This B&B is handily located in Glenbeigh just off the main road, walking distance to twp hotels with places to eat, Rossbeigh beach is very close by and it is a great base for exploring the ring of Kerry and beyond. The breakfast was great! The price of the B&B is fair for the accommodation provided. The power in the shower is incredible and the bathroom and room were clean. It was not our first stay in Kerry Ocean Lodge as we were there about 5 years previously and had no issues with the B&B at all. This time however we were in a different room, unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable, the springs from the mattress were poking through, despite turning the mattress around it didn't improve, the bed was also very squeaky and loud. Overall the B&B was good and a fair amount was paid for the 4 days. We also didn't speak to the staff about the issue with the bed at the time as it seemed busy and we were unsure if we would be able to be moved. Overall I would return again for one night but would probably not stay longer than that if returning again.

Another wonderful stay at KOL. The warmth of welcome from the team has certainly not reduced despite their reassuringly strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines. As always, breakfast was top class and the rooms were spotless. Looking forward to returning next summer.

The bed was very uncomfortable (actually lousy). The lock on the door wouldn't engage from the inside so had to sleep with one-eye open. A lot of road noise and there was no coffee in the room. Overall, even though the cost was a value, there are definitely better choices that could have been made.

We felt a warm welcome here, amazing power shower, perfect for after a swim or walk at Rossbeigh beach. Vegetarian breakfast was delicious and great coffee. We will be back again next year, thanks to all the staff who took great care of us.

Arrived late on Friday of May Bank holiday. Met at reception by a "child" and a man appeared and gave us our key. Room was freezing with window open. My partner went downstairs and located the reception man drinking red wine in a back room. He asked about the heating and the reply was "did you ever hear of patience...It comes on in half an hour at 9.30".The heating never came on. I asked for wifi password which did not work until after 10pm. On Saturday my partner went to shop and had forgotten his key it was after 10pm and the reception man did not answer the door I had to go down and leave him in. On departing on Sunday met by reception man who barked "that will be €98"...no please or thank you. Shocking for such a lovely lodge, rooms are modern and Homely and Glenbeigh is beautiful". Would not stay here again.

Booked in to this B&B which we had pre paid for. The "angry little man" mentioned in Ashley's review treated us as if we were half wits, was very condescending and downright rude. The room was very clean, but small and not at all like any pictured.
The TV did work, but the picture was lousy. We made a coffee and went to the public lounge only to find the "angry little man" ensconced there with his glass of wine and a hostile attitude. He was watching HIS choice of program and we were made feel as if we were intruding.
We mentioned that the TV picture was dreadful and were met with a blank stare.

Next day we mentioned the TV again and asked if someone could fix it.The little man told us that reception was not good in that particular room. We asked to be moved to a room with TV reception and anyone would think we had asked him to cut his arm off. At first he told us there were no rooms available and after we pointed out that we knew there were he threw a key at us and said we could move ourselves.

I have to say the breakfast was very good with rapid service, but if you choose to stay at this B&B, don't ask for anything and don't sit in the guest lounge.

After a long day of traveling, we weren't sure if we were going to make it to the hotel in time to check in. Called to see about canceling the room and were told it wasn't an option. Did everything we could to rush to the hotel and called 45 minutes out to make sure everything was ok only to be told rooms (2rooms) were cancelled... After going back and forth for a few moments we were told we still had the 2 rooms at the original price ... (seriously??) ok... Thinking everything was ok, showed up at hotel ready to sleep, only to be greeted by an angry little man with a huge attitude!! Upon telling him my name he slammed down a piece of paper on the desk in front of me telling me rooms were cancelled. He yelled at me and told me I was rude while I was dumbfounded!! Told me to lower my voice(I am In a strange country and honestly was kinda freaking out here)... I made sure to be as agreeable as possible while this man chewed me down to size!! I was so upset I ran out of the hotel in tears and opted to PAY for another hotel completely! My husband and I stayed at the oak tree lodge closer to town for the same rate(still payed for the other room)...oak tree was incredibly friendly and like a breath of fresh air after the horrible experience of Kerry ocean. I wouldn't send my worst enemy there!!! Please don't waste your time. You don't treat people that way!! I don't believe in confrontation at all... And promised myself I would write this review... Please ... Call John at the oak tree lodge... He will treat you right and serve you an amazing Irish breakfast with a smile!! It's even with in walking distance of pubs and restaurants:)

We stayed at the Kerry Ocean Lodge for one night as part of a three day swing through southwest Ireland. We were a group of three couples and booked almost six months in advance via Expedia, ultimately paying €65 per room.

The town was quaint and the room was fine, but the check-in experience we endured left a bad taste in our mouths.

We have travelled extensively around the world and when we do, we always try to be careful not to assume that customs and protocols will be the same as they are at home. One thing we had never encountered was a hotel this size with a deadline for checking in (in this case, 8:00 pm). This is a 20 room hotel, not a B&B or guest house. However, when we booked, we missed the fact that the check-in deadline was printed on the confirmation. That was entirely our fault.

After a long day that started in County Clare (well north of the Cliffs of Moher) and continued on with supper in Dingle, we arrived at the Kerry Ocean Lodge around 10:30 pm, oblivious to the fact that we were 2+ hours later than the check-in deadline. When we presented ourselves at reception, the fellow at the desk looked at me, aghast that I was showing up at that hour. When he expressed his shock at the situation (i.e., that we were trying to check in so late), I quickly apologized and asked whether it would be a problem.

What followed was probably the worst customer treatment I have ever experienced in any context. The man at the desk berated us for missing the deadline. He seemed beside himself that we had the audacity to show up so late, seemingly unable to comprehend that we had been unaware of the check-in deadline (or that there even could be a deadline). Had he complained that we hadn’t been diligent in checking our reservation confirmation, that might have been one thing, but he went on and on about how late we were and how lucky we were that he was still there. As he eventually turned to get the keys after his final lecture, I’m sure I heard him mutter to himself, “the nerve of some people to show up this late”. When we attempted to ask a simple question to help us decide how to divide the rooms among our party of six, he provided a hostile non-answer.

I would have been fine if he had charged us a late check-in fee. I almost would have preferred if he had refused to honour our reservation. Instead, he just chastised us over and over for how late we showed up, still expecting to check in.

By the next morning when we checked out, he seemed more pleasant, almost sheepish as if he realized how inappropriately he had behaved the night before (although no apology was forthcoming). The whole episode left us with a very negative impression of that portion of our trip. And as a result, I would suggest booking somewhere other than the Kerry Ocean Lodge.

This place was clean and the breakfast comparable to many other full Irish breakfasts offered in other hotels. However, that was as good it got here. It seemed like we were the only guests staying there the night we were there. Our room was very cold and when we asked if we could turn the heat on, discovered that it was centrally controlled and were told they would turn it on...it never was. The light in the bathroom malfunctioned the whole time - it would not stay on consistently, instead just constantly blinked on and off. We were also not given enough towels or blankets. The wifi was also very spotty. Overall, it was a very disappointing stay, especially considering that we paid the same price for another hotel on the same trip that was much much better.
