This hotel was probably built in the 1970's and hasn't been renovated since. Bedrooms smell damp . Paintwork, soft furnishings and bathrooms very old and well used. Visible mould on walls. Bed linen was clean , but beds very worn and uncomfortable. Had a look at dining room and what food was available but didn't avail of breakfast . Earlier...

Took a mini break recently in the West. Came on the Connemara Gateway Hotel. Found exactly what we had hoped for. Nice clean bedroom facing out on a lovely field with no traffic noise. Very friendly reception. Excellent advice on the area given in a helpful manner. After a great sleep sat to a hearty breakfast. Our bedroom was attended...

I could not believe how run down this hotel was - decor shabby, old linen in rooms, bath stained. What is unforgivable is that on arrival we were told the bar or restaurant were not open ...In my opinion this makes it a b&b and not a hotel. As a b&b I would not even recommend it - breakfast was...

This is a large hotel having to make economies to get through the downturn in vacation travel. This can lead to problems like limited TV in some rooms, no bar and limited restaurant options. There is also a reliance on continental coach parties. However, the rooms and beds are comfortable, the location excellent for touring Connemara and the staff could...

I booked this hotel through an online site, and did so quickly because there were two major events on in Galway City, and it seems that every other hotel was entirely booked, or the prices were way too high. I was able to get a room in this hotel for a VERY reasonable rate, and it is still within a...

1 .0 Not recommended for business travellers by Peter Cheshire What a disappointment! A huge let-down. Posted24 May 2012 No favourite things really, except the breakfasts! Lack of facilities, no bar and poor service and oh the cold! The location was superb. It just wasn't made the best use of. Could have been an exceptional hotel, if the management wanted...
