I stayed in the Perriswood lodge with my dog for two nights which I arranged through Booking.com. The staff were quick to reply to messages via the app and very friendly during my stay. They were especially welcoming to my dog. The location is perfect (quiet, local, with pubs a three minute walk away, Three Cliffs Bay a 10 minute drive, and footpaths a stone’s throw away - I recommend the Bishopston Valley to Pwll Du Bay which you can find on AllTrails). The room and ensuite are spacious, clean and had all the items you would expect but I was surprised to find no fridge which is necessary for dog food, non dairy milks etc. Parking is around the back of the hotel (free and plenty of spaces). The back garden was blocked off which was a shame as it would have been ideal for popping out with the dog early in the morning. Breakfast was standard. They had oat milk but no vegan options for continental breakfast nor an alternative to the veggie breakfast. I didn’t eat in their restaurant as I met friends for dinner at The Gower Inn which is nearby, loads of parking, dog friendly and has vegan options. My friend was very impressed with the seafood options. The hotel is still called The Gower Hotel - there is no reference to New on the signage at the property and they advertise as 4 stars but I think they have lost one to 3 stars. The property looks tired and not as presentable as in the photos online - there were garden chairs at the table in my room. Even though I stayed in a dog friendly lodge their is an extra £20 per night to pay when bringing a dog which meant my stay averaged £175 a night.

well, where to begin, I attended the New Years Eve event with a small group of family and friends. I honestly have no words but high praise and thanks to every member of staff who went above and beyond to make our evening one to remember and to send the year out with a BANG! We were greeted by a lovely young lady who make us feel like royalty, serving us a delightful selection of happy hour cocktails and other beverages before we even got on to the welcome drinks and canapés which may I add, was a small and excellent treat to really get the taste buds going. When entering the main function room, the room was beautifully decorated with a clear seating plan on display. Normally I enjoy being in the company of people I only know but boy I loved every minute of being sat around a table with complete strangers who were there to enjoy the same reasons as myself and my party. Food service was absolutely exceptional, with a delicious choice for 3 courses which I took every Opportunity in ordering before hand (BRILLIANT IDEA) and I didn't want it to end it was delicious and so filling, with warm vegetables and tasty meats, what more could you ask for! As for the staff, they really went above and beyond for everyone that night and it proved through their excellent service and attention to detail making sure that not just 1 guest but all 80 guests that evening were catered for (food and drinks). The entertainment was just an added bonus by this point and the night was young, I even caught the staff joining in with a sing along and a little dance and who could blame them, hard work definently paid off that night! As the night went on, I could not contain my happiness with laughter, singing and dancing all night, it was the perfect way to celebrating entering a new year. As we wanted to make a night of it we decided to stay in one of the rooms in the hotel and they were beautifully decorated spacious and clean. Breakfast was amazing, with a great variety which catered for dietary needs of one of my friends. I honestly could not fault it, the whole experience and stay was perfection! All I have left to say is thank you to everyone who made our night spectacular and we will 100% be returning again and booking in for NYE.
Thank You

We have just returned from the New Gower hotel, we've stayed there many times before and we still feel it justifies a five star rating!! This time went with friends and stayed three nights, one of which hosted an hilarious comedy show, a take off of the old Faulty Towers television show, which was absolutely fantastic and included an excellent three course meal in the very reasonable price. As usual the staff were friendly and welcoming, treating us like friends, which by now I hope we are. The rooms were pristine and amazingly well thought out to include everything one might need. The hotel is immaculate throughout, with a great restaurant serving wonderfully tasty well presented evening meals and breakfasts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return. Well done everyone at this truly special hotel.

: Horrible Experience - Avoid This Hotel at All Costs!
I recently stayed at the gower hotel expecting a relaxing and pleasant experience, but it turned out to be one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever endured. What I experienced—and observed—during my stay has compelled me to write this review as a warning to anyone considering booking here. The hotel management’s abuse of both staff and guests is shocking and inexcusable. . Abusive Treatment of Staff First and foremost, it was impossible to ignore how poorly the staff were treated. I observed managers yelling at employees over minor issues, often in front of guests, creating a deeply uncomfortable environment. Staff members looked visibly distressed and overworked, and it was clear that they were stretched thin with little support. I overheard multiple employees discussing their frustration and discontent about management’s lack of respect for their time and effort. It was heartbreaking to witness and cast a dark shadow over my entire experience. It’s clear that this hotel does not care for the well-being of its employees, which is ultimately reflected in the quality of service. . Disrespect Towards Guests The management’s disrespect wasn’t limited to the staff—it extended to the guests as well. When I had issues with my room (such as cleanliness problems and a malfunctioning air conditioner), I was met with dismissive responses from the front desk. Any request for assistance was met with rolled eyes or curt replies, as if they were doing me a favor by even listening. I asked to speak to a manager about the issues, and I was told they were “too busy” to speak with guests directly. I witnessed other guests being brushed off when they had legitimate complaints, with management making no effort to resolve anything.
Exploiting Staff and Guest Well-being for Profit It’s clear this hotel operates on a model that prioritizes profit over people. The management seems willing to sacrifice the well-being of both employees and guests to keep overhead costs low. Overhearing staff conversations, I learned they are often required to work long hours without adequate breaks and with insufficient staffing, causing them to fall behind and struggle to provide good service. I felt that guests were viewed as nothing more than a source of revenue, with no thought to their comfort or experience.

