We've just done 7 nights in Cottage Heights using it as our base to explore Beara and West Cork generally. We were two families over 3 rooms and it was ideal for us. Great location, 20 minute stroll into town with fully street lit footpaths perfectly safe for our teens (to escape from their parents). Great views of Bere Island and the bay. Glengarrif, Bantry, Kenmare, Dursey Island all within easy reach.

If you're after feng shui design and crocheted toilet roll covers jog on but if a comfortable bed, hot shower, great breakfast (while others use Covid to excuse themselves from providing one) and value for money is more your cup of (endlessly refilled) tea then Cottage Heights is for you.

The pandemic has placed a lot of obstacles in the way of hospitality but some things are unstoppable. A hostess with a will to overcome, a genuine interest in your wellbeing (nothing is too much trouble here) and a killer sense of humour, you should be proud Mary !

We stayed in Cottage Heights in August 21, for 3 nights, and we will be back. Mary made us feel so welcome, was genuinely interested in what we had planned for the few days and ensured we were well fed before we headed off, each morning. Hosts like Mary are what make B&Bs in Ireland, and she was great fun too. She recommended some local restaurants and we bumped into her in those same spots, which says it all……we had a lovely sea view, and it was great to wake up to this every morning. Food was fantastic too and she kept our coffee topped up as long as we needed it. Showers were hot, beds were really comfortable and there was loads of free parking on site. Mary is what West Cork is all about, and we will most definitely be back, thanks for a great stay.

Mary was very helpful. I initially booked for one night but stayed three. It is very clean and safe during the pandemic and they follow all the regulations. The WiFi is excellent. The breakfasts are delicious. Mary made breakfast early one morning so I could catch the 9am ferry to Bere Island. I would definitely like to stay here again.

We stayed in Cottage Heights B&B for a Saturday night in July. Located only a short stroll from the town center our stay was great from start to finish. We had an easy check in with Sandra who was so friendly. Later that evening we met Mary and Tim who were very welcoming and couldn't be more helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with great views of the ocean. Breakfast (full Irish) the following morning was served almost right away and cooked perfectly. On check out Mary even helped us out by running us into town. Great stay all round, will definitely be back

It was one of the times of our lives for this mega-mature group of walkers. Cottage Heights was the perfect location, owned and managed by the incomparable Mary. We were given a true Beara Way welcome when we arrived on the 11th of September. Mary's smile brought a glint of light into a dismal West Cork afternoon. And from then until we left, we were looked after like close friends.

The accommodation was spotlessly clean, comfortably furnished and beautifully situated, overlooking the sea and Beara Island. As the weather warmed and the clouds vanished, we saw it in its glory. Enjoying a cold beer at night on the veranda, as the sun set.

Breakfast was excellent. The full Irish breakfast set us up regally for the long mountain walks in the craggy mountains that make up the Beara peninsula.

Mary looked after everything for us. The packed lunches for our mountain breaks, the washing and ironing of mountain thyme-stained shorts and tops.

Advice and guidance were given willingly for pubs and restaurants. Mary's recommendations were always on the money.

Our 6 nights ran in all too soon on this splendid West Cork peninsula. Castletownbere is a fishing village well worth a visit and Cottage Heights is the place to stay.

My friend Kevin and I stayed with Mary for nine nights for our annual fishing pilgrimage to the Beara Peninsula. What is lovely about Cottage Heights and Mary the host is almost to much to write in a review. The rooms, location, parking and views are great. The quality of breakfast is superb and Mary’s kindness and attention to detail is faultless. I would recommend Cottage Heights to anybody and I hope to visit again. Thankyou Mary and Tim for looking after me. The breakfast omelettes were delicious. X

Stayed here for one night with friends on a recent cycling trip around the Beara Peninsular. Mary, the landlady was very welcoming and helpful, recommanding places to eat and drink in the town, that was only a short walk. The rooms were comfortable and first rate, the breakfast excellent, catering for a vegetarian, and a coeliac in the group.Would definitely stay again if in the area.

This is a lovely place to stay, clean and comfortable and only a short walk from the town itself. The breakfasts were excellent with a good choice available. Our room had a beautiful view. Mary was a great host, with great advice about what to do in the area, where to eat and practical help too. She had obviously paid attention to Covid advice and we felt very safe in Cottage Heights.

My friends and I hiked from Adrigole to Castletown along the Beara Way through a rainstorm. Needless to say we were wet and cold when we arrived to the Cottage Heights B and B. Mary the hostess was expecting our arrival and was very kind in offering to dry our drenched clothes and provided options for drying our shoes. The showers were warm and the room was cozy. Not only was Mary and her husband Tim very kind, they went above and beyond in making us feel welcome and letting us know days in advance to make reservations for dinner at Murphy’s, which really gets busy on Saturday night. Great overall experience, would recommend to anyone.
