I have been to Sugar Ridge twice and intend to make it an annual trip. The juice cleanse retreat is an awesome reset for the body and a great opportunity to meet other amazing people. The food is deliciously plant based, the yoga studio is lovely and Liz, who own the retreat, and the other facilitators are a wealth of knowledge, and go out of their way to accommodate your needs and requests. Can’t wait to go back!
I spent the weekend at the Iyengar yoga retreat. I arrived literally crooked and came back balanced. When not in the studio I was meeting interesting people from all over and eating delicious healthy plant based food. The accommodations are in cabins in the woods. No annoyine LED lights, only moonlight and starlight coming in the window and only because it was hot and windows were open. There are no toilets or running water in the cabins. It is a back to nature experience but WIFI is available in the main building to check the forecast or the baseball score
I visited Sugar Ridge in Nov 2022 with my bestie. Had a lovley experience and would definetly recommed this to others looking for similar experiences. Highlights: - Great yoga and medication sessions throughout the day - Amazing vegan food - Guided Nature hikes - Guided Journalizing - In house library Only 'downside' if you can really call it that- the toilets/bathrooms are away from bedrooms so if you are someone who needs to wake up in the middle of the night, be prepared to dress up and take a small stolls outdoors to get to the facilities :) I would definetly recommend this place and I hope to be back soon!
We had an amazing experience at the Sugar Ridge retreat. Liz’s property is beautiful and the fall colours looked gorgeous. The yoga and mindfulness sessions by Jenny were sooo good! The vegan food was delicious, and we met an awesome group of people! Such a great place to unwind - We surely recommend the retreat! This was our first yoga retreat and we will definitely go back again soon :)
I stayed at Sugar Ridge for the 4 day "Get your Glow On" yoga and meditation retreat with facilitator Jen (who has the biggest heart!). I can't say enough about the experience! I highly recommend this place to disconnect from your busy life, and reconnect with yourself, nature, and find a new appreciation for the simple things. The yoga was inclusive and accessible for all levels. The meditation and workshops were great, and things I could use in my day to day life. The food was healthy, delicious, and plentiful! The grounds are so serene. Thank you to everyone who made the retreat so special!
Nice enough spot though it was very difficult for me. I'm not much for roughing it. Having to rush through the darkness to find a washroom in the middle of the night with my cane in one hand and flashlight in the other was not much fun. Certainly no ammenities. It's like camping with a more comfortable bed.
Dear all, If you are on this page with reviews, that means this resort is just for you and for your needs. As you , I found this resort 2 years ago, when I got to the last straw and have to do something with my life , just for me.We sometimes realize that we care too much about all around us and forget about you as a person with needs and struggles. And after checking the internet I got across this Sugarc Yoga Retreat and I start to read about. When I got to the Yoga Balance weekend with Andrea yoga instructor , I felt that this is the one I want, just reading what she offers and teach. And I decided to enroll myself and go, without knowing what to expect . My experience was wonderful, place is a piece of heaven in midle of the forest and wildflowers and beautiful dogs. The program Andrea arranged for the group was amazing and she was always there to talk to you if you need it.The Yoga classes and talks moved me to a different stage in my life and Andrea became a friend and my Yoga instructor. The resort was beautiful, food is a different kind of experience, delicious even if all is vegetarian. They have a recipes book ,if you want to try all of the dishes at home, which I really enjoyed doing. And this year I went back. Just came yesterday, again a beautiful experience with Andrea teaching and guiding us, full of positive energy, big steps to take for myself and more hopes. The group was fantastic, each person brought in their own experience and carring side . An amazing surprise we had, when Liz invited Vicky with a Bath Sound show with Cristal bowls, Tibetan bowl and other amazing instruments. That was a music from angels. Yes, I definitely recommend this amazing piece of heaven. Just try and you will see, next year you will find yourself booking again. I wish you a wonderful experience 🥰…
I had amazing long weekend retreat. Jenny was absolutely perfect! She was so open and loving, professional but also personal! I felt that every little thing was put thought and love into it. The food was great and Chelsea put a lot of love in everything was doing, even in organizing the dishes. Thank you so much sugar ridge retreat, everything was wonderful!
A friend recommended this highly and I want to pay it forward. If you are feeling overwhelmed, frazzled and stretched to the limit, please consider this retreat. And if you are full of joy, calmness and your life is perfect, this will make it even better. I went for the five day mindfulness based stress reduction retreat with Liz, curious and a tad apprehensive about “ unplugging” myself from daily life and all things electronic. I found myself in a group that included retired folks in transition like I am, along with doctors, lawyers, engineer, and entrepreneurs. Each day was a mix of stress reduction workshops focusing on different meditation approaches, a cabin in the woods to call my own; shared common space full of comfy places to either be quiet or enjoy company; a wonderfully resourced library and many kilometres of walking trails. . Each plant based meal was prepped from scratch and there was both a large indoor dining area as well as outside space. Within minutes of arriving, I began to relax and appreciate the magic of the space. Shared spaces including washrooms and shower stalls were spotless, and the family puppies, wandering indoors and out, made it feel very much like home. Each day included an optional morning yoga practice, six plus hours of workshops and opportunities in the evenings to enjoy unique concerts, explore different styles of relaxation ( including unique instruments), a fascinating movie about mind body connections, and a simple evening outside around the fire. As a retired accountant I did the numbers: not including your transportation costs, each day came to $450 if you wanted a cabin to yourself. For that, you got the sweetest little home away from home, three delicious meals with coffee tea and snacks available 24 hours a day and more than eight hours of workshops and sessions designed to help you manage your stress through the development of various meditation practices. If you wanted to take time alone that was encouraged with Liz and the team’s support. There is a quiet library to curl up and read in and the shared lounging space is inviting, with books, board games and a two way fireplace shared with the dining room. So let’s say a hotel room with no way near the amenities costs $100/ day; three generous meals with exquisite desserts costs at least $100/ day; outdoor recreation activities at $50/day. The remaining $200 dollars of your $450 buys you approximately seven hours daily of access to workshops provided by experts of all kinds - - access to that type of engaged, gentle and supportive expertise comes in at less than $30/hour. I don’t know of any other highly skilled almost one to one support that can be found anywhere at that price. Liz is a psychotherapist and I learned so much from her on top of specific meditation sand mindfulness retreats. This is a unique treasure and regardless of where you are in your life journey, if you are blessed to have “ vacation” resources to spend, I cannot think of a better investment in your long term joy and wellbeing.…
My wife and I took part in a five day retreat at Sugar Ridge this past July. We are both in our 70s and wondered about how we would do, but whatever concerns we had left us pretty quickly after we arrived. The experience was wonderful from start to finish and I'd recommend Sugar Ridge to anyone. Liz Frost is the real deal. We live in Saskatchewan so it's a bit of a trip to Wyebridge but we’d love to return every year. We paid just over $1600 each for the five days which I initially thought was a bit pricey, but I was wrong. Sugar Ridge was worth it. The food was great. My wife and I are not vegetarian but we loved the vegan food. What a difference a chef makes! We'd like to be there right now.
