Detailed Reviews
We booked this little motel from the road on our motorcycle trip through the Maritimes. We like simple, clean, close to the highway, walk to dining and parking in front of the room. We were impressed with everything we experienced. The room was loaded with amenities - all organized in a open shelved wall unit - Keurig coffee and tea with fresh cream and milk in the fridge, a microwave, all the kitchenware needed to cook up a simple meal including 2 burner hot plate, inviting tub and shower combo, personal amenities including a razor ... everything was clean and organized. We paid $10 at booking for breakfast included which was quickly prepared, ample, hot and delicious. We also went to the restaurant for dinner. My partner had lasagna which was excellent and I had the fish and chips which was served with lettuce and tomato and hot vegetables - prices were very reasonable. We dined in front of large picture windows overlooking the dam and gorge. It was like a mini Niagara Falls experience without the crowds. We walked down around the dam after dinner to a Visitors Centre and took pictures. The management team of this motel deserves acknowledgement for running such a successful business. Travelers on the road like myself really appreciate such efforts to make people feel comfortable.

My score refers to a more European standard. In reality I think that compared to the average of the places in the surrounding area, it is one of the best places.
Clean and recently refreshed place. Spacious room with waterfall view. A real motel, with microwave in the room, single-dose toothpaste and toothbrush available.
Parking available.

This is an old-fashioned motel with parking spots in front of the rooms and an on-site restaurant. The restaurant is really very good. Nice menu for breakfast or dinner and very friendly wait staff. The rooms at the motel are pretty shop worn, bordering on shabby. They keep them clean and have upgraded to the degree possible but you can only put so much lipstick on a pig. Prices are, therefore, too high for such quarters. The front desk staff, as opposed to the restaurant staff, could use a lesson or two in civility. Not all guests are low-life cheats, yet we all seem to be treated with suspicion. I will not stay here again.

stopped on way to Nova Scotia and way back, the ground floor room with the water view is worth the extra few bucks for the patio to have a coffee on in the morning. be advised if you get there late at night parking can be a bit tough but shouldnt be an issue honestly. Beds are super super firm, so if you need a soft bed prob not the place for you. Restaurant for breakfast both times was as good as you can want and super affordable.

This location is gorgeous and very well maintained. Restaurant open for Breakfast at 5am for early risers right up to after dinner. Food is delicious, reasonable with great portions. Rooms are very clean and cozy. Bed very comfy. Definitely would highly recommend this location. Tried to rebook on our way coming back through but no availability. :( Rooms very reasonable with the quality you receive. They even leave a razor and toothbrush in case you may forget it.
Restaurant and parking lot look over a damn. Some rooms do as well

Hill Top Motel has everything needed for a good night rest. Even an excellent restaurant on site, where the food is excellent and brought in no time, and staff is very nice. Guests benefit of free parking and a hearty breakfast, all included in the room's price.
A motel is a motel, therefore basic, after all. However, after sleeping for twelve nights in a row in different places, my conclusion is that motels compete nowadays quite well with the over-priced B&Bs, Boutique Hotels, and even Airbnb.
I highly recommend the Hill Top, located right next to the falls.

We stayed here on our way from Alma back to Montreal. The room was spacious with a keurig coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave & we even found a toaster in the cupboard.
We had a second floor room with a balcony overlooking the river. Nice view to enjoy a glass of wine after a day of driving.
There is a restaurant on the property but we didn't go.

This is a review for the restaurant. While visiiting family in Grand Falls we did a large dinner at the restaurant in a private room. Service was professional and attentive, and the food was very good. It was a Friday night so there was local singing entertainment that added a festive atmosphere. I would recommend to everyone when in Grand Falls.

We spent one night at this motel last week. This was our third time that we stayed there. First time was several years ago ….good experience went back two years ago ….ok experience. Then this time…..terrible!
The carpet in the room was filthy ….I couldn’t believe an establishment would rent a room with such a stained and dirty carpet.
The coffee machine still had the last guests coffee in it which we cleaned up. The paper travel lids didn’t fit the paper cups they provided.
The place needed painting and repairs.
Although I understand the restaurant is no longer associated with the motel…..our meal there was not good. In the past we had enjoyed our meals there.
Our waitress was the same as we had previous visits and was very pleasant and efficient.
I would definitely not recommend this motel and will never stay there again on our trips to the east coast.

Great value, friendly hosts. Stayed for a night on the way to PEI. Perfectly situated just about 4.5 hours from the Confederation Bridge.
Appreciated the lack of carpets in the room, laminate flooring feels like a cleaner choice. The walls were very thin (our neighbours were having normal conversation and it felt like they were on our bed) but the bed was fine.
Overall clean and efficient, the FULL hot breakfast the next morning was a nice touch. Would stay again for a night.

No, I lived there and never saw the Northern Lights. I've seen what they call "Marionettes"(French), not sure what it's called in English. They're kind of like the Northern Lights but just white. Looks like dancing clouds and not across the sky like the NL. I've tried finding out what they are on the Internet but could never find anything. Sorry but yeah no Northern Lights in Grand-Falls.
