This place was superb. From the greeting by staff on arrival to the excellent food and service we were very impressed. Definitely worth a visit. It's a tapas restaurant but they offer so much more than that.

We stayed one night. It's very close to St.Brendan's C of I church and the Birr Arts Centre. About 5 mins walk to Birr Castle entrance. Room was warm and comfortable with a four poster bed. See picture. While that was quaint it would have needed a larger room for proportion. Breakfast was a straightforward Full Irish with porridge and...

Visited here with a friend last night and had a lovely time. I was really, really surprised! The food was fantastic - we ordered a selection of tapas, all delicious. There was a good selection of wines also. Service was excellent. I'll definitely be back to visit soon. I'm so impressed!

Didn't arrive in till about 8.15pm which was just the right time. Any earlier and it would have been even busier. Restaurant was closed to deal with the volume of people. Calverley &...

My friend and I stayed at The Townsend Guesthouse overnight in July and I was delighted to be able to stay in such a tastefully decorated Georgian house. The style of the house is very in keeping with the period of the property and I loved the antique furniture. The beds are very comfortable and we had breakfast in an...

What a wonderful experience it is to eat here. I have eaten here a few times but the last time was with friends who we hadn't seen in a long time so it was a real catch up. The food was absolutely divine but the deserts are to die for. The ambience in Townsend tapas is lovely, it's very relaxing....
