The pools and beach are great. We did not rent through the main rental company so we had to pay $260 for the week to access the beach club. This was a waste of money and certainly not needed. The restrooms at each tower and four tower pools were plenty. You can order overpriced drinks and food from the boardwalk and do not have to have access to the beach club for this. The men's sauna was broken and so we're several games in the game room. All the Xbox controllers couldn't be used because they had "stick drift" according to my son.
Although it cost $15, my dad loved the hotdogs at the pool bar and had one nearly every day.
The village hideaway was the restaurant by the village green. The fish and chips there were great but my teens did not like the chicken Alfredo at all (not much chicken).
The village green activities were definitely for young children (aside from the corn hole). It would have been nice for there to be more activities for teens/young adults. Daily planned basketball, volleyball, soccer, pickleball, shuffle board, Spike ball, Cornhole... Would have all been easy to organize but didn't happen. I was expecting more activities for everyone, not just little littles.
My parents rented two chairs and an umbrella ahead of time for every day by calling the resort and getting the link to reserve. These were pricey but worth every penny! They reserve you a spot on the front row of a very crowded beach!
Finally, there needs to be more shade by the activity courts and pools. It was very hard to find any shade at all if you wanted to something out from under an umbrella.

Thank you for this detailed review. This is the feedback we need in order to make improvements. I have taken these comments and will be discussing with the various departments involved. These are most helpful! I spoke to the Clubhouse manager and learned we had one arcade machine down due to a child damaging some buttons. This has been repaired. The Xbox controllers are battery powered so sometime the batteries die and have to be replaced. They are working great now. Sauna was down a couple days due to an electrical issues until the vendor could make it out. This has since been repaired.

This was our 7th year as snowbirds to the Beach Club and we'll be back again next year, just not in this unit. Unfortunately, Catalina 708 is strictly an income property, there are no signs that a family owns or uses it. For a unit valued at $500k+, the unit is furnished with about $200 of rummage sale furniture. Three of the four balcony chairs were ripped and unusable (kudos to the office staff and the owner relations manager for working with us to get them replaced before we left!) The pull out couch and love seat are trashed. We had to stuff pillows borrowed from a friend under the couch cushions, otherwise we sunk so deep into the couch it was a struggle to get out of it. The rest of the furniture is worn and the artwork is mismatched (bedside table used as an end table and midwest winter scenes alongside palm tree prints, for example). The 20 year old dishwasher is very loud but functional. Things like rusty shower curtain rods, scarred dining room table, water stained walls, no towel bar at the master bath vanity sink, no grab bars in either bathtub/shower, hair dryers not mounted to the wall, a double cassette deck (!) with a missing tuning knob and an airbed stored in a closet that deflates in just a few hours all point to an owner that does not use the property personally. This does not mean that this unit is not without its charms, however. The refrigerator is new, the Salt brand cooking pots and pans are adequate and in good shape. Interestingly, the unit has a full set of Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne dinnerware. (however the unit is not equipped with an air fryer or crockpot as other units are). The view from the balcony is exceptional and the Beach Club property is gorgeous. This unit is not up to the level of excellence we've come to expect from the Beach Club.

We really enjoyed our stay in Avalon on the 19th floor in a spacious 4-bedroom that worked well for our group of 9. Beautiful condo and wonderful views from the balcony. Elevators were fast and we never had to wait long for one. The staff was friendly. Grandson loved the pool and beach. We had 3 vehicles in our party and parking was not an issue like with some rentals. RE: food trucks, some of our party went to eat there the first night. One family ordered 2 hamburgers, 1 hotdog, chips, 2 lemonades, and a canned drink and the total was $60. While I know everything is high at the beach, this is excessive for that amount of food. Others in the party who got different food also said it was high for what they got. They also all complained that bugs were really bad in that area. No one in our group went back during our stay. Regarding Spectrum Resorts and how you rent your condo, we used an outside booking agency because it was where we found the best price. Since we didn’t rent through Spectrum, we didn’t get the Spectrum wristbands. We decided to buy bands at a cost of about $230 for the week. These bands were red and not actual Spectrum bands. They would get you in the clubhouse pools, fitness room, and game room (all of which we later learned close at 6 pm every day). I wanted the grandson to be able to do the kids activities at the clubhouse pool. Since they weren’t Spectrum bands, we ended up having to pay for him to do the crafts each day ($7-$8 each). The red bands also don’t work to get a 10% discount on food like the Spectrum band. Buying the red armbands wasn’t with the cost. Rent through Spectrum if the armband amenities are important to you.

