The perfect mix between wild camping and comfort. The limited wifi and no mobile signal made it seem like you were miles away from civilisation although you were a mere 10 minute drive from the closest town. A nice digital detox that included flushing toilets, a hot shower and every relaxing amenity you could think of from an enclosed eating space for all types of weather to a charging station for phones and small devices. Soo was a lovely welcoming character and had everything available for us from BBQ hire to a special treat of ice cream if we fancied it. She gave us a full tour of the site upon arrival and even gave recommendations on good places to pitch our tent in the meadow camping pitch.

This is honestly the best campsite in wales, so family friendly, lots of activity’s to do, the facilities are absolutely spotless and Sue and Jack the owners are the sweetest most accommodating people. We had few issues with the items that we bought along for our stay and the owners went above and beyond to help us when they had no obligation too, we are so great full and will definitely be returning next summer. If you do one thing in 2024, it’s should be to book a stay here! Thank you Sue and Jack ❤️

We LOVE this campsite! As a group of girls who usually go camping a couple of times a year, this year we weren't sure as one of us is pregnant, we decided to give glamping a go to save some of the lugging around of kit and this far exceeded our expectations! We stayed in a Pioneer Lodge which was excellent, clean, tidy, with proper beads and a log burner. We'd each brought a sharp knife and our own camp cups not really knowing what would be there butt hey have literally thought of everything! BBQ tools, cutlery, sharp knives, working tin opener, sharp peeler coolbox, blankets, solar lighting, there were bins for any type of waste and everything was really well labelled. We were also surprised to find a really well looked after compost loo and hot showers and washing up facilities in our field to save a walk to the main block. On the Sunday we paid for breakfast in the Dutch Barn and we were also absolutely blown away, we were offered tea and coffee, home made apple juice with elderflower and the most delicious porridge to start then the cooked breakfast catered for all our dietary requirements and left us totally stuffed for the day! Alongside that Jon and Soo are Wonderful hosts, really friendly and welcoming and had great local recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Cannot recommend enough, and we WILL be back.
Thanks for giving us such a lovely break!

We have just visited with a group of friends, staying in a pioneer camp. The site is lovely, really well kept, with lovely wild flower meadows and clean facilities. The beds, pillows and blankets in the Pioneer are lovely too, which meant a really warm and comfortable stay. Everything is provided in the camp kitchen, so you really don’t need to bring much other than food to cook! Overall we had a pleasant stay, although sadly a couple of negatives; firstly, the pizzas we had in the Dutch barn were overpriced and undercooked. Secondly, small bags of logs an eye-watering £8 per bag, and you have to purchase from them, not allowed to bring your own! And lastly, some of the children in our group felt some hostility from the lady owner, she told them off on a number of occasions which really upset them, however not once did she approach the parents to discuss any issues with the children playing, which would have been a more professional way of dealing with this.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed our facilities & you had a lovely comfortable stay. I would like to reply to a couple of the points you have made, that I’m sorry you didn’t find optimal. The pizza being undercooked, if you had let us know at the time, we would have gladly cooked you a fresh pizza without a quibble. In regard to the pricing, we’re aligned with local alternatives and when you book the pizzas the prices are listed there. We also use quality ingredients. For the logs, we supply kiln dried hardwood logs, which are quite expensive to buy in, but give good warmth, no sparks and minimal smoke. We ask guests to only use these on our woodburning stoves, as they are certified ‘ready to burn’ and we’ve had issue in the past with wood brought from elsewhere being too green. You are welcome to burn your own wood on the outside firepits however. Also my responsibility as site owner as well as ensuring guests have a lovely stay, is to ensure they don’t hurt themselves or damage the facilities. I’m afraid I did have to pull up the kids in your group for riding too fast around the communal areas on their bikes and riding down the steps of the toilets & showers. I didn’t speak to the parents, as these were safety-related misdemeanours which I felt needed addressing there and then.

We stayed for 5 nights in one of the Pioneer tents which are set in their own spacious field with a stunning view of the local hills. Being set away from the road there is zero traffic noise allowing full enjoyment of the plentiful bird song.
The tent was well equipped with excellent beds and a very warm duvet. An excellent wood stove was very useful to keep us warm on the mid May evenings.
We had our own outside kitchen which was extremely well equipped with sharp knives and fantastic cast iron pans. If you like to cook, the kitchen has everything you need. You get a huge cool box with large freezer blocks that can be exchanged when you need to.
The site itself is beautiful with lots of trees, hedges and wild flowers and the grass is left long in the centre of the fields to encourage the wildlife but kept very neat where it needs to be.
Showers were hot and clean; there are composting toilets in the fields with plumbed very new and clean toilets at the reception area if you prefer.
If you like camping or glamping this site will not disappoint and with plenty to see and do in the area it makes it a great holiday.

