Stayed here as part of a trip down the west coast. It's quite a busy hotel for the size of it. Rooms well appointed, bright, modern homely feel. Friendly welcome on arrival. The bar is very nice. I liked that they make a point of burning turf on the open fire and it smells great. Lovely selection of whiskies and...

We just came back from a couple days at Gregans and we could not be more pleased. The hotel is simply lovely. You feel like you are in someones posh manor home. The food and service are impeccable. Please get the tasting menu. Sheets were lie silk. Stay in a larger room with a view. Ask for newer renovation with...

Historic hotel that has a really homely feel. Luxurious in a really comfortable way. Great fun, stunning location hidden away from it all but close to great attractions and activities - including a great walking tour of the Burren. Lovely food. The garden is beautiful, Corkscrew bar one of my all time favorites.

One caveat. If you are travelling for the castle experience, you may be disappointed. That apart, friendly and attentive staff, a beautiful setting and excellent food make for a very enjoyable experience.

We chose the hotel as I'd been given a "Blue Book" voucher. The smell of the turf fire on arrival set the atmosphere for our stay, and the array of green wellington boots in the porch added to it. The room was warm and comfortable, and the area was beautiful, but the highlight of the trip was the meal. We...

We spent one night at Gregans castle and although the restaurant and food served is fantastic, the overall experience was poor. Very poor customer service, the welcoming was half-hearted, no offer to take our bags, show us to our room. Bar service and general service throughout the venue no-existent. Little to around the grounds (not that we were ever offered...

Pros: Tolkien slept here. We had a lovely walk around the grounds. There are some nice views. The bar is a nice spot to grab a pint and read in the evening. It is very quiet. Cons: We confirmed two beds. The second bed was a fold out sofa that poked into my back all night. Not what I would...

First of all, Gregans Castle is located in a heavenly spot in the Burren! We were so warmly received by everyone at this comfortable, elegant hotel. The food and service in the restaurant are superb. As another reviewer said, "couldn't be lovelier"!

We celebrated our Wedding at Gregans Castle Hotel with our closest family and friends for three straight magical days. What can you say about an experience better than anything you had expected? From the amazing accomodations (all of our guests stayed at Gregans) to the phenomenal cuisine, to the personal attention from Ken and Simon as well as the most...

My friend and I had the pleasure of staying here for 3 nights. Reviews are almost boring to write when they're this good, but - credit where credit is due and all that. The room and grounds are gorgeous, like some daydreamed country estate. It's the sort of place where you want to stay awake longer to enjoy every minute,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
With breathtaking views across Galway Bay and idyllically situated overlooking the unique Burren landscape, this is the ultimate luxury and gourmet hideaway. Simon and Frederieke together with their staff manage this oasis of comfort and offer genuine Irish hospitality, award winning innovative cooking and elegant bedrooms free from the intrusion of televisions. Antiques, an eclectic art collection, open fires, candles, jugs of flowers and Shelley the cat add to the indulgently relaxing atmosphere. The hotel while strictly not a "castle" in the usual sense of the word has been named "Gregans Castle" since it was built in 1750 as a more comfortable residence for the O'Loughlen and Martyn families from the nearby 16th century towerhouse. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way and the Burren Food Trail. The ideal location from which to enjoy the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Walking, Cycling, the Aran Islands, Horse Riding, Surfing, Sea Angling, Golf. Members of The Burren Ecotourism Network.