UNIT 1007C - Condo had a lot of issues. Broken ice maker, very loud squeaky dryer, black mold on ceiling in laundry, broken large front burner on stove, kitchen sink has a leak, very loose ceiling fan in LR, back door won't lock, loose toilet in guest bathroom, roof leak on patio over chaise, front door very hard to open/close, no blankets or beach towels. Weather was chilly at night and the bedding was very light, had to buy a hoodie to sleep in. Large mirror stored in Master closest fell and scratched my face when I was getting into my suitcase, this really should be put away. Regarding Beach Club specifically, was disappointed the hot tubs were always full of kids and was bummed they don't do the lawn parties/food trucks in October. We tried to call Vacasa the first day regarding ice maker and never heard back. Also wrote a review on their site that they have yet to post almost a month later. We had a good time because we were relaxing and together despite all the issues with the condo. We have stayed at the Beach Club in other units twice before, in much better accomodations. Sad thing is this unit has potential if someone would manage it properly.

They say the clubhouse pool is heated, but it was never heated the entire week we were there (spring break). It’s disappointing to have kids that can’t even swim, because it is unbearably cold. Don’t advertise a heated pool if you aren’t actually going to heat it. Indoor pool was not warm, either.
Condo was ok, but nothing special. Had a lot of burned out lightbulbs that took two days to get replaced. Broken toilet paper holder in master bath and vanity drawers that would not open.
An armband is needed to access the “heated” clubhouse pool, exercise room, indoor pool and game room. It’s very pricey, AND the hours are 10-6. Either do away with the member access or expand your hours and offer the heated pool you promise.
Overall disappointing and not worth the money I paid. I stayed next door last year for half the price, and I was really expecting more for my money.

The indoor pool is heated but the outdoor pool is not heated. Several condos have been remodeled since Hurricane Sally. We'd love for you to try one of them out next time! If you're staying as a Spectrum guest the Clubhouse amenities are included in the price of your stay. Based on your comments it sounds like you may have booked with a 3rd party. I would suggest booking through Spectrum next time. They have onsite maintenance and housekeeping and front desk that can quickly assist with any urgent requests and the Clubhouse is included- plus Spectrum guests get discounts on dining and shopping. Thank you for your review!

We checked in Saturday August 8th to find our room 1008B had not been cleaned from the previous renters. Called VRBO owner who said he was sorry. We cleaned the kitchen counter tops and fridge ourselves so we had a clean place to store our belongings. It took 3 hours for the cleaning to be complete. My wife, son, elderly father and myself had to spend those 3 hours on the hot balcony. I told the owner that we should get some sort of refund but of course that never happened. The next day at the pool we talked to four other families who also walked into dirty rooms. There were only three towels per bathroom, no dish rags, no dish towels, and no soap in any bathroom or kitchen but the day before we left they did bring up those items as well as three rolls of toilet paper. We were shocked to find out that you cannot have snacks at the pool. Security will call out a child or adult for eating a rice crispy treat or chips at one of the tables in the pool area. Security comes by every hour at the pool looking at everyone's personal belongings to see if they can spot a snack. Now this is the kicker security told my wife if she buys food from the clubhouse and walks it back to the Bristol pool then you can eat it there. The beach is okay but most of the beach is for the paid service umbrellas and chairs. We had a horrible experience at Beach Club and will never stay here again.

I hate you had a bad experience through VRBO. I encourage you to give Spectrum Resorts a chance next time. We are the onsite rental management company. We do allow snacks at the pool- I'm wondering if this was due to COVID-19. There was a time where eating at the pool was prohibited, as it was ordained by the state. Normally we do allow snacks to be eaten at the pool. We do hope you give us a chance and return to the Beach Club as a Spectrum guest.

The condo (3 bedroom/3 bath) was very nicely decorated, clean and properly stocked for us. The only issue with the condo was the outside lighting coming into bedroom window at night made it seem like daylight at night, it was awful to sleep. But kind of misleading about amenities on site. Advertised 5 restaurants on site, only 2 were opened. We were there 3 nights, Friday, Saturday & Sunday, the brochure said would have food trucks and bands. The food trucks were only there Sunday evening, and the "band" consisted of 1 guy playing a guitar that we could not even hear him. We bought drinks at the Tiki Bar, overpriced for sure. The restaurant up front near entrance had decent prices on food and it was really good. The drink menu we were given on Saturday night at this restaurant had drink prices ranging from $8.00- $13.00, the next night that same drink menu the prices were double! When I asked the waiter why he said its the beginning of summer and Food Trucks so prices are higher!! The clubhouse house arcade was pitiful, very small and only a few games to play, boring. In fact the restaurant up front at entrance had more games than the arcade, 2 pool tables, air hockey and other machines. The fitness room was very nice. Not a lot to do there at all especially for the kids or younger crowd except pool and beach for an all inclusive resort. I think it was way overpriced, would not stay there again.

