I stayed in a single room for 1 night, it was very small but it was right next to the road and there was a lot of road noise. The building is very old which adds to its charm but unfortunately any time anyone moves in the next room or the corridor then there is a lot of creaking from...

We came across this pub whilst looking for lunch. Upon entry to the establishment we were greeted warmly and with a welcoming smile, and were left to browse the menu at our leisure. The staff were excellent. they arrived at our table to take our order just a few moments after we had made our decision. Our food was freshly...

The owners are friendly and the pub was a proper pub with a warm atmosphere. The rooms were a whole different matter, the bright light rooms shown on the web site were far from what we found. Brown carpet, brown décor, cupboard with rubbish in it and a door that was hard to open with a a few wire hangers...

Two hungry travellers, we parked in the ample carpark and headed indoors. The bar assistant was friendly and helpful. There were plenty of empty tables (Monday lunchtime) and we soon settled down to read the menu. Lots of choice. My wife had the cod & chips. Great chips but there wasn't a lot of meat on her cod. I had...

My partner & I stayed here for 1 night. The room was clean & tidy & nicely decorated. Had a good nights sleep though you can hear the traffic as it drives past which is a bit disruptive. I would recommend staying here though :)

We visited the Queens Head last year, we were 5 in number, had a great meal with good service. So we were confident that this year we would have another great stop over, this time we were 14 so phoned to make sure that they could cater for a big group, they were very helpful and friendly on the phone...

While on business in the area I needed a place to stay overnight at short notice in or around Saffron Walden . After discarding most of the characterless value chain hotels I settled on this pub because the profile said that it was warn and friendly with good pub food on offer . The cost was well under my company...

We stayed Friday, Saturday and Sunday mid December and thought it was a lovely inn full of character with friendly hosts and great breakfasts (even though tables weren't laid up) However our room was a huge disappointment. On arrival it wasn't ready at four o'clock in the afternoon and it was freezing. We were given three small bath towels which...

Went there for a works lunch. The menu is nice and varied and the food was good. They coped well with 22 at our table. Nice selection of beers and a lovely old pub. The Snug with an open fire is gorgeous.

We stayed overnight at the beginning of December after a visit to Cambridge and a planned day at Duxford The room was quite small but adequate for an overnight stay. The bed was comfortable and shower worked very well. Probably a little more attention could have been paid to the provision of toiletries as there was 4 conditioners, 2 shampoos...
