I went to Ireland in May 2011 (not Oct but didn't have a choice that far back for this review) with some friends. My late husband's lineage was Irish and he'd been several times before we got together and he and I never got to go. My friend's husband planned this trip for her 40th birthday but emailed me to...

I stayed here while on a photography group trip around the west coast of Ireland. This is a first-class establishment. I stayed in the large suite just as you go down the hall - it is beautifully furnished and has a real peat-burning fireplace. Also, the evening dinner was exquisite, as was breakfast the next morning. Highly recommended!

I spent two nights in Ballinalacken in late August. My English cousin and I had single rooms which made it a bit pricey but it was worth it. My room had a four poster bed while the other room had a conservatory attached. The hotel is at a good height and there is a fine view of the Atlantic. This...

My wife and I had an outstanding two nights here! The service and atmosphere was top-notch and the food was outstanding. Declan and Cecelia made us feel welcome and at home. We enjoyed superb service at both dinner and breakfast. Everything we ate was done perfectly! My wife says the scones were the best she found in our two weeks...

I would just like to express how wonderful our stay was at Ballinalacken Castle. The rooms were quiet and comfortable, the quality of food in the restaurant was excellent, service was sincere, understated and heartfelt. Declan and Cecilia were superb hosts and their focus at all times was on their guests. Declan's O'Brien castle tour was excellent and not expected,...

We have been there a few times now, the first propmting us to book our wedding reception in the venue as they had arguably the best meal we had had in a long time, as well as a great back bar and adjacent function room. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the staff will go out of their...

My daughter got married here a few weeks ago. We had high expectations but they were exceeded! The views, the photo ops, the elegant interior, the friendly and accommodating staff all made this a truly ideal destination. My friends and I are "foodies". The menu is so nice and we have not stopped talking about how delicious the food was....

What a lovely setting for a castle ruin and country house overlooking the sea and the Aran Islands off the coast of Doolin in County Clare. The staff is family, and when you are here you feel like family too, although in exactly the right measure. Cecilia and Declan will prove to you that Irish hospitality is like none in...

We were made very welcome and enjoyed everything about this hotel. Only stayed one night as part of a tour of Ireland by motorcycle but would be happy to visit again. Our room was small but quite well equipped. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent as was the breakfast. It is well away from the road and very quiet with...

Located halfway between Doolin and Lisdoonvarna on the Coast Road, Ballynalacken Country House is located on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic and Cliffs of Moher. An absolutely beautiful setting. Request a room with an ocean view. Cecilia and Declan O'Callaghan our gracious hosts provided every comfort. Although we did not dine there for dinner, we certainly would on another trip....