Thank you for your review. I will try to address all of your concerns here. As far as the lighting goes- I will look into this. I'm not sure what lighting could be so bright to shine into your bedroom and seem like daylight. As far as the restaurants, you will see 2 of these restaurants are open seasonally. Coast opens May 24 and the Village lawn opened May 15. We also have the Village Hideaway which is open year round, and the Gulfside Bar and Grill at the pool which is also open seasonally-but opened in April this year so all of our 5 dining establishments are now open. There is "live music", not necessarily a band, every night at the Village Lawn. Prices do change from season to season. The clubhouse arcade is smaller. All of the games are free. We do have another arcade that is larger at The Village Hideaway. I hate you feel there isnt a lot for kids to do. Did you try out any of the activities? We run anywhere from 5-10 activities per day for kids ranging from cannon ball contests, to shark tooth necklace crafts and tie dye t-shirts. That, along with the volleyball, biking, tennis, hiking trails, swimming pools inside and outside, hot tubs, the spa for kids pedicures and manicures, the beach, the village lawn which has its own set of kids activities at night including balloon animals, face painting, and games- there is plenty for kids to do!

If you are renting from one of the owners, the resort doesn’t seem to care about keeping things nice. They only care about their clubhouse - leaving those that purchase the condos on their own. The Catalina building was looking rundown with signs missing and the pool is absolutely disgusting and dirty. They haven’t cleaned it in quite some time. The condo we rented was great but unfortunately the resort needs to step it up in cleaning and caring for the building and pool areas.

The resort certainty cares about maintaining the property. We are constantly working to improve the grounds and facilities. As for missing signs, we are currently putting together a proposal to re-do all signage on property so that will come here soon. The pools are cleaned daily. I will put in a work order with maintenance to make sure and take a look.

First off let me say that I'm not an owner and have no affiliation with Spectrum, who manages the property. I've been critical in the past when issues have come up so I'm going to give well deserved praise this time.
The Beach Club took a big hit from the hurricane Sally but they have done a good job of recovering. The landscaping looks great and the property as a whole appears to be well maintained. Spectrum has done an outstanding job of staffing which is currently a challenge down on coast. Props to whoever handles the hiring here.
The meeting facilities here are outstanding and they do a great job of managing group events.
Our unit (D703) was clean, updated, and well stocked.
I usually try to write a review for people who have never been here. This property is geared towards families and adult groups who just want to hang out at the beach and try to enjoy each other's company. It is not a place for groups wanting to "party" and go wild. The property is very safe, with a gated entrance. You can feel comfortable letting the kids explore things on their own here. They have even installed security cameras throughout the property. The beach right in front of the property tends to get a little crowded from all of the umbrellas but with a short walk you can set up away from any crowds. If you like to walk on the beach, a one mile trek to the east and you are in the wildlife area and will encounter very few, if any, people.
The property is rather isolated but a few more restaurants and stores are coming to the area. You won't encounter all of the gift shops, mini-golf, go cart tracks, etc.
If you rent through Spectrum you will have access to the clubhouse, gym and main pool. This may or may not be the case with individual owners. Spectrum is the on site manager so they can tend to any issues that arise. Again, I have no affiliation and do not know anyone who works there. I'm just telling how things are set up.

We had a ground floor unit. It was noisy and the a/c unit added to the noise. The 2BR unit met our expectations for size, furnishings, and cleanliness. Kitchen was small and equipped with basics. Pool and beach were handy. Grounds were maintained but nothing special. Pre Spring Break visit meant smaller numbers but also meant some facilities weren’t open at the resort. Resorts premier restaurant is average with a great view .. The complex is a 15-20 minute drive in to Gulf Shores and that means planning your trips for groceries or dining at area restaurants. Beach areas and pools are family friendly, clean, and well maintained.

The resort is a little drive from the heart of Gulf Shores. It's one of the top reasons why guests to stay at our secluded resort. Thanks again for your feedback. We had to have our wrist bands on at all times but did not need them to access the beach. They were to access the club house and the clubhouse pool etc. Depending on who you rent through determines what you have access to. We rented through Spectrum Resorts so our wristbands had bar codes that provided access to everything. I am not sure about the alcohol and spring break and how it is enforced. I personally think The Beach Club would not allow much during spring break. I think it is more family oriented than a place for spring breakers. Hope this helps.