The Gower Hotel isn't the easiest place to find. My SatNav took me down an extremely narrow and poorly maintained road before going through a ford and then I arrived at the Hotel. Earlier in the day, I'd received a telephone call from a charming lady to confirm my accommodation reservation and suggest that I made a dinner booking in the restaurant (a good sign, I thought). The same lady was on Reception when I arrived and handed me the key to my room with the comment "it's my favourite". Yes, the room was very nice with both a large shower and kidney shaped bath. All good I thought.
After a very good (but expensive) pint of local bitter, I went into the restaurant with great eagerness but that was where it all ended. The bright white lighting in the Monroe Restaurant is hardly conducive to a romantic evening and the pictures of Marilyn and here fellow film stars are all just so dated. The furniture is metal, uncomfortable and cheap.
My starter of smoked mackerel was dreadful as the fillet had obviously been microwaved and was wet and flabby. My main course of Venison and Vegetable Wellington had obviously come straight from a large frozen food company and was awful. The venison was dry and the puff pastry was limp and quite unappealing. The large dish of vegetables was unseasoned, overcooked, microwaved and limp. My first reaction was that the hotel boasts a strong wedding business and I hoped that the wedding food was better than I had experienced. I was staying for 2 nights but I couldn't bring myself to eat in the hotel on the second evening after my experience.
Breakfast was marginally better but, for the price charged by the Gower Hotel, I've had much better with a far superior selection. I find it so irritating when you have to ask for salt and pepper only to discover that the cruets were so dirty that the holes were clogged.
My final observation on the Gower Hotel refers back to my very nice room. Unfortunately, outside the room is a conservatory structure so when the heavens opened overnight, the noise of the torrential rain on the roof of the conservatory was enough to wake to deepest sleepers.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was nice and the restaurant was good, however we were disappointed by the housekeeping, over our 3 nights the room was 'cleaned' but the bins were not emptied, we were not given additional tea or milk until we asked, dirty cups and glasses were left in the room and the sink not cleaned very well. Sufficient clean towels were left for us so not entirely bad. The other disappointment was that the bar was closed and hitel in darkness when we returned from a meal out and it was only 21.30. We felt this was too early. The breakfast was pleasant, however rather expensive at £15 per head.

Hello Thank you for the feedback, our housekeeping team are excellent, however we have had a couple of new members recently who are in training, we have shown your review so that they understand the disappointment from our guests please accept our apologies. Otherwise our opening times are restaurant 5pm-last orders 8pm, Bar midday through to 11pm. Thank you

We booked a Sunday night here on our way to Pembrokeshire. The price of the room, dinner and breakfast at £185 was reasonable.
Dinner started well although the prawns in the starter were low quality. Steak was tender and moist but again low quality and likely not local. The desert was appalling. Described as a trio of panna cotta it was more like Angel Delight with extra gelatin. I raised this with the waiter at the time but there was no offer of resolution as he and his colleague were more focussed on getting out of there as quickly as possible - it was 8:30…
Room was pleasant enough if a bit noisy. We couldn’t decide it was pipes or a ventilation system. It was clean although the bathroom could have been cleaner with mould around the taps.
Breakfast was again poor quality and it would have been nice to see some locally sourced ingredients on the plate. A frozen food service sausage really doesn’t meet expectations.
I was hoping to raise these issues on checkout however the receptionist failed to ask how our stay was and wasn’t approachable enough to raise our issues with comfortably.

The staff were very accommodating and friendly. When I made the reservation, I requested a bottle of Prosecco in the room and it was placed there with an ice bucket and 2 champagne glasses. Dinner at their restaurant, Monroe's, was absolutely delightful. The room was spacious and cleaned daily. Filling breakfasts and safe parking completed our stay.

My stay at the New Gower Hotel was a very pleasant experience . I was traveled from Wiltshire for a short midweek break. On arrival I was booked in efficiently by reception and shown to my room which was bright and tastefully decorated with a comfortable bed. Cleanliness was to a good standard. I booked in for the evening meal and wasn’t disappointed, the slow roasted belly pork was succulent and the sausage filling was to die for. The owner and receptionist were very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the local area directing me to beautiful coves and sandy beaches as well as the bustling Mumbles village. The waiting staff were young but very polite and attentive . The breakfast was cooked to order and hot, not always the case in some places! The second night I had fish, again it was cooked perfectly. All in all I had a very pleasant, comfortable stay and will definitely stay again when I return to Wales.

Yet another lovely stay at this friendly hotel. I have stayed here about six times over the past 12 months and each time the staff have been friendly and welcoming, the rooms spotless and generously proportioned. It is located in a quiet spot, close to a stream with a ford across it, lovely for dog walks. Our Labrador was welcome in the bar & restaurant. Ample parking and the breakfast is amazing. I always go for the Eggs Hemingway!

Did you book direct with the hotel?
If a booking site was used? Try going through them, same if credit card was used?
As I didn’t have to cancel my booking I’m unsure apart from the above I hope you manage to get your refund though.
Regards