Colin thank you so much for your stay & I am glad you enjoyed the birdsong, which is pretty special. We keep the hedgerows / meadows managed for optimal bird life and other animals such as bats & insects to support biodiversity and the upside is we get to see them & hear them. Perfect for a relaxing with the people you love on a nature focused holidays. Do come back ans see us another time !

Top of the Woods exceeded all of our expectations. It was well equipped with a fridge for guests which is a huge help when camping in hot weather. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and Soo and Jon were often around if we needed help or had queries. The pizzas on site were amazing and like others would strongly recommend the garlic pizza with the garlic foraged from their woods.

The campsite is very safe and our two children had a great time playing with the other children on site. It’s rare to find somewhere safe enough for this to happen, but reminded me of when I was younger and roamed outside for hours!!

We like to try new places and so rarely revisit as we hunt for something new, but we all agreed we would love to come back. From speaking to others it sounds as though every year gets bigger and better and the amount of repeat custom speaks for itself.

Room Tip: There are no cars on site so take a manual pump over an electric one that plugs in to the car.

HI grace I am glad we were able to exceed your expectations! Not having cars in the meadows makes a huge difference in terms of child safety & actually overall noise on the site - it means you get to wake up in the morning to birdsong not car engines & your kids can run wild and play without you having to worry. Come back & see us , like you say we have many return guests who has basically become part of our camping family who come back & see us many times - take car and have a great summer!

As a family of four we had an amazing time glamping in a Safari Lodge tent at Top of the Woods and I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay. The site is close enough to some great beaches and attractions yet remote enough to offer the feeling of a complete getaway. A peaceful location with amazing views of the countryside and having separate car parking away from the accommodation really enhances the tranquillity of the site. Sue and Jon are very warm welcoming hosts and made us feel right at home. Safari Lodge tents enjoy plenty of space within a beautiful field of their own and some great vistas. They are very clean, feel fresh, offer a good amount of space for a family of four and are very well equipped. Kitchen had everything we wanted, log burner and fire pit were great in the evenings and the comfortable beds and thick duvets made for a great night’s sleep. Barn areas were well presented and the walk to the waterfall a really pleasant family experience.

We had a fantastic stay at Top of The Woods.

The site is great. The owners have built a really good setup. The long grass in the centre of the meadows is good, and the grass near the accommodation was well looked-after.

Everything went smoothly and just worked, the owners and staff were helpful and friendly.

The location is really good. There is good running/walking through the local forest and up local hills from the site. Access to Cardigan and the lovely beaches on the north coast is very easy and even the beaches in the far west are only an hour away.

Cycling in the area is very pleasant -the roads are very quiet, surprisingly well-surfaced and the drivers are friendly and courteous.

We stayed in a Pioneer Lodge for a week. We have done a lot of tent camping, yurts, pods and the like in the past.

The Pioneer Lodges were a good size and stood up well to the weather. The beds with feather duvets were very comfortable and the woodstoves worked very well.

The facilities in the cooking & eating shelter were really good.

The composting toilets in the field were fine (we had used similar in the past) and the conventional flushing toilets in the main block were very clean.

The showers in the wooden sheds in the fields were very pleasant.

We liked the lack of cars on site. Using wheelbarrows to transport belongings is a great idea. The owners use electric vehicles on site, which is also good.

The games in the barns were popular and the cinema barn was a really good idea.

A washing line and a few more hooks to dry our (multifarious!) kit could have been good, but I had brought some paracord and coat hangers, so it wasn't an issue.

Amazing place!!! Beautiful location, feels like you are in the middle of no where, it’s so peaceful! Owners Soo and Jon can’t do enough for you and are so welcoming (along with their 2 dogs and 3 pigs). Can’t recommend a visit enough, they have everything you need and have a choice of tent pitches and also ready set up safari tents for the “glamping experience”. Excellent facilities including lovely food cooked in the Dutch barn communal area. Lovely woodland walks accessible from the site. Toilet and shower facilities were always spotless no matter what time of the day you visit.
Can’t wait for next year so we can visit again

This is a really special place to camp, beautiful site, fantastic unique facilities like the Dutch barn and football table barn which our kids loved hanging out in. We also enjoyed eating up there in the cool shade as we camped in a heatwave but could see how useful this would also be in rainy weather too. The other regular facilities like toilets and washing up sinks are first class with lovely little touches, like nice soap in the loos and washing up liquid provided. Our kids loved the freedom and making friends and the car free site and like minded families meant we could relax and let them venture around. The activities like movie night and pizza night were also great and the site very sociable and friendly.

I also liked how on top of recycling they were with clearly labelled bins everywhere and other green credentials.

The location is ideally placed for exploring and we certainly have more to see on our next trip - we will be back!
