the room was roomy and the bed was great. We would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a wonderful nights rest. What can we say about the view from this home? Look at our picture!

Best B&B of our trip. The breakfast we had was something we’ve never seen before: scones, croissants, “the full irish”, … Our hostess Bridget even went to buy fresh salmon for breakfast one day. In the evening we were treated with coffee and biscuits. Bridget took really good care of us, gave us tips on what to see and do and even was our personal weather lady  Thanks for the wonderful treatment, you made us feel really welcome and enjoyed our 4 day stay in Kerry.
