We spent 4 days and 3 nights at Anavilhanas in late March, early April. The accommodations and staff were excellent. Our kids (3 girls ages 7, 10 & 12) loved it as much as my husband & I. Everything from the cottages to the food...More

We looked at many lodges as well as riverboat tours and we're so glad we chose Anavilhanas. This place was spectacular. The pick-up was seamless from Manaus (we stayed at their recommended hotel, Villa Amazonia, which was also wonderful). The guide who picked us up...More

The lodge can book the tour for you but I don't know if you will have enough time to see it if your flight leaves at 1530. Can you go before you go to the lodge?
We are thinking about visiting the lodge. The only intimidating part is the vaccination. I am just curious what kind of vaccinations you all have taken. I was told I had to take yellow fever, malaria, typhus, rabies. Some of my friends had bad reaction from Malaria pills. Could anyone please share the vaccination experience? I am down to yellow fever and malaria yet to take. Thanks. In addition, how is December visit in the rain forest? Is it still dry? Can you do forest walking or it is flooded? Thanks a lot!!!

The Rio Negro is very acidic, therefore there are very few bugs and your risks are fairly low. However, get the vaccinations. We got our yellow fever vaccination shot two months in advance, and felt a bit "off" for a few... More
