The staff are polite and friendly and the manor house has the potential to be absolutely gorgeous, however it is in desperate need of a refurbishment with paper peeling in sheets from the walls. We only paid £50 for two for the night including breakfast so we didn't expect a luxurious hotel and I could have lived with the refurbishment...

Nice venue and surroundings and welcoming staff, but.... rooms are very tired and threadbare in places and the food in the evening was just 'acceptable' made bearable by the friendly staff. Breakfast was a similar affair - no soya milk (or other milk alternative), limited range but again, served by nice people. Not that we wouldn't stay again, but we...

We stayed here as a base for a friend's wedding. The manor house itself is absolutely beautiful, if a little dated in some areas - although we agreed it only adds to the charm! The staff couldn't be more helpful and really cannot be faulted. John especially was very helpful in organising taxis for us and we couldn't wish for...

We arrived at ten pm, to a warm welcome and even though there was only one person there he made us delicious pepperoni pizza. Yes the hotel needs a refurb, but it was warm and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was served in the dining room overlooking the beautiful grounds by more very friendly staff, who looked after us very well. Good...

Went here for the first time with family and friends for a ticketed Halloween event. What we paid for I don't know. We paid £10 each for tickets in advance to find that when we arrived there was no decorations other than some torn sheets to walk through at the front door and people dressed up. There was zero atmosphere...

Visited in July to stay with my wedding party and family members also booked rooms. Breakfast as good, rooms were clean and staff were accessible and more than accommodating. This time visited for a local Halloween party and was treated awfully. Chef was rude about friends house of mine. Was horrible to myself and the party was dreadful. Not much...

Having read the many reviews on this property, I concur, you get what you pay for. Unfortunately there's always a but! My biggest concern is I thought hotel rooms were supposed to have fire evacuation instructions on the back of the door or near to it?, there were none. similarly I thought that all electrical appliances have to be PAT...

What great value this hotel is. Yes, the rooms need modernisation, the whole building does really. It is a typical country manor house. High ceilings, beautiful wooden staircase. Aging and in need of repair but everywhere was spotlessly clean. We stayed in room 6 which was surprisingly spacious with a big old fashioned bathroom (great shower, lots of hot water)....

Beautiful grounds, lovely building, but a hotel in need of some intensive TLC. The linen was clean and the service was personal and attentive and while you don't expect an historic manor house to have the character modernised out of it, the place needs a spruce up. It reminded me of nearby Plymouth in micro; an historic venue that didn't...

As a base camp this is a beautiful spot. Location is terrific, the on site restaurant is good and the welcome is lovely. However, it is a value hotel and although the beds and bathrooms are spotlessly clean the building/furniture etc is tired with dead hanging baskets etc. Breakfast is cheap and cheerful but if you're not downstairs early things...
